Final video for this series. I'll be milling the three 2" wide keyways in the Acra milling machine.
As usual I try and explain a few details along the way, how I'm setting it up, why I'm indicating it, and even what the shaft is used for.
This is was an enjoyable job to do, the type I like. I hope you have enjoyed following along for this build.

    1950's 6" Hand Grinder - Tool Restoration
    Will Matthews

    Published on Sep 24, 2017
I picked up this grinder locally and it just screamed old school danger to me! Just had to have it and give it a restore back to working order. From my research it appears to be a 1952 model 401G Hicycle grinder from Consolidated Pneumatics Tool Company. It's certainly a power tool that you just wouldn't see being made today and carries a decent amount of caution needed when using it.

I hope you enjoy the video!

This is video of the day all of the volunteers met up near York PA to help get the G&E shaper moved out of it's resting spot and near the door of the shop so it can be loaded up.

Video and pictures courtesy of Bob from the Tech Gorilla Youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/user/altheato...

Huge thanks to all of the guys who drove over for this event. I hear some drove 2-3 hours to get there to help out.

Cole from Regal Metal Works was also there helping out and he has a Youtube channel as well https://www.youtube.com/user/tricklex46

This shaper is in really good condition and will need minor cleaning to get it looking great! Thanks to Kevin Pangle who helped seal the deal on this machine. It's going to make a great addition to the shop here in Florida!

    Gas Reciprocating Saw [Restoration]
    Hand Tool Rescue

    Published on Oct 25, 2017
Another tool restoration done! This is a 1960s Wright B-520 Blade Saw that has a 116cc engine. They originally had three different blades available: all-purpose, hardwood, and a meat cutting blade. The meat cutting ability was probably where this saw shined the most.

I decide to give this tool a fairly thorough restoration with only the double cylinder not being taken apart. There are not a lot of parts available for this model saw and I did not want to risk breaking/damaging a part that would be so difficult to replace. Just the replacement carburetor kit was difficult to find and took months to get to me. I was able to find a spare blade online though. I decided to alter the paint scheme a little as well, as I thought it looked better. I hope to get a powder coating system one day so that the finish is as tough as possible.

I found a digital copy of the old label online and had it printed onto vinyl. I then stuck it onto some aluminum duct tape to remake the proper label look.

Operating this saw was ridiculous. The power switch is the trigger, so if you let go of it, the saw shuts off. You can make it idle by shifting the trigger slightly to the left when you let go, but it doesn't always work. This saw also does not have a muffler, and it is incredibly loud.

    Happy Halloween!

10 Inch Vertical Output Shaft Part 1
    Abom79

    Published on Oct 28, 2017
This two part video will be about another large gearbox shaft I recently machined at work. This shaft is a vertical output shaft that is used in a high corrosive environment. There was deep corrosion on several of the journals, as well as the 32MM keyway on the coupling end was stretched. Material used was 4140 heat treated, quenched and tempered.

This video I run the Harbor freight Vulcan Omnipro 220 side by side with the Miller Multimatic 200 to see how they MIG weld. It was nice to see how well both welders worked.
I also talk a little about some of the differences and similarities of both welders. Thanks for watching!

    New Shop Concrete Slab!
    Abom79

    Published on Nov 4, 2017
We finally have the new shop slab guys! The pour happened over this past week and it looks great! Joe Zerber Concrete did a great job and give me a slab that is heavy duty and should hold up to heavy loading and machines. I took video of the entire process including all the prep work, so follow along and see just how the new shop slab was created.
I have my very first time lapse video near the end showing the entire job in a matter of minutes!

Here is a link to Joe's Craigslist add detailing his work with pictures. I would recommend him! https://pensacola.craigslist.org/sks/...
