    Drill HACK 1 Tapping Machine
    Made in Poland

    Published on Dec 25, 2017
Hi. My name is Darek and in this video I'll show you Drill HACK 1 Tapping Machine.
I used broken AEG drill which, unfortunately, I could not fix, old drill stand which I did not use anymore, cheap cordless drill and taps (link below)

As you've seen on video, the tool works very well. It easily handles threading on m10 screws. I have not tried m12 or m14 because I rarely use such sizes, but I am sure that it will also handle such taps.
If you want to do something like that, pay attention to the chuck because it must have a lot of downforce and have jaws in very good condition. It's best to use a new brand name. In this case, I do not recommend chuck self-locking.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are some cheap tools that I use and recommend:

https://goo.gl/quNNcU - Tap and Die Set
    https://goo.gl/Sh32kh - 90 Degrees Corner Clamp
https://goo.gl/yBn5Ta - 90 Degrees Angle Aluminum Alloy Rectangular Clamp
https://goo.gl/sgS5eg - 2.5 Inch Plat Nose Pliers Aluminum Alloy Vise
https://goo.gl/GXtWTc - Vise Workbench Swivel 360° Rotating Clamp
    https://goo.gl/yk56NG - 5Pcs 15-35mm Professional Woodworking Drill Bits Set
    https://goo.gl/R8q7z2 - 4-20mm HSS Step Drill Bit

Next episode will be milling the keyways and final look.

Swedish Gearbox Shaft Part 4: Keyways & the Reveal!
    Abom79

    Published on Jan 6, 2018
Final video for the Swedish metric shaft. This episode I mill the needed keyways in the shaft. I'll show a couple of the tricks I use to measure keyway widths when milling to a precision size.

We also take a look at some of the other machined parts I worked on for the gearbox, some of the gears, and the actual gearbox itself! It's not completed in this video, and there is another section that sits on top of this one that makes up the completed unit. I hope to share more of it later this month.

    Antique Beam Drill [Restoration]
    Hand Tool Rescue

    Published on Jan 11, 2018
The -40 C/F temperatures made this tool restoration harder than it needed to be.

This tool is a beam drill or boring machine made by the James Swan Co. in the early 1900s. I believe this one is the No. 6502 model as it has a solid cast iron frame. An original 1904 catalogue listing is shown here: https://i.imgur.com/e976xJF.jpg. The James Swan Co. existed in Seymour, Connecticut, USA from 1877-1951 and specialized in drilling tools.

I decided to replace all wooden parts as they were either rotten or warped. I originally thought these were made entirely of oak, but some maple pieces showed up during the restoration. The original black japanning was almost entirely gone, so every metal piece was de-rusted and painted with 3 coats of filler primer. I was surprised to see black japanning on the semi-circular guides that allow the drill to be adjusted, as the paint would clearly be scraped and worn off from repeated use.

The non-cast iron pieces seem to all be a fairly low grade of steel, and may even be wrought iron.

The auger bit was severely pitted and definitely needs replacing. I was surprised to see grain structure in the bit, suggesting it may be wrought iron as well. I don't think the auger bit is an original James Swan bit, as those were cast steel and would have been stamped with their logo.

I'd like to thank Evaporust for sponsoring this video. Their product definitely came in handy for this tool that was very rusty and pitted.

Thank You, Rockler for your continuing support!
Check out the awesome chisels I use here:
    http://www.rockler.com/stanley-sweeth...

I wanted to try something new and decided to go with a wedged mortise and tenon joint...during the build I realized, that that would mean I could never take the bed apart in case i wanted to change something. so I left out the "wedged" part of the joint and simply went with a regular tenon for the looks. the joint are super snug but just to make extra sure nothing comes lose, i screwed everything together from the top through a 18mm birch plywood.
I still need to build a rail and better stairs.
The bed is secured into the metalframe of the trailer...it is super sturdy!

    any cool ideas?

The forklift was overkill, but that's all I could get. Hey at least it made for some cool pictures!

    Pouring a Concrete Footing: Ep16
    Essential Craftsman

    Published on Jan 20, 2018
The cost of the concrete, hiring the finishers, and concrete pumping are all shared and discussed on Patreon http://bit.ly/ecpatreon

We poured 49 yards of concrete in this video. Now ordinarily I would not have had this many men on a pour this size but there were a couple of young friends who just wanted to get a look at how this is done and they found themselves "on screen"!

The concrete poured in this video was donated by Umpqua Sand and Gravel. This makes them the official sponsor of this video and we are very grateful for their contribution. Concrete Service is an fantastic family owed batch plant, if you live anywhere in southern Oregon I highly recommend you use their service.

Pouring a footing is a simpler concrete project since the finished surface is not visible. Pouring a footing is a good place to start with concrete - don't be afraid to try this yourself (just don't start with 49 yards!)

Thanks for the patience while we work to get these videos released. I think you would be very surprised if you knew how much time and effort went into making them. We are trying to make the best videos we can - and sometimes this means it takes a while to get them out. We are going to have to get A LOT faster at this once the house itself kicks off!
