AC Frequency Settings for TIG Welding Aluminum - "How to Tig Weld Aluminum" part 3
    weldingtipsandtricks

this is part 3 in a "how to tig weld aluminum" series. this video is about AC frequency adjustments and when to use different frequency settings.
Rule of thumb here is higher frequencies seem to help on thinner aluminum and lower frequencies help on thicker aluminum...especially for tig welding aluminum castings

    Published on Apr 8, 2017
This will be a nice mix-up of content. Last weekend was a big work place cookout with shrimp, crawfish, and bbq ribs, so I got some action of that. I'll show the Edge Technology Pro Mill stop and being used for a job milling and tapping holes for a hydraulic cylinder. I also have some other random weekly stuff in the mix, including short video clips, and some flea market scores.

I wanted to talk about fly cutters since I had the mini pallet still mounted in my mill vise. We'll take one of my largest fly cutters and attempt to get a nice clean cut with good surface finish on the aluminum plate. I'll show one cut using a carbide insert tool, and the second cut I'll grind a piece of high speed and hone to it try and achieve a nice smooth finish.

Laura´s Turntable Cabinet from old Suitcase
    Laura Kampf

    Published on Apr 9, 2017
I had this suitcase for over 20 years, now it broke.
i wanted a new cabinet for my recordplayer for a long time-so this was destiny :)

Thank You, Rockler for supporting this project!
    www.rockler.com

My grandfather bought this suitcase in hong kong in the 80s and i found it in my parents attic when i was about 14.
it is save to say that this suitcase has seen some places and A LOT of festivals.
You guys know I am a big music lover and i collect vinyl. one thing that always bothered me about the beautiful Technics MKII turntables is the ugly plastic dustcover-so recycling the suitcase into a recordcabinet solves this issue finally!
I will update the complete music area in my house so you can expect more music and vinyl related builds soon.

also check out chris from foureyes furniture! he is working on a recordplayer cabinet as well and might have been the spark of inspiration for this project because we talked about on his podcast.

Building and Installing Leveling Feet for a Wells-Index Milling Machine
    Keith Rucker - VintageMachinery.org

    Published on Apr 10, 2017
My milling machine needed some leveling feet - so I made some! How I went about building and installing a set of leveling feet for my Wells-Index Milling Machine. Round 3/8" steel cutouts were used for feet and a large hex nut was welded into the center to create the foot. A piece of threaded rod was used for the adjusting screw and they were installed with some brackets on the mill.

Gator Chucks 3 Jaw Chuck Mount & Inspection
    Abom79

    Published on Apr 10, 2017
We got a new Gator Chucks 3 jaw scroll chuck in the shop. I'll get it unboxed to unveal all of it's newly ground finish glory, show you how the cam-lock studs are installed, then mount it on the Victor lathe and do some first time run-out checks. What I find was pretty interesting, but as I got further into it, I figured out some interesting ways to improve the TIR when mounting up a 3 jaw.

The Gator chuck brand is precision manufactured with a meticulous focus on quality. Their team of veteran machinists with over 30 years of experience manufacturing lathe chucks builds each unit to include carefully case-hardened thread flanks, hardened jaws and pinions, and superior quality steel or cast-steel bodies guaranteed to hold the tightest of tolerances. The Gator chuck line also offers users one of the most diverse selections of lathe chucks with over 9 separate series. Chucks can range from 5" to 50" diameters and be fit to a variety of backing plate and direct mount configurations from A mount, D mount, and L mounts.

The warranty on your series of chuck is a 1 year warranty.

For detailed information about where to purchase this chuck or about the warranty available, visit: http://www.shars.com/gator-chuck-dist...

Brother Moto Project with Jimmy Diresta & JD Brewer

    Published on Apr 11, 2017
    Visit my store here https://weldmongerstore.com/
Jimmy Diresta, JD Brewer, and I hung out for a few days working on a project in Atlanta called Brother Moto.
So we Cut an opening in a shipping container, framed it in with plate steel, and then also framed in a few door openings.
Intended to use a plasma cutter but it was slow and the cut would need a lot of dressing to look good so we decided to use the 6" Metabo angle grinder and that worked great.
It was a fun project but the best part was hanging out with 2 great people.
see a more detailed article on the project here https://goo.gl/kBvqVf

SNS 164 Part 2: Horizontal Boring Mill
    Abom79

    Published on Apr 15, 2017
I use the H.W. Kearns horizontal bowing mill to set up and bore out the center of the two large gearbox stands I recently fabricated. There was a mistake made on some drawings and the incorrect dimensions were given when burned out. Instead of making a mess of them with a torch, or wasting material, I set them up in the mill and bored them out as needed.
In the mix I also show my dads Starrett 2-32" Starrett inside mic, as well as his Starrett 36" vernier calipers, which I use to measure the bore.

    1950s Chain-driven Belt Sander [Restoration]
    Hand Tool Rescue

    Published on Apr 28, 2017
This 1950 Skil 525 chain-driven belt sander was running a slow, probably due to the hardened grease around the gears. These are also known as "locomotive" sanders.

I completely tore it down except for the area where the worm-drive is. I didn't want to risk breaking anything trying to access that area. I ended up just adding new grease to the worm-drive gears. Power cord should probably be replaced, but I wanted to keep all the parts original.

The sander takes a 2 1/4" belt, which is not very common currently.

The sander works fine now and it is back to near original condition.

Interestingly, this sander was ~$65 in 1950, which would make the cost around $650 currently!
