Change CIRCULAR SAW to CHOP SAW
    Made in Poland

    Published on Nov 7, 2017
Hi. My name is Darek and in this video I'll show you have to change CIRCULAR SAW to CHOP SAW.

I used the Evolution EVO230 saw which I got to do the review. I rarely use it, so I decided to make a chop saw from it.
If you want, you can use a standard circular saw, but then you will be have to cut only wood and soft materials.

The tool works very well, cuts quickly and accurately. Assembly and disassembly takes about 90 seconds, so I think it is a good result.

I know some of you will say "it would be better to go to homedepot and buy a new one".
In my case, I received a saw to do the review, I did not have to send it back, so I decided to use it to do the chop saw.

Fabtech 2017 was the best one ever.
    The reason?
Instagram, YouTube, and other social media has provided a way to have real community of like minded trades people.
So not only can you see the latest, coolest, most innovative products at Fabtech...but its also a place to connect with people you interact with online.
    So cool.
Lincoln Electric brought in a few of my favorite Youtubers from the maker community to build a table and chairs and it was fun hanging out with Jimmy Diresta, April Wilerson, John Malecki, Crafted workshop, retroweld, and Zhfabrications.
The table and chairs turned out great.

    Published on Nov 25, 2017
The swap meet in Moultrie Georgia is an annual event which I have gone to the past 4 year snow. it's a fun event that take you all day and maybe even two to see it all. There's a huge vender section full of nearly anything car related, Americana, and tooling. There's also a car corral that's equally as big as the vendor section.
While there I caught up with Jim Bollinger and Keith Rucker, and together with Abby and Alex we walked the endless rows of stuff searching out good deals and hidden gems.
I added some time lapse footage of the trip there just for fun! it was a beautiful day.

    Power Hacksaw [Restoration]
    Hand Tool Rescue

    Published on Nov 26, 2017
This tool restoration was a unique experience. This is a Model 256 power hacksaw was made by L. Krushel & Sons Ltd. (LKS) of Morden, Manitoba, Canada. I am not sure of the age as there is very little information on this saw, but the motor is from the 1960s. LKS was most known for building high quality welders and produced the first 180AMP welder in Canada. The LKS 180AMP welder is still sought after today, but this hacksaw should not be.

I was not overly impressed with the build quality on this tool, so much so, that I would probably not use it and I do not want anyone else to use it ever again. That is why I decided not to replace the power switch on this tool. The majority of the hacksaw is made with sections of angle iron welded together. I even had to hammer off the slag from the welds for painting, as it was never done the first time around. It was also odd to see shafts with no bushings or bearings around them for support. I imagine heavy use of this machine would wear our these parts very quickly.

There is no way to adjust the feed pressure or to make the cut more straight and square. This must have just been a nice thing to have that would quietly cut metal for further clean-up.

I understand that this tool was built in a time when most tools were starting to be made with cheaper materials and methods for competitive reasons.

I tried to match the colour as best as I could and applied 3 coats of filler primer, 4 coats of blue paint, and 3 clear coats. I used the snap rings I had lying around as I didn't want to buy whole new sets of them just for this application.

With a fresh blade, the saw did cut quite fast, but was not square. If you do come across an old power hacksaw, look for something built better and with adjustment mechanisms.

Porter Cable Air Compressor Cylinder and Piston Rebuild
    Keith Rucker - VintageMachinery.org

    Published on Dec 8, 2017
My 17 year old Porter Cable air compressor quit pumping air a few weeks ago and I decided I would fix it rather than replace it. As is fairly common on these single stage air compressors, the piston and cylinder needed to be replaced, which is a relatively easy and inexpensive task to complete. I will show how to remove the parts from the head and repair them with a factory original rebuild kit.

    1950s Kango Jackhammer [Restoration]
    Hand Tool Rescue

    Published on Dec 12, 2017
It's nice to work with aluminum for a tool restoration. This tool is a Kango Jackhammer (Type E) from the 1950s. I believe type A, B, C, D came before it with the Type A starting in the 1930s. All labelled parts seem to be made in England.

It was really nice to see ZERO rust for a change as most parts have been soaking in oil, forever. I couldn't get the part where you insert the chisel to unscrew from the main casting, possible due to dissimilar metals corroding over time. The jackhammer was extremely dirty inside, to the point that the brushes and rotor we covered as well. Once cleaned up, the motor started working again.

The jackhammer does not have a lot of power (~only 500 watts) and the hammering action activates only when you push down on the chisel. This makes for an odd user experience. It also has ZERO anti-vibration designs and shakes my hands like crazy. The insane vibration and super cold temperatures annihilated my hands in short order.

I remade the name plate strip on photoshop and had it printed on clear vinyl. I thought stamping the main casting would look nice and keep longer so I went with that option. In the future I hope to get a small CNC router or high-powered laser engraver so properly remake metal name plates/tags.

    Shop Talk 21: Taps
    Abom79

    Published on Dec 13, 2017
This is a basic discussion about three of the most common tap styles, Hand taps, spiral point taps, and spiral flute taps. I seem to get many comments requesting info on taps so here you go.
Hand taps are great for all general purpose tapping needs.
Spiral point taps are great for through hole tapping.
Spiral flute taps are great for blind holes, and power tapping.

SNS 197: Concrete Update, Metric Shaft, Milling Metric Keyways
    Abom79

    Published on Dec 16, 2017
I show a quick update on the new finished concrete slabs and discuss what's planned for them. Then we jump to the machining project. Most of this footage is keyway milling in a new metric gearbox shaft. This is the first of two shaft I am building for a big gearbox repair job. The second shaft will follow with it's own video series.

I'll be heading out of town this coming week for a long vacation so you could experience a break in my uploads. I'm working hard to try and keep them coming but just want to give a heads up on that.

Grunt Work - Shop Progress Update
    Keith Rucker - VintageMachinery.org

    Published on Dec 22, 2017
While I have been off of work this past week, I have been focusing on getting some machines and other projects finished up in the shop. It has mostly been "grunt work", and with the help of a college student that has been doing some work for me this week, we got a LOT accomplished. Here is a summary of the week's accomplishments.

    Swedish Gearbox Shaft Part 1
    Abom79

    Published on Dec 23, 2017
First of a multi-part video showing the machining of a metric gearbox shaft that was built in Sweden. This is a rebuild taking place in our shop that has several parts that had to be repaired and machined. I machined two of the shafts, a bearing plate, and a couple other parts as well.
I have many viewers who only use the metric system, so this should satisfy a little of your metric machining hunger.
