This is the first day for the VG Live show to come from the re-opened Race Village in Les Sables d'Olonne and the finish is in sight. Over 1 million people came to the village prior to race start and the finish will be HUGE!!!!!
Will it be France or their traditional competitor Great Britain?
Only a mere 100 miles seperates the two sailors.
This is the hardest sporting event on the globe and this edition has lit the imagination of sailors around the planet. Ar\lready one of the foiling boats in this race has been sold to a German sailor and the race is still not over.

Drama Aboard a Swan 60 - Ep. 37 RAN Sailing
    RAN Sailing

    Published on Jan 17, 2017
Warning for some bloody footage in this episode but it's not too bad. We left Grenada with Privateer, a Nautor Swan 60, to sail in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. We had some really awesome sailing up to Union Island and we sailed over the underwater volcano Kick'em Jenny. Chatham Bay was a lovely place and anchorage but little did we know that the plans would change drastic when Malin got a 10 kg heavy hatch that fell on her big toe.

We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds takes us.

Read more about us and the boat and get updates and photos!

Armel and Alex are 40 miles apart and because of a anticyclonic weather pattern they both have to go above Les Sables before they tack for the finish. So, the race comes down to the last tack and for Alex he hopes it means Starboard for him as the foil on the other tack is missing. The recap on this race will be fascinating.
Behind the race goes on. Le Cam, Dick, Destresmau, others report in.

Ships WHITEFISH BAY & ALGOWOOD winter layup at Port Colborne
    RightInNiagara

    Published on Jan 17, 2017
WHITEFISH BAY and ALGOWOOD are tied up for the winter, on the east-side of the Welland Canal, just above Lock 8. as seen Jan.16, 2017. WHITEFISH BAY arrived here on Jan.13, 2017, well after the canal had officially closed; ALGOWOOD was already there. It goes to show that there is some life at the port, even though the Canal itself (from Locks 1 to 8) is actually closed, and in parts, is drained as well. Lake Erie's waters are still open, and the canal mouth only had some thin ice on it, so a ship can still enter and get to this point just before Lock 8. Obviously, the Clarence St. lift bridge had to be raised as well, for the ship to get to the down bound side.

☸ A short documentary film made by Charlie Chambers about the harbor pilots in Falmouth Cornwall. He´s always been interested in seeing the different ships coming and going and astonished by how little most people know about them, even though as an island nation we are dependant on shipping. This film is a little insight into what goes on just offshore 24hrs a day, 365 days a year.

    Geoff Waller

    Published on Jan 30, 2017
Well it's 84 days from the start of the current edition of the Vendee Globe and it's the last "VG LIVE" with host Scot Andi Robertson. Yes, He's Back! and fittingly Sailing Journalist Sebastien Destresmarau passes Cape Horn and "Shuts-the-Door" on the Pacific for the VG as he brings up the rear. Turning left he heads for home.
Andi says farewell from Les Sables d'Olonne and we look back at some of the highlights.
We hope that you enjoyed our reports and keep watching www.boatson.tv's "World on Water" for all the best sailing videos each week.

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we depart Bundaberg and sail south, almost non stop to Brisbane. We are sailing to a schedule to catch flights home to visit family. First rule about sailing, do not sail to a schedule! So we broke the first law of sailing straight away! Lucky the weather was on our side as we left thinking our flights were a day earlier then we expected. So it was full sail and full steam ahead.
We cross the notorious Wide Bay Bar, It proved to be quite challenging battling the wind and tide. The sun was setting and we were in the thick of it. With full sail and the waves rolling, Nandji powered through the swell unphased and powered on into the night. Setting her course south towards Brisbane, we sailed through the night and the following day.

Rough Seas on my 1200nm Solo Sail
    Sailing La Vagabonde

    Published on Feb 1, 2017
R6 (Daily Vlog 10 of 21) Some sail changes and fitness in todays episode. Mother nature however can’t seem to make her mind up as we have a bit of inconsistent wind and sloppy seas causing La Vagabonde to wobble around a bit. There is a bit of a 12th man quoting Richie Beneaud fitness camp, some podcasting and poor or more accurately delayed captaining decisions.
