In the past I was able to edit old posts to delete graphs that were outdated or to update a post with new info. The ability to edit an old post has disappeared. Is this something new? I have post in a topic, where I am the last poster and I have new info I want to add. The edit button is gone. I'd have to make another post to add this new information. Yes, another post would add to my post count, but I'm not into that game (even though my status would change). And yes, what's another post. But it seems unnecessary when the ability used to be there. Am I missing something?

   ..............Thanks for bringing this up.

I'm in the same boat. I have older threads where some of my vids have been removed (reasons aren't important) and I would like to be able to get back into the thread, remove the missing vids and replace them with some live stuff to revive the thread. We used to be able to do that. For some reason that is no longer the case.

Seems to me this happened around March or April of this year. I believe it was around the time several long time members were banned and others left. Kind of a big fiasco. I wonder if that had something to do with it :hmmmm2:

No matter...............I wish it didn't happen and we'd be able to edit out older posts.

I also think we need a lot more "thanks" than we have at present. We have a lot of good posters on the forum and on a good day I could give out dozens.

This has bugged me as well as I went to edit a post that was less than a month old and could not do so. It would be greatly appreciated if the mods would allow us to edit posts older than a week (or whatever the current parameters are) again.

    :)

Be nice to be able to delete posts as well....in particular so we can delete old buy/sale threads once the items are gone.

I don't have anything to add, except to agree with the above posters. Ability to edit and delete is important for various reasons outlined above. I miss that feature.

I'll jump in and pile on, in agreement with everything above. A couple of times, I wanted to edit an older post and could not do it.

I think I know why you would want to do this, but it is nice to be able to back and look at prices from another time. Some sites put sold items in a different spot accessible by members only.

Well, here's something else, not really related but interesting. Go to a topic with an attachment, like a picture, chart, etc. Right click the attachment and choose "view image info". On the popup, click on the Security tab (it has a padlock on it). Scroll down the page and look at "privacy & history" and see that the website knows how many times you were a visitor. :afraid: So much for privacy.

I've tried right clicking onto both graphs and pics. Nothing comes up thay says "view image info." Any idea what I'm doing wrong or what the problem may be?

MrL is right, that does work,

then on the right side of that, is says view cookies,

in there you can see the list and delete any or all of them, for instance mine had blog radio, amagi metals, rolling stone, nyt, etc as I peruse around and bring articles in or viewing articles on the site.

as for the editing of posts, I will check into the settings on that

I use Firefox as my browser. Maybe there's a different setup with Safari or IE?

Could be. I'm using IE. When I right click on to a graph or a pic I get a rectangular box that opens up and gives me the following options:

    - save picture as
    - email picture
    - print picture
    - go to my pictures
    - set as background
    - copy
    - select all
    - view source
    - add to favorites
    - send to one note
    - properties

I know you have plenty of other irons in the fire Scorp, but it would be greatly appreciated if would back the editing ability off a bit as I can't log into a thread from just TWO days ago to edit an incorrect link. While I feel that people should be able to edit their own words forever, I can understand the rational behind limiting edits. However it would be greatly appreciated if you could you at least back it off to month or at the very least a week or two. Thanks for at least considering it.

Scorp................not trying to be greedy but I have some old threads that were pretty good. They're kinda dead because of things that are no longer there (accts closed, copy right stuff, etc.) If I could get into them (some are over 6 mths old) and do some editing I could bring them back to life.

Just a little food for thought...............

I have noticed we lost the ability to move a thread that we created? I'm not sure when we lost that ability. I didn't use it frequently, but occasionally I would move a thread into a different sub-forum if I thought it would fit there better shortly after posting it.

    guys,

went in and changed the editing to 2 weeks from what it was,

    hope that helps,

had to go in and find it, and the time was set in minutes only, so at first glance it looked like there was plenty of time, but it was only at one day

Noticed since the forum update some of the features we had form the old forum have disappeared. I know some threads that had people subscribed to them have since reset. As well as the ability to move a thread. I'll have to go look more closely to see if there is anything else that jumps out at me from the upgrade.

I have set the time limit to edit your own posts to unlimited if I remember right.

You cannot delete threads, but edit them, or posts.

As for moving threads, don't remember what I set that at. Even then, no biggy, just report the thing and ask someone to move it if needed.
