Facebook says Russia-linked ads that reached millions of Americans continued to 'sow division' and undermine Trump – not Hillary – even AFTER the 2016 election
    • Facebook General Counsel Colin Stretch said in a Senate hearing that Russia-linked political ads kept running on the giant platform after the 2016 election
    • After Trump won the White House, Stretch said, 'we saw a lot of activity targeted at fomenting discord about the validity of his election'
    • Sean Edgett, Twitter's acting general counsel, said his company 'saw similar activity'
    • 'The same is true for Google,' added Richard Salgado, the search engine behemoth's senior counsel
    • Much of the focus on Russian involvement has come as part of a larger story that suggests Moscow instead sought to help Trump win the White House
    • Google insisted Tuesday that it's a technology 'platform,' not a news organization in its own right
    • And one senator demanded to know how Facebook couldn't spot ads from Russia that were being paid for in rubles

It sure is. Speaks volumes to how far humans have fallen from grace. Who knows maybe the aliens will say enough, and send humans back to the stone age to start again. If they are out there they will never allow the humans to leave this solar system.

Facebook? More like FAKE-book! Hilarious screengrabs reveal how people bend the truth with VERY dubious status updates (and fool absolutely no one)
    • Screen-grabs of highly implausible status updates are circulating online
    • Capture humble brags, 'accidental' (and flattering) selfies and outright lies
    • Followers were quick to call out Facebook users on their dishonesty

Would you send your NAKED photos to Facebook? Site is ridiculed for asking users to submit their sexy snaps in an attempt to stop jilted lovers posting revenge porn on the social network
    • Facebook is testing image recognition technology to identify revenge porn
    • Users are being asked to send sexy snaps to themselves on Messenger
    • Facebook will then create a digital fingerprint or link of that specific image
    • If anyone tries to upload it in the future it will automatically be deleted
    • But Facebook employees will first be able to view the unedited image

Zuckerburg should hire Anthony Wiener to head up this new department. Just get him a PC so he can personally handle filtering through these pictures while he is in the slammer.

I have 6 female Melinnials working for me. All stopped using Facebook, while using other social media. They don't like Zuckerburg. One says he pisses everybody off every time he opens his mouth. Another has a classmate from Hawaii who said the entire state hates him.

Just one Facebook 'like' is all it takes for advertisers to know your personality type and influence your behaviour with targeted ads
    • Ads created by researchers targeted millions of people based on a single 'like'
    • Experts used whether people liked certain pages to figure out their personality
    • These traits were used to target ads, boosting sales by up to 50 per cent
    • Study reveals even the smallest 'digital footprint' can be used to influence the behaviour of large groups of people

Facebook allowed employers including Amazon and Verizon to exclude older Americans from seeing their job ads
    • Investigation found employers are posting ads on Facebook which only appear for people in certain age categories
    • 'It's blatantly unlawful,' said Debra Katz, a Washington employment lawyer said
    • Some recruiters argue that age targeted ads on Facebook are no different than posting an ad in a magazine like Teen Vogue which aims contents at teens
    • But others argue that anyone is able to buy such magazines and read the job ad, while an older person on Facebook would never even know about the ad
    • 'We completely reject the allegation that these advertisements are discriminatory,' said Rob Goldman, a Facebook vice president
    • UPS and Verizon are among recruiters posting adverts restricted to certain ages
    • While Amazon, Northwestern Mutual and the NYC Department of Education, all say they are changing their recruiting policies in the wake of the investigation

You got to be apart of it to be affected by it.
GIM is my only social media nowadays. Never used a Myspace account or my LinkedIn. Never even tried Farcebook .

If one thinks about it FB opens people up to potential criminal victimization plus the the entire vanity issues of "see me" / hubris.

Plus now employers want access to applicants social media accounts for judging potential employment.
