‘Clock boy’ defamation case explodes in court — ordered to pay attorney fees
    FEBRUARY 3, 2017
    BY VICTOR SKINNER

DALLAS – Daily Wire Editor-In-Chief Ben Shapiro did nothing wrong in questioning the motives of Ahmed “Clock Boy” Mohamed, a Muslim student who was detained by police after building a “clock” that resembled a bomb, a Texas court ruled.

A Dallas County District Court judge this week dismissed a defamation lawsuit filed against Shapiro by Mohamed’s father, Mohamed Mohamed, over Shapiro’s comments about the September 2015 incident at MacArthur High School in Irving.

Ahmed Mohamed was only a few weeks into school when the then ninth-grader came to class with what he described as an “invention,” which was basically a disassembled clock that was sloppily reassembled in a pencil box.

Mohamed showed his science teacher, who advised him to put it away. Later in the day, when the clock began beeping in his English class, his teacher took action because she believed it looked like a bomb. Mohamed was detained and questioned by police and briefly charged with possessing a hoax bomb, though the charge was later dismissed.

Mohamed’s politically active father, who has ties to terrorist-sponsoring foreign regimes, then took the boy on a world tour and was photographed with wanted war criminal and Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir before visiting the White House at President Obama’s invitation. Obama tweeted support for Ahmed as police investigated the situation.

Activist groups including the Council on American Islamic Relations and others, meanwhile, accused officials of Islamophobia while the Center for Security Policy, Glenn Beck, Shapiro, Fox News and other news organizations investigated and opined on Ahmed’s story.

Many of those folks believe the case is an example of “civilization jihad” promoted by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Shapiro told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly the incident “was a setup and … President Obama fell for it because it confirms a couple of his pre-stated biases against police and against people who he perceives to be Islamophobic.”

In addition, “Shapiro is entitled to recover his attorneys’ fees, curt costs, and other expenses in bringing his Motion to Dismiss and defending against Plaintiff’s claims,” the order read.
=>"entitled to recover" What does this mean? That Shapiro can counter sue, or, that the judge will order reimbursement?

I wish Ben Shapiro all the luck in the world getting the money. The family will likely leave the US to avoid garnishment and judgement executions against them. I'm sure they don't have much and the family's enablers are not going to pay the bill.

It's a victory but a hollow one. At least Shapiro will get one Islamic suprematism clan to self deport...at least for now.

    Good post.
It is not going to happen at all--if Shapiro does not counter sue--if I understand the article.

It means that Mohamed Mohamed(lol) will move his sad little wannabe terrist family back to Mecca land where they can be free to worship their ridiculous notion of a supreme being.

Perhaps we can persuade them to take that clown barry obummer and his disgusting family with them.

What a remarkable change of events.
From praise from the president to order to pay court fees.
Well, it could be worse for him--it is not really legal to bait the police...

    Where is "clock boy"?
I thought that he was a student in one of the gulf states?
Did the judge not need him at the judgment hearing?

I just hope the school learns a lesson about the folly of treating every dumb thing some kid does as if it's the worst thing ever and that they had the worst of intent when they did it. Sometimes kids do dumb things due to simply not seeing the alarm it might cause in older folks....then after they grow up and have kids, they finally get it. lol

IMHO, this whole thing was waaay over blown. A pencil box with some wires in it connected to an led readout displaying the current time of day? Really? Anyone with 5cents worth of smarts could have examined it and within moments, determined that it posed no threat.
...and without hard evidence that the kid actually had intent to build and use it as a hoax device, the skool "officials" decision to assign that intent and treat it with zero tolerance policy by pulling the big alarm, is just stupid.
All that does is to teach anyone looking for attention, and perhaps a nice lawsuit, a method to get a knee-jerk over reaction out of them. At that point, they become virtual puppets on a string for anyone looking to get a reaction out of 'em.

What should have happened was for the principle to confiscate the device and give him a detention or two. Instead, we get a big federal case out of it that gives them lots of publicity that goes on and on, and possibly money.

The zero tolerance crappola in the skools needs to end. Zero tolerance means using zero intelligence when determining punishments.
...and it teaches the kids that the system is punitive and looks to over punish while ignoring the actual intent of the accused.

The picture I saw had loose, unsecured pieces in the box that could easily short out if moved while plugged in. And at one point, he plugged it in! It could have started a fire.

My understanding is that his actions were deliberately planned to bait the school/system...not an innocent "dumb thing"...

Ok, so that means we should definitely give the reaction sought? If someone is gamin' ya, why give 'em what they want?
...and the only way the school could have been baited by him or his family, is for them to know they would over react to such a thing.

    Yes.
    Security/school/bureaucracy can always be baited.
In fact, at first, he showed it to one of his teachers, who understood, and would not take the bait, and told him to relax and keep it closed. He kept trying--and finally got the system activated.
But you are correct, a completely private non-govt bureaucracy could have told him to chill out, and just called his parents--sort of like his first teacher.
Do not try to board a US airplane with a device like that...there is no flexibility there.

EXCLUSIVE: Judge dismisses 'clock boy' lawsuit saying the school didn't discriminate against Ahmed Mohamed when the Muslim teen's teacher called the police because she thought he made a bomb
    • A federal judge ruled both the city of Irving, Texas and the school district do not owe damages to Ahmed Mohamed's family
    • In 2015 his teacher at MacArthur High School called the police because she thought a clock Ahmed made was a ticking bomb
    • Ahmed's father, Mohamed Mohamed, filed a lawsuit claiming his son's Fifth Amendment rights were violated by the arrest
    • Court documents obtained by DailyMail.com reveal the case was dismissed because the judge said there was no proof of 'racial or religious' discrimination
