LIVE AND LAND IN THE JUNGLE U.S. ARMY AIR FORCE SURVIVAL FILM PART I 84494
    PeriscopeFilm

    Published on Jul 17, 2016
This WWII survival film, LAND AND LIVE IN THE JUNGLE (Part 1) dramatizes the survival of the crew of a downed military aircraft in the jungle. The film features Van Heflin as Lieutenant Lynn Harrison. The film was intended to offer practical information for downed fliers, but also to boost the morale of flight crews who might have to make a forced landing in the Pacific campaign.

In the film, four crewman rely on teamwork to make their survival fairly easy — using the jungle's resources to their advantage. On the other hand Captain Harris panics and ends up paying a terrible price. The film includes many helpful hints from how to use a signal mirror, how to create a hammock from your parachute or how to use it as a net to catch fish, and how to deal with native Pacific islanders. There's also discussions about how to avoid large predators and snakes, treating scrapes & wounds to avoid jungle rot, plants and fruits to use and avoid, what fish and animals are safe to eat, etc. The film also shows how to set up a primitive kitchen, the use of Halazone & Atabrine tablets to purify water and fight Malaria, how to set traps and snares to catch small animals and birds, how to deal with and prevent insect bites, how to get rid of leeches, etc. There is also information about how to prepare food in the jungle, how to construct a campsite, build and use a river raft, and more.

We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment! See something interesting? Tell people what it is and what they can see by writing something for example like: "01:00:12:00 -- President Roosevelt is seen meeting with Winston Churchill at the Quebec Conference."

This film is part of the Periscope Film LLC archive, one of the largest historic military, transportation, and aviation stock footage collections in the USA. Entirely film backed, this material is available for licensing in 24p HD and 2k. For more information visit http://www.PeriscopeFilm.com

Cayuga Mission ~ 1945 OSS (Office of Strategic Services); Supporting Italian Underground in WWII

"Office of Strategic Services. Field Photographic Branch... Training Film: On the OSS Operational Group's assistance in helping to organize and coordinate partisan activities in Italy during World War II. Describes the success of the mission; shows the 'Cayuga Team' at a briefing and parachuting, along with supplies, into the hilly Italian terrain."

Reupload of a previously uploaded film with improved video & sound.

Public domain film from the US National Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and one-pass brightness-contrast-color correction & mild video noise reduction applied.
The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original).

    ...Mission:
The original mission for CAYUGA was assigned to the Italian OG Headquarters on 2 December 1944 by directive of the Allied Fifteenth Army Group. OG directive to CAYUGA was to:

    - a. Establish liaison with the COMMANDO UNICO (CU) of Parma and several bands of patriots in that area; to coordinate their operations, advise, train and assist with partisan operations and transmit to them operational missions as ordered.
    - b. Target enemy communications, installations and troops in the area, particularly along the Bedonia-Borgo Taro-Berceto Road and La Spezia-Parma Highway (No.62).
    - c. Transmit to OG Headquarters all enemy intelligence information from all sources.
    - d. Prevent friction within and between partisan bands.
    - e. Attempt integration into a single command of the 1st and 2nd Julia Brigades, 31st and 32nd Garibaldi Brigades and the Beretta Band of the Parma CU; and consider adding to that command other independent bands west of Highway 62 that are not affiliated with the Picenza CU or the 1st Ligurian Division.
    - f. Arrange through OG Headquarters for all air supply drops for all partisan bands in this general area.
    - g. Cooperate with other Allied military missions which may be encountered.

    Summary:
18 December 1944 Section was briefed for a scheduled 19 December departure which was forced to turn back due to bad weather. On 27 December they parachuted into ALBERTO drop zone (DZ) in three separate sticks led by Capt. Formichelli, T/Sgt. Alessi and S/Sgt. DiSilvestro - with Capt. Formichelli and T/Sgt Alessi receiving minor injuries because of hard snow and scattered trees where they landed.

Section was met by 1st Beretta Brigade which later gave ready access to the CU Headquarters and provided introduction to all of the CU units. After Capt Formicelli made individual assignments of Section members to the brigades, the OGs first made reconnaissance of their areas to identify ambush and other targets. And as air drops were received, they oversaw the distribution of those supplies and gave the partisans instructions on the use and care of the weapons and the tactics of guerilla and sabotage operations. To maintain communications between Section Headquarters and the various partisan units the OGs used messengers, sometimes telephone and later "300 sets".

Between 27 December 1944 when CAYUGA was deployed, and 10 May 1945 when they returned to base, the Section with help of the CHOCTAW Mission which joined them 2 April 1945 ( see separate CHOCTAW summary), received and distributed 76 air drops of supplies...

    300+ Piece Vehicle Emergency/Prepper/SHTF Kit REDUX - Preparedmind101
    PREPAREDMIND101

300 is a rough estimate by watching...realistically it's probably more. The best part is...you don't notice it's there. You aren't always near home, but you are almost always near your vehicle, so why not make it a mobile emergency supply station? Granted...depending on where you live and individual risks, a GOOD security system is a must. Rather than have stuff sit in my basement, I TRIED to make the most comprehensive vehicle system I could, with the idea being I could get by EASILY with what is in the vehicle if I just jumped in it with nothing else.

Check out this full review of a Vietnam War MCI or "C Ration"!
This is the food US soldiers ate when deployed in the Vietnam War.
Simple, much like an MRE but the meals were in cans. They used to have cigarettes in Rations until 1972.
This one here turned out to be in pretty bad shape except the cigarettes.

Tac-Bar 72 Hour Challenge: Day 1 by TheUrbanPrepper
    TheUrbanPrepper

    Published on Aug 16, 2016
This is Day 1 of my TAC-BAR 72 hour emergency food ration bar challenge. All I will eat for the next 72 hours for breakfast, lunch and dinner will be this food ration, in addition to drinking water. Let's see if I can make it the entire 72 hours!

    AMAZON LINK: http://amzn.to/2belQuf

    TAC-BAR WEBSITE: http://www.tac-bar.com/

    MANUFACTURE DESCRIPTION :
Tac-Bar is the only ration designed to perfectly fit into this standardized ammo can five at a time. Additionally, our 4 layer Mylar vacuum pouches have a thickness of 110 microns, the strongest around. Shipping, storage and deployment often damages food rations if they are not adequately protected, not a chance of that in our ammo can. Many prepper and tactical supplies are packaged in stackable ammo cans. Conforming to this system makes storage and deployment both practical and efficient. In a SHTF or extended tactical deployment scenario, food performance is paramount. There's lots to consider whether bugging in or out. Fact is, your body needs real food to perform at its peak and retain mental clarity. Tac-Bar has been engineered for a specific balance of calories, fats, carbohydrates, natural sugars, protein, vitamins and minerals to keep you operating at your best. There is no other food that can compare with Tac-Bar's daily recommended vitamin and mineral levels. Serious consideration to the physical size and weight of your provisions needs to be given. Tac-Bar is the highest calorie, vitamin & minerals combination per mass and volume around. There is no other ready to eat survival, emergency or tactical ration that contains real foods such as honey, oats or whey protein isolate. Tac Bar also requires no prep work, just snap off a piece and keep moving and stay alert. If you're using a vehicle to head to your bug-out location, just throw a Tac-Bar ammo can into it and you're set for a week for food (12,500cal) and water purification (10L). There is no silver bullet for survivalist food and no one wants to eat the same thing for extended periods. However, Tac-Bar has its place in any survivalists food plan. A free survival tin is now included, please visit the Tac-Bar website for more info on this and other great features of the Tac-Bar system.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_...

Nuclear War Survival Skills or NWSS, by Cresson Kearny, is a civil defense manual. It contains information gleaned from research performed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory during the Cold War, as well as from Kearny's extensive jungle living and international travels.

The book aims to provide a general audience with advice on how to survive conditions likely to be encountered in the event of a nuclear catastrophe, as well as encouraging optimism in the face of such a catastrophe by asserting the survivability of a nuclear war. It was placed in the public domain by the author and is available in digital format for free from several sources online. In the printed form a modest charge will generally be incurred.

Originally released September 1979, it was updated and republished in May 1987 with (among other things) a significant addition on nuclear winter, comprised largely of "refuting facts.". In 2001 a one page addendum on radiation hormesis was added...

    Overview

The main chapters are preceded by forewords from Edward Teller and Eugene Wigner. Following this is an introduction which explains that even the fruition of the Strategic Defense Initiative program would not make "self-help civil defense" obsolete. A comparison is made of the civil defense preparations of Switzerland, Russia, and the United states, where it is concluded that: "Switzerland has the best civil defense system"; "The rulers of the Soviet Union... continue to prepare the Russians to fight, survive, and win all types of wars"; and that "the United States has advocated... a strategy that purposely leaves its citizens unprotected hostages to its enemies." Thus, "The emphasis in this book is on survival preparations that can be made in the last few days of a worsening crisis."

The Dangers from Nuclear Weapons: Myths and Facts

The first chapter aims to give background information to dispel various demoralizing myths and reaffirm the potential survivability and reality of nuclear weapons. "An all-out nuclear war between Russia and the United States would... be far from the end of human life on earth." Myths listed include: "Fallout radiation from a nuclear war would poison the air and all parts of the environment. It would kill everyone."; "Fallout radiation penetrates everything; there is no escaping its deadly effects."; and "Unsurvivable "nuclear winter" surely will follow a nuclear war."

    Psychological Preparations

This chapter provides information on the immediate effects of thermonuclear explosions, and peoples' likely reactions to them, in an attempt to lesson the terror and confusion that would be prevalent after an unexpected nuclear attack. "Some people would think the end of the world was upon them if they happened to be in an area downwind from surface bursts of nuclear weapons that sucked millions of tons of pulverized earth into the air."

    Warnings and Communications

Illustrates the limitations of the National Warning System (NAWAS) and the Attack Warning Signal sirens, concluding that "In an all-out attack, the early explosions would give sufficient warning for most people to reach nearby shelter in time."
    Evacuation

Due to the replacement of large warheads on inaccurate missiles with smaller warheads on more accurate missiles, "you may logically conclude that unless your home is closer than 10 miles from the nearest probable target, you need not evacuate to avoid blast and fire dangers." Evacuation relevant to fallout radiation risk is thoroughly discussed, where it is noted that most available fallout risk-area maps are inaccurate, outdated, and misleading.

    Shelter, the Greatest Need

Provides information on fallout protection and basic structures; complete designs for "6 types of earth-covered expedient shelters" are provided in Appendix A.

    Ventilation and Cooling of Shelters

"Some shelters will become dangerously hot in a few hours." The Kearny Air Pump (for which a design is included in the appendix) is recommended...

The Survival Russia Channel is about "The Reality Of Survival". I live on a Homestead in far away Russian wild nature and here are no room for "TV" Survival.
Only Reality counts here. Survival Russia promotes the philosophy of always carrying equipment and never to be parted from equipment which will affect chances of Survival.
So did the old timers and pioneers of both the East and the West.

Is the crossbow a worthwhile investment for preppers, in this video
I discuss the pros and cons. Is it a useful tool for survival, post-disaster scenarios, the collapse of society as we know it? All of this is discussed!

The best most RELIABLE crossbow system ( I have no affiliation with excalibur bows, I did my own research 4 years ago which lead me to purchase this one) you cant go wrong if you do want a crossbow!
