The inside story of Mark Kennedy, the police officer who lived a remarkable double life deep undercover, as environmental campaigner 'Mark Stone'.

The most important single factor in any 'orderly society' is predictability. Unless you are predictable, you are a threat.

If you are part of a group, expect to be infiltrated.. It doesn't matter whether you are discussing football, cooking, crochet, or politics.

They may not all be as cunning as Officer Kennedy, but they are definitely out there, and they will stop at nothing short of exposure to make sure that you are predictable.

Checkpoint Charlie (or "Checkpoint C") was the name given by the Western Allies to the best-known Berlin Wall crossing point between East Berlin and West Berlin during the Cold War.

The Soviet Union prompted the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961 to stop Eastern Bloc emigration westward through the Soviet border system, preventing escape across the city sector border from East Berlin to West Berlin. Checkpoint Charlie became a symbol of the Cold War, representing the separation of east and west. Soviet and American tanks briefly faced each other at the location during the Berlin Crisis of 1961.

After the dissolution of the Eastern Bloc and the reunification of Germany, the building at Checkpoint Charlie became a tourist attraction. It is now located in the Allied Museum in the Dahlem neighborhood of Berlin...

By the early 1950s, the Soviet method of restricting emigration was emulated by most of the rest of the Eastern Bloc, including East Germany.[1] However, in occupied Germany, until 1952, the lines between East Germany and the western occupied zones remained easily crossed in most places. Consequently, the Inner German border between the two German states was closed and a barbed-wire fence erected.

Even after the closing of the Inner German border officially in 1952, the city sector border in between East Berlin and West Berlin remained considerably more accessible than the rest of the border because it was administered by all four occupying powers. Accordingly, Berlin became the main route by which East Germans left for the West...

On August 13, 1961, a barbed-wire barrier that would become the Berlin Wall separating East and West Berlin was erected by the East Germans...

Checkpoint Charlie was a crossing point in the Berlin Wall located at the junction of Friedrichstraße with Zimmerstraße and Mauerstraße, (which for older historical reasons coincidentally means 'Wall Street'). It is in the Friedrichstadt neighborhood. Checkpoint Charlie was designated as the single crossing point (by foot or by car) for foreigners and members of the Allied forces. (Members of the Allied forces were not allowed to use the other sector crossing point designated for use by foreigners, the Friedrichstraße railway station).

The name Charlie came from the letter C in the NATO phonetic alphabet; similarly for other Allied checkpoints on the Autobahn from the West: Checkpoint Alpha at Helmstedt and its counterpart Checkpoint Bravo at Dreilinden, Wannsee in the south-west corner of Berlin. The Soviets simply called it the Friedrichstraße Crossing Point (КПП Фридрихштрассе). The East Germans referred officially to Checkpoint Charlie as the Grenzübergangsstelle ("Border Crossing Point") Friedrich-/Zimmerstraße.

As the most visible Berlin Wall checkpoint, Checkpoint Charlie is frequently featured in spy movies and books. A famous cafe and viewing place for Allied officials, Armed Forces and visitors alike, Cafe Adler ("Eagle Café"), is situated right on the checkpoint. It was an excellent viewing point to look into East Berlin, while having something to eat and drink.

The checkpoint was curiously asymmetrical. During its 28-year active life, the infrastructure on the Eastern side was expanded to include not only the wall, watchtower and zig-zag barriers, but a multi-lane shed where cars and their occupants were checked. However the Allied authority never erected any permanent buildings, and made do with the well-known wooden shed, which was replaced during the 1980s by a larger metal structure, now displayed at the Allied Museum in western Berlin. Their reason was that they did not consider the inner Berlin sector boundary an international border and did not treat it as such...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandia_...

The Sandia National Laboratories, managed and operated by the Sandia Corporation (a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin), are two major United States Department of Energy research and development national laboratories.

Their primary mission is to develop, engineer, and test the non-nuclear components of nuclear weapons. The primary campus is located on Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico and the other is in Livermore, California, next to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Sandia is a National Nuclear Security Administration laboratory.

It is Sandia's mission to maintain the reliability and surety of nuclear weapon systems, conduct research and development in arms control and nonproliferation technologies, and investigate methods for the disposal of the United States' nuclear weapons program's hazardous waste. Other missions include research and development in energy and environmental programs, as well as the surety of critical national infrastructures. In addition, Sandia is home to a wide variety of research including computational biology, mathematics (through its Computer Science Research Institute), materials science, alternative energy, psychology, MEMS, and cognitive science initiatives. Sandia formerly hosted ASCI Red, one of the world's fastest supercomputers until its recent decommission, and now hosts ASCI Red Storm, originally known as Thor's Hammer. Sandia is also home to the Z Machine. The Z Machine is the largest X-ray generator in the world and is designed to test materials in conditions of extreme temperature and pressure. It is operated by Sandia National Laboratories to gather data to aid in computer modeling of nuclear weapons...

Sandia National Laboratories' roots go back to World War II and the Manhattan Project. Prior to the United States formally entering the war, the U.S. Army leased land near an Albuquerque, New Mexico airport known as Oxnard Field, to service transient Army and U.S. Navy aircraft. In January 1941 construction began on the Albuquerque Army Air Base, leading to establishment of the Bombardier School-Army Advanced Flying School near the end of the year. Soon thereafter it was renamed Kirtland Field, after early Army military pilot Colonel Roy C. Kirtland, and in mid-1942 the Army acquired Oxnard Field. During the war years facilities were expanded further and Kirtland Field served as a major Army Air Forces training installation.

In the many months leading up to successful detonation of the first atomic bomb, the Trinity test, and delivery of the first airborne atomic weapon, Project Alberta, J. Robert Oppenheimer, Director of Los Alamos Laboratory, and his technical advisor, Hartly Rowe, began looking for a new site convenient to Los Alamos for the continuation of weapons development – especially its non-nuclear aspects... In July 1945, the forerunner of Sandia Laboratory, known as "Z" Division, was established at Oxnard Field to handle future weapons development, testing, and bomb assembly for the Manhattan Engineer District. The District-directive calling for establishing a secure area and construction of "Z" Division facilities referred to this as "Sandia Base" , after the nearby Sandia Mountains — apparently the first official recognition of the "Sandia" name.

Sandia Laboratory was operated by the University of California until 1949, when President Harry S. Truman asked Western Electric, a subsidiary of American Telephone and Telegraph (AT&T), to assume the operation as an "opportunity to render an exceptional service in the national interest." Sandia Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of AT&T Corporation, managed and operated the laboratory until October 1993. The United States Congress designated Sandia Laboratories as a National laboratory in 1979. Today, Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) is managed and operated by Sandia Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin Corporation...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hand-to-...

Hand-to-hand combat (sometimes abbreviated as HTH or H2H) is a lethal or nonlethal physical confrontation between two or more persons at very short range (grappling distance) that does not involve the use of firearms or other distance weapons. While the phrase "hand-to-hand" appears to refer to unarmed combat, the term is generic and may include use of striking weapons used at grappling distance such as knives, sticks, batons, or improvised weapons such as entrenching tools. While the term hand-to-hand combat originally referred principally to engagements by military personnel on the battlefield, it can also refer to any personal physical engagement by two or more combatants, including police officers and civilians.

Combat within close quarters (to a range just beyond grappling distance) is commonly termed close combat or close-quarters combat. It may include lethal and nonlethal weapons and methods depending upon the restrictions imposed by civilian law, military rules of engagement, or personal ethical codes. Close combat using firearms or other distance weapons by military combatants at the tactical level is modernly referred to as close quarter battle. The U.S. Army uses the term combatives to describe various military martial art combat systems used in hand-to-hand combat training, systems which may incorporate hybrid techniques from several different martial arts and combat sports...

Sometimes called close combat, Close Quarters Combat, or CQC, World War II-era American combatives were largely codified by William Ewart Fairbairn and Eric Anthony Sykes. Also known for their eponymous Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife, Fairbairn and Sykes had worked in the Shanghai Municipal Police (SMP) and helped teach police officers as well as units of the U.S. Marine Corps and the Royal Marines a quick and effective and simple technique for fighting with or without weapons in melee situations. Similar training was provided to British Commandos, the Devil's Brigade, OSS, U.S. Army Rangers and Marine Raiders. Fairbairn at one point called this system Defendu, and later publishing an instructional training manual on the system. Defendu was later revised into a method of "quick kill" hand-to-hand combat training for soldiers by Fairbairn which he called "gutter fighting". The Fairbairn system was adopted and expanded by a U.S. military close combat instructor, Rex Applegate, for training U.S. military and paramilitary forces. Similar training was provided to British Commandos, the Devil's Brigade, OSS, U.S. Army Rangers and the Marine Raiders. Applegate would later describe this method of training in his own book, Kill or Get Killed.

Other combat systems having their origins in military combat include European Unifight, Chinese Sanshou, Soviet/Russian sambo and Rukopaschnij Boj, Israeli Kapap and Krav Maga and Indian Bison System. The prevalence and style of hand-to-hand combat training often changes based on perceived need. Elite units such as special forces and commando units tend to place higher emphasis on hand-to-hand combat training.

Although hand-to-hand fighting was accorded less importance in major militaries after World War II, insurgency conflicts such as the Vietnam War, low intensity conflict and urban warfare have prompted many armies to pay more attention to this form of combat. When such fighting includes firearms designed for close-in fighting, it is often referred to as Close Quarters Battle (CQB) at the platoon or squad level, or Military Operations on Urban Terrain (MOUT) at higher tactical levels...

This is one of 26 Private SNAFU ('Situation Normal, All Fouled Up) cartoons made by the US Army Signal Corps to educate and boost the morale the troops. Originally created by Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss) and Phil Eastman, most of the cartoons were produced by Warner Brothers Animation Studios - employing their animators, voice actors (primarily Mel Blanc) and Carl Stalling's music."

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_...

Private Snafu is the title character of a series of black-and-white American instructional cartoon shorts produced between 1943 and 1945 during World War II. The character was created by director Frank Capra, chairman of the U.S. Army Air Force First Motion Picture Unit, and most were written by Theodor "Dr. Seuss" Geisel, Philip D. Eastman, and Munro Leaf. Although the United States Army gave Walt Disney the first crack at creating the cartoons, Leon Schlesinger of the Warner Bros. animation studio underbid Disney by two-thirds and won the contract. Disney had also demanded exclusive ownership of the character, and merchandising rights. Nel (2007) shows the goal was to help enlisted men with weak literacy skills learn through animated cartoons (and also supplementary comic books). They featured simple language, racy illustrations, no profanity, and subtle moralizing. Private Snafu did everything wrong, so that his negative example taught basic lessons about secrecy, disease prevention, and proper military protocols.

Private Snafu cartoons were a military secret—for the armed forces only. Surveys to ascertain the soldiers' film favorites showed that the Snafu cartoons usually rated highest or second highest. Each cartoon was produced in six weeks, compared to the six months usually taken for short cartoons of the same kind...

Most of the Private Snafu shorts are educational, and although the War Department had to approve the storyboards, the Warner directors were allowed great latitude in order to keep the cartoons entertaining...

The Snafu shorts are notable because they were produced during the Golden Age of Warner Bros. animation. Directors such as Chuck Jones, Friz Freleng, Bob Clampett, and Frank Tashlin worked on them, and their characteristic styles are in top form. P. D. Eastman was a writer and storyboard artist for the Snafu shorts. Voice characterizations were provided by the celebrated Mel Blanc (Private Snafu's voice was similar to Blanc's Bugs Bunny characterization, and Bugs himself actually made cameos in the Snafu episodes Gas and Three Brothers). Toward the end of the war, other studios began producing Snafu shorts as well (the Army accused Schlesinger of padding his bills), though some of these never made it to celluloid before the war ended. The Snafu films are also partly responsible for keeping the animation studios open during the war—by producing such training films, the studios were declared an essential industry.

After the war, the Snafu cartoons went largely forgotten. Prints eventually wound up in the hands of collectors, and these form the basis for The Complete, Uncensored Private Snafu, a VHS and DVD collection from Bosko Video...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interrog...

Interrogation (also called questioning or interpellation) is interviewing as commonly employed by officers of the police, military, and Intelligence agencies with the goal of extracting a confession or obtaining information. Subjects of interrogation are often the suspects, victims, or witnesses of a crime. Interrogation may involve a diverse array of techniques, ranging from developing a rapport with the subject to outright torture.

    Interrogation techniques

There are multiple techniques employed in interrogation including deception, torture, increasing suggestibility, and the use of mind-altering drugs.

    Suggestibility

A person's suggestibility is how willing they are to accept and act on suggestions by others. Interrogators seek to increase a subject's suggestibility. Methods used to increase suggestibility may include moderate sleep deprivation, exposure to constant white noise, and using GABAergic drugs such as sodium amytal or sodium thiopental. It should be noted that attempting to increase a subject's suggestibility through theses methods may violate local and national laws concerning the treatment of detainees, and in some areas may be considered torture. Sleep deprivation, exposure to white noise, and the use of drugs may greatly inhibit a detainee's ability to provide truthful and accurate information.

    Deception

Deception can form an important part of effective interrogation. In the United States, there is no law or regulation that forbids the interrogator from lying about the strength of their case, from making misleading statements or from implying that the interviewee has already been implicated in the crime by someone else.see case law on trickery and deception frazier v. cupp.

As noted above, traditionally the issue of deception is considered from the perspective of the interrogator engaging in deception towards the individual being interrogated. Recently, work completed regarding effective interview methods used to gather information from individuals who score in the medium to high range on measures of psychopathology and are engaged in deception directed towards the interrogator have appeared in the literature. The importance of allowing the psychopathic interviewee to tell one lie after another and not confront until all of the lies have been presented is essential when the goal is to use the interview to expose the improbable statements made during the interview in future court proceedings.

    Good cop/bad cop

    Pride-and-ego down

    Reid technique

The Reid technique is a trademarked interrogation technique widely used by law enforcement agencies in North America. The technique (which requires interrogators to watch the body language of suspects to detect deceit) has been criticized for being difficult to apply across cultures and eliciting false confessions from innocent people...

Massad Ayoob "Judicious Use Of Deadly Force"
    (MrMuscleBilly)

    https://youtu.be/-j4PS_8R5IE

    Published on May 13, 2015
In this video, police Captain Massad Ayoob, generally recognized as the leading authority on use of deadly weapons in civilian self-defense, goes beyond his book In The Gravest Extreme to deal from the ground up in the core principles of law, ethics and tactics of using lethal force. It addresses the legal ramifications you will face if you use a weapon on another human being. If you plan to carry a lethal force instrument for self-defense or train in a weapons based system, this video is a must see.

Unfortunately, most of the legal information that is being dispensed by instructors claiming to teach "self-defense" is not only wrong, but dead wrong. The taking of another human's life is only legally and ethically justified under a very specific set of circumstances. And those standards -- not your fear or what you instructor told you -- will be used to hold you accountable. It is not going to be your instructor facing prison time, it is you. This is why it is important for you to know this information before you find yourself in a situation where you might have to use your training. Are You Seriously Prepared to Go On The Run? “You Have to Disappear With No Contact With Anyone”
    Mac Slavo
    December 25th, 2015

It isn’t hard to imagine a time when the lawless completely take over the system, and the defenders of the Constitution become the outlaws.

Dissidents, political enemies, patriots, the outspoken, the spiritual, the preppers and more could be rounded up in mass by a regime in the future. The scenarios are numerous.

What would you do if you were in the cross hairs of such a dark chapter in American history? Would you escape to your hideaway bunker, and put your survival plans into action?

The reality will be much more difficult than anyone has really imagined.

Today’s authorities have technology at their fingertips like never before in history, and right or wrong, they are likely to find almost everyone they are looking to apprehend.

Can you outsmart the state of the art in computer algorithms and surveillance technology that can now put together a web to predict your behavior and pinpoint your activities?

Dave, the Southern Prepper discusses his participation with a CBS reality show called “Hunted,” where preppers are challenged to go on the run for an extended period of time, while a team of experts pieces together information about those on-the-lam in order to track them down.

CBS describes the show this way:

CBS has ordered a new one-hour reality show, Hunted, that turns ordinary people into fugitives on the run.

Hunted challenges its contestants to go into hiding, while professional investigators attempt to track them down in a nationwide manhunt, using everything from cell phone records to determining behavioral patterns.

    Watch the video:

    Dave, the Southern Prepper said:

“What we were going to be challenging it as, in this country you can be labeled a political prisoner, or political dissident, really quick if you don’t believe what the establishment wants you to believe – especially being a gun owner, a Christian, a home schooler, a patriot, prepper, they can label you pretty much an enemy of the state.”

“It’s really not a prepping show, but it’s going to deal with, you know, grabbing your bag, or grabbing things out of your house. What are you going to need if you had to go on the run? Not for zombies, not from an SHTF event, but from the federal government and all their resources. Pretty much you have to disappear with no contact with anyone.”

“There’s six episodes from the British show [see episode one here], and if you watch that, basically anybody that used a cellphone really jeopardized themselves. Now some of the stuff they’re going to show is almost like a simulation. They’re not really going to use the ATM camera to watch you… they’re going to give you some debit cards to use so that the people on the run will have money.. Just like I would right now, if I went on the run I have a debit card.”

Dave says he and his wife came up with a plan for escape after doing quite a bit a research, concluding that it is extremely difficult to disappear in modern society.

“There’s so much information out there on the Internet, websites, Facebook, emails, phone calls. If the State wants to come and get you, you’re going to have to basically go where you’ve never gone before, never talked about it, and disappear. And really, hard to have contact with people because of the cell phone programs and the way they can spider and catch you by – you know, you might never have even called this person, but you have a buddy that called that person. They’re going to track all that down.”

“We need a committee, an escape committee, you could call it a fugitive committee to start figuring out – if you have to hide someone, like the Underground Railroad that hid blacks during the Civil War to get them out of certain areas – we as a group of preppers in this community need to have a plan.”

At the heart of the issue is the pervasiveness of data.

Ultimately, the Southern Prepper turned the show down, despite really wanting to be part of the challenge, and the desire to bring positive attention to the skills and politics behind prepping.

“You might say: Why didn’t you do it, Dave? The reason is that, this is pretty elaborate. They’re going to have to build a profile on me and my wife. So they’re going to have access to everything, everything I’ve ever done in my life. Just like the federal government. So everyone that’s emailed me potentially could be exposed to CBS and the new show. And I could not do that. For myself I couldn’t do it, and I couldn’t ask anyone else to put up with what I was doing. Because people email me in confidence, and I could never give that confidence away. So we had to decline.

The show, while only putting together a simulation, would actually be tapping his data and records to build a profile. We are so submerged in data, that there is no way to even separate out the game from the real-life game theory that is used to control us all. Watch the British version of The Hunted here:

Even second or third degree connections to a person can give away more than is prudent about like-minded individuals in prepping and patriot communities.

The premise, while thought provoking and fun (in the context of a reality show), serves as a potent warning about the potentials of modern data mining that threaten to keep us ALL under wraps.

Even if you have gone to great pains to stay off the grid, spend cash and maintain your privacy, those connected to you could reveal enough about you to put you back on the map – as a potentially suspicious individual who lives behind a cloak in the age of total tyrannical transparency, where the technology almost sees all.

Are you really prepped to hide if you had to? What would you do?

The question is well worth pondering as dangerous times lay ahead.

Physical Security: An Ever Changing Mission 1996 Federal Law Enforcement Training Center

'This video provides an overview of the evolution of physical security measures, due to increased criminal activity, and outlines pro-active strategies and physical security techniques used to augment the traditional reactive responses to crime.'

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physica...

Physical security describes security measures that are designed to deny unauthorized access to facilities, equipment and resources, and to protect personnel and property from damage or harm (such as espionage, theft, or terrorist attacks). Physical security involves the use of multiple layers of interdependent systems which include CCTV surveillance, security guards, protective barriers, locks, access control protocols, and many other techniques...

Physical security systems for protected facilities are generally intended to:

    - deter potential intruders (e.g. warning signs and perimeter markings);
    - detect intrusions and monitor/record intruders (e.g. intruder alarms and CCTV systems); and
    - trigger appropriate incident responses (e.g. by security guards and police).

It is up to security designers, architects and analysts to balance security controls against risks, taking into account the costs of specifying, developing, testing, implementing, using, managing, monitoring and maintaining the controls, along with broader issues such as aesthetics, human rights, health and safety, and societal norms or conventions. Physical access security measures that are appropriate for a high security prison or a military site may be inappropriate in an office, a home or a vehicle, although the principles are similar.

    Elements and design
    Deterrence methods

The goal of deterrence methods is to convince potential attackers that a successful attack is unlikely due to strong defenses.

The initial layer of security for a campus, building, office, or other physical space uses crime prevention through environmental design to deter threats. Some of the most common examples are also the most basic: warning signs or window stickers, fences, vehicle barriers, vehicle height-restrictors, restricted access points, security lighting and trenches...

    Intrusion detection and electronic surveillance

    Alarm systems and sensors

Alarm systems can be installed to alert security personnel when unauthorized access is attempted. Alarm systems work in tandem with physical barriers, mechanical systems, and security guards, serving to trigger a response when these other forms of security have been breached. They consist of sensors including motion sensors, contact sensors, and glass break detectors.

However, alarms are only useful if there is a prompt response when they are triggered. In the reconnaissance phase prior to an actual attack, some intruders will test the response time of security personnel to a deliberately tripped alarm system. By measuring the length of time it takes for a security team to arrive (if they arrive at all), the attacker can determine if an attack could succeed before authorities arrive to neutralize the threat. Loud audible alarms can also act as a psychological deterrent, by notifying intruders that their presence has been detected. In some jurisdictions, law enforcement will not respond to alarms from intrusion detection systems unless the activation has been verified by an eyewitness or video. Policies like this one have been created to combat the 94–99 percent rate of false alarm activation in the United States.

Surveillance cameras can be a deterrent when placed in highly visible locations, and are also useful for incident verification and historical analysis. For example, if alarms are being generated and there is a camera in place, the camera could be viewed to verify the alarms. In instances when an attack has already occurred and a camera is in place at the point of attack, the recorded video can be reviewed. Although the term closed-circuit television (CCTV) is common, it is quickly becoming outdated as more video systems lose the closed circuit for signal transmission and are instead transmitting on IP camera networks...

Spy Training: "Undercover" circa 1944 OSS Office of Strategic Services Training Film; World War II

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Office_o...

The Office of Strategic Services (OSS) was a United States intelligence agency formed during World War II. It was the wartime intelligence agency, and a predecessor of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The OSS was formed in order to coordinate espionage activities behind enemy lines for the branches of the United States Armed Forces. Other functions of the OSS included the use of propaganda, subversion, and post-war planning...

    Origin

Prior to the formation of the OSS, American intelligence had been conducted on an ad-hoc basis by the various departments of the executive branch, including the State, Treasury, Navy, and War Departments. It had no overall direction, coordination, or control. The US Army and US Navy had separate code-breaking departments: Signals Intelligence Service and OP-20-G... The FBI was responsible for domestic security and anti-espionage operations.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt was concerned about American intelligence deficiencies. On the suggestion of William Stephenson, the senior British intelligence officer in the western hemisphere, Roosevelt requested that William J. Donovan draft a plan for an intelligence service based on the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) and Special Operations Executive. Colonel Donovan was employed to evaluate the global military position in order to offer suggestions concerning American intelligence requirements because the U.S. did not have a central intelligence agency. After submitting his work, "Memorandum of Establishment of Service of Strategic Information," Colonel Donovan was appointed as the "Co-ordinator of Information" on July 11, 1941 heading the new organization known as the office of the Coordinator of Information (COI). Thereafter the organization was developed with the assistance of the British... The British immediately made available their short-wave broadcasting capabilities to Europe, Africa and the Far East and provided equipment for agents until American production was established.

The Office of Strategic Services was established by a Presidential military order issued by President Roosevelt on June 13, 1942, to collect and analyze strategic information required by the Joint Chiefs of Staff and to conduct special operations not assigned to other agencies...

After victory in Europe in May 1945, the OSS was better able to concentrate on operations in Japan. One month after the war was won in the Pacific Theater of Operations, on September 20, 1945, President Truman signed Executive Order 9621, which came into effect as of October 1, 1945. Thus in the following days from September 20, 1945, the functions of the OSS were split between the Department of State and the Department of War. The State Department received the Research and Analysis Branch of OSS which was renamed the Interim Research and Intelligence Service or (IRIS) and headed by U.S. Army Colonel Alfred McCormack. This was later renamed the Bureau of Intelligence and Research.

The War Department took over the Secret Intelligence (SI) and Counter-Espionage (X-2) Branches, which were then housed in a new office created for just this purpose—the Strategic Services Unit (SSU). The Secretary of War appointed Brigadier General John Magruder (formerly Donovan's Deputy Director for Intelligence in OSS) as the director to oversee the liquidation of the OSS, and more importantly, the preservation of the clandestine intelligence capability of the OSS.

In January 1946, President Truman created the Central Intelligence Group (CIG) which was the direct precursor to the CIA. The assets of the SSU, which now constituted a streamlined "nucleus" of clandestine intelligence, was transferred to the CIG in mid-1946 and reconstituted as the Office of Special Operations (OSO). Next, the National Security Act of 1947 established the United States's first permanent peacetime intelligence agency, the Central Intelligence Agency, which then took up the functions of the OSS. The direct descendant of the paramilitary component of the OSS is the Special Activities Division of the CIA...

Get this video & much more on our "O.S.S. School for Spies in World War 2" DVD http://bit.ly/1mNm7Yp From the C.I.A. Archives. Another "hands on" agent training film produced by the O.S.S. (Office of Strategic Services) during Word War 2 on the art of hiding (and finding) objects & secret information hidden in locations like homes, apartments, and hotel rooms. The story begins with an American industrialist working in a neutral country, who is working as an O.S.S operative. He has hidden a purloined chemical sample and other info in his apartment, which is soon searched by an enemy agent , who knows a few things, but doesn't know enough to find what he's after. The table's are then turned and the enemy agent's rooms are searched by O.S.S operatives, who do a much better job finding secret information. You'll learn a lot along the way, including how to set "traps" so you know your place has been searched, hiding & finding different kinds of objects and printed information, prioritizing & managing a through search, secret panels, doing a search so no one knows you've been there and much more.

"Loose lips sink ships." With Walter Huston.

Reupload of a previously uploaded film with improved video & sound.

Public domain film from the Library of Congress Prelinger Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and one-pass brightness-contrast-color correction & mild video noise reduction applied.
The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original).

Loose lips sink ships is an American English idiom meaning "beware of unguarded talk".
American WWII poster by Seymour L. Goff, also known as Ess-ar-gee

The phrase originated on propaganda posters during World War II. The phrase was used in posters made by the Seagram Distillers Corporation as part that corporation's contribution to the National Victory Effort and was used on posters by the United States Office of War Information.

The most famous poster that helped popularize the phrase (pictured at right) was created for the Seagram Distillers Corporation by the designer Seymour R. Goff (also known by the pseudonym "Ess-ar-gee" or Essargee) . This type of poster was part of a general campaign of American propaganda during World War II to advise servicemen and other citizens to avoid careless talk concerning secure information that might be of use to the enemy. The British equivalent used variations on the phrase "Keep mum," while in neutral Sweden the State Information Board promoted the wordplay "en svensk tiger."

The gist of this particular slogan was that one should avoid speaking of ship movements, as this talk (if directed at or overheard by covert enemy agents) might allow the enemy to intercept and destroy the ships.

There were many similar such slogans, but "Loose lips sink ships" remained in the American idiom for the remainder of the century and into the next, usually as an admonition to avoid careless talk in general...

Walter Thomas Huston (/ˈwɔːltər ˈhjuːstən/; April 5, 1883 -- April 7, 1950) was a Canadian-born American actor. He was the father of actor and director John Huston and the grandfather of actors Walter Anthony (Tony) Huston, Anjelica Huston, Danny Huston, and Allegra Huston. He is great-grandfather to actor Jack Huston...

    Early life

Huston was born in Toronto, Ontario the son of Elizabeth (née McGibbon) and Robert Moore Huston, a provincial farmer who founded a construction company. He was of Scottish and Irish descent.

His family moved from Orangeville, Ontario before his birth where they were farmers. Huston was an engineer who moved to the United States to work and eventually changed careers to acting.

    Career

Huston began his Broadway career in 1924. Once talkies began in Hollywood, he achieved fame in character roles. His first major role was in 1929's The Virginian with Gary Cooper. He appeared in the Broadway theatrical adaptation of Sinclair Lewis's novel Dodsworth in 1934 and the play's film version two years later.

Huston remained busy throughout the 1930s and 1940s, both on stage and screen (becoming one of America's most distinguished actors); he performed "September Song" in the original Broadway production of Knickerbocker Holiday in 1938 (his granddaughter Anjelica Huston sang it on the May 7, 2012 episode of the NBC TV series "Smash"). Among his films are Abraham Lincoln (1930), Rain (1932), Gabriel Over the White House (1933), The Devil and Daniel Webster (1941), Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942), and Mission to Moscow (1943), a pro-Soviet World War II propaganda film as Ambassador Joseph E. Davies. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1948 for his role in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, which was directed by his son, John Huston. His last film was The Furies in 1950 with Barbara Stanwyck.

Along with Anthony Veiller, he narrated the Why We Fight series of World War II documentaries directed by Frank Capra.

    Death

He died in Hollywood from an aortic aneurysm, two days after his 67th birthday. Huston has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6626 Hollywood Blvd...

WORLD WAR II BRITISH PROPAGANDA FILM "NOW YOU'RE TALKING" 85954
    PeriscopeFilm

    Published on Jan 29, 2016
Made in 1940, NOW YOU'RE TALKING was one of a trio of fast-paced shorts released in 1940 intended to illustrate the potentially catastrophic consequences of unguarded chatter in public places during wartime.

The plot of the film is this: When a fallen Nazi aeroplane is recovered, British scientists have high hopes of learning valuable secrets. But a disgruntled factory worker inadvertently alerts enemy agents to the discovery, with disastrous consequences.

From the BFI: As part of a wider publicity campaign, which saw posters bearing such iconic slogans as "Careless Talk Costs Lives"’ festooned in cafes and bars, the Ministry of Information commissioned these short films from Ealing Studios, with a hefty combined budget of £6,000. The films follow a similar narrative but vary in their characterisation and choice of locations in order to target audiences of different classes - a deliberate distribution strategy on the part of the MOI, which wanted the message to be disseminated as widely as possible.

This film was made with working-class audiences in mind, and distributed to cinemas in industrial areas. The main action is divided between a factory laboratory, where two scientists (one of them played by Alec Clunes, father of Martin) are about to take delivery of a recovered enemy aircraft, from which they hope to learn vital secrets; the factory gates, where worker Alf learns he has to work late to unload the lorry carrying the miraculously undamaged plane; and a local pub, where the loose-tongued Alf, in exchange for a pint of mild and bitter, reveals too much to an inquisitive stranger.

Interestingly, a later survey of wartime propaganda films by Mass Observation reported that the three films were better received by middle-class audiences than working-class ones. In some working-class quarters, it reported, there were objections to the casting of the spies as workers and the upper-class characters as heroes. The other films in the trilogy, Dangerous Comment, with its spy bartender and heroic officers, and All Hands, in which the Nazi agents include a café proprietress, were designed for the upper and middle classes respectively.

Cast: Sebastian Shaw (Charles Hampton); Dorothy Hyson (Mrs Hampton); Edward Chapman (Alf Small); Judy Campbell (Doris); George Merritt (Fred Perkins); Lloyd Pearson (Jake); Alec Clunes (Harry); George Relph (spy); Johnnie Schofield (man)

Director: John Paddy Carstairs, Production Company: Ealing Studios, Sponsor: Ministry of Information, Producer: Michael Balcon, Script by: Jeffrey Dell, Roger MacDougall, Basil Dearden

    Secrets Of Body Language
    Documentary

    Published on Jul 7, 2014
Body language is a form of non-verbal communication, which consists of body posture, gestures, facial expressions, and eye movements. Humans send and interpret such signals almost entirely subconsciously.

John Borg attests that human communication consists of 93 percent body language and paralinguistic cues, while only 7% of communication consists of words themselves; however, Albert Mehrabian, the researcher whose 1960s work is the source of these statistics, has stated that this is a misunderstanding of the findings.

Others assert that research has suggested that between 60 and 70 percent of all meaning is derived from nonverbal behavior.

Delve into the science of non-verbal signals as this very visual and highly entertaining expose reveals the hidden language in which 93% of human communication takes place.

From President Franklin D. Roosevelt, to British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and 2008 presidential hopefuls Senators Barack Obama and John McCain, see how both politicians and celebrities use the subtle movements of body language to persuade masses, establish power, and advance careers. .

How To Survive Occupied America: “Red Dawn Just Started… And You’re In It”

    Jeremiah Johnson
    February 9th, 2016
    Ready Nutrition

This article was originally published by Jeremiah Johnson at Tess Pennington’s Ready Nutrition and is the second part in a series. You can read the first part of the series here: How To Survive Occupied America: “To Survive, You Must Possess Two Qualities”

Readers, we briefed you here in the last article in this series on the needs for the two keys to survive an occupied United States: resolve and patience. You are an intelligent and informed readership who knows about basic fundamentals of survival and then some. This “venue” or “arena” (the better term) is your country under occupation, either by a tyrannical dictatorship (we are in a soft dictatorship at the moment), and/or a foreign army or armies. Ladies and Gentlemen, fasten your seatbelts. This info is “hardball” and you will need it; you need all the tools you can acquire.

Now that CISA was passed into law and (by Ted Cruz’s admission on national television)the government is monitoring approximately 100% of all telephone calls, you will see how serious this article is. First, let’s take care of this disclaimer:

The information presented in this article is for information and entertainment purposes only. Many of the procedures and items here, if practiced would violate Federal, State, and local laws and statutes. The owners, editors, and writers of this site are not advocating acting in any way contrary to Federal, State, or local laws or statutes. Furthermore, ReadyNutrition.com and its staff do not condone, recommend, or approve of violent acts, actions or techniques outlined in this article. Consult your lawyer for questions pertaining to any of the information in this article and obey all applicable laws and statutes.

    Scenario
It is a Friday evening, and you’re on your way home from work. Your son and daughter are making dinner for you, and you’re looking forward to the weekend. You have about three more miles to go to reach your house in a middle-class suburban neighborhood. Suddenly your Lexus goes dead and starts to coast on the road to a stop, just as you look out your passenger-side window: it appears to be a star, but very near, with a type of “halo” around it up above. The star flickers out, and all of the street lights, the lights in the homes, the businesses, and cars nearby flicker out. You realize two things: you’ve been hit by an EMP, and the dinner plans for tonight with the family will probably be postponed indefinitely.

That is how quickly it will happen when it happens. Self-assessment and situational awareness are your first priorities. Quickly! Let’s run through it. Is your “go” bag in your vehicle, with enough food for three days, water for one day, a weapon, ammo, extra clothing, and all of the things we covered in previous articles? Quickly! Do you have good hiking boots? Change into them now: you’re walking, because the Lexus just became a two-ton paperweight. Commo? Did you pack a Yaesu hand-held shortwave in Mylar layers and material to shield it from the EMP, or Motorola’s?

Better get moving. “Red Dawn” just started…in the “open-air” theatre…and you’re in it. Do you see how critical it is to have all of this stuff done yesterday? Hope the kids know and rehearsed the drills…hope there is a plan of initial contact, when the event occurs. It’s dark, with a modicum of light on the horizon…. but you see a tremendous multitude of planes coming in from the west, and what looks to be popcorn dropping from the sky. Nope: they’re parachutes, because the airborne operation is taking place, just at the turn from dusk to nightfall.

Refer to the previous articles on staying out of FEMA camps as well as the one on the 6 Rules for Survival to refresh on basics. School’s out, here, and the occupation has begun.

You know the situation in the world. The Russians and the Chinese do not play softball, and they are on a war footing at all times. The invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968 followed after Soviet doctrine (and the military doctrine of then is currently in use by Russia now), as such:

“The strategic offensive has one alternative form. This is sometimes known as a “Friday evening” offensive…. The operation therefore begins…. with a surprise attack by a group of Fronts against one or more countries…this operation caught the Czechs off guard – profiting by the Friday evening relaxation…after a working week.”

(“Inside the Soviet Army,” by Viktor Suvorov)

Such a Friday attack, as can be seen here, isn’t coincidence: it’s doctrine, and it’s intelligent doctrine. Such was the venue for the remake of the “Red Dawn” film with the EMP accomplished right after the Friday football game.

    What Do You Do?
Now what do you do? You go home, as quickly as possible. You will have 24-48 hours of total confusion and chaos. Hopefully you do not live in an area that is a nuclear target. Hopefully you have at the ready a good supply of cash, precious metals, food, and supplies in the home and the means to take them somewhere and get out of dodge.

JJ’s scenario preference is the invasion by the foreign power over that of the totalitarian government. The reason: a war of the totalitarians versus the people is a war of attrition that only weakens the nation overall and still leaves it ripe for conquest by a foreign power while it is in the throes of weakness. With the invasion, you will know on sight who the enemies are and that you must engage them.

Engagement: to oppose, combat, harass, or interdict an enemy or opponent. The mission of the U.S. Army Infantry is simple: to close with the enemy and destroy him. Canning season is over, and that greenhouse project you planned on finishing in the Spring may have to wait indefinitely. Congratulations! You just stepped into the shoes of the Founding Fathers! Now comes the time to “water the Tree of Liberty,” and Jefferson’s words will have to be kept in mind as you put into practice the words of Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox, and Rogers’ Rangers.

Are you trained up? Are you a part of a small group, or are you keeping it in the family? I hope you studied those infantry tactics and small unit tactics mentioned in other articles. You need to be fully trained up on first aid, communications, and you should be in possession of a smattering of whatever language the foreign invader speaks.

There are three big differences between a foreign invader and a totalitarian dictatorship. Firstly, the latter is already here in the U.S. and almost “omnipresent” regarding all 50 states. Secondly, their supplies are here, and resupply is readily available. Third, the culture and language is not alien to the dictatorship: they have an “edge” regarding the control and understanding of their citizenry.

Under the dictatorship, all commerce will either halt completely or be completely nationalized (remember that EO that Obama signed, the Defense Preparedness Ready Resources Initiative, nationalizing everything, including human labor under his “czars,” his cabinet in time of national emergency). Under the dictatorship all movement by the citizens will be monitored and controlled: some form of internal passport will emerge. Under the dictatorship, all Constitutional rights will be abrogated and relegated to the pages of history.

Better learn about this stuff while there’s still time. Here’s a great work that will elucidate many things for you: Government by Emergency,” by Dr. Gary North, Ph.D., American Bureau of Economic Research, Ft. Worth, TX, 1991. It has it all: bartering and “black marketing,” evasion, breakdown of controls over the economy, collapse of the banks, depression, and tyranny.

How about when MRAP’s and armored assault vehicles cruise down Main Street into Happyville? How will you deal with them? Here’s another great work for you: “The Bridge at Andau,” by James A. Michener, 1957 (no Card Catalog Number or ISBN: sorry! It’s out of print, but you can find it on Amazon.com if you look it up). It is the true story of the Hungarian Revolution against the U.S.S.R. of October 23, 1957, and the civilian resistance before the Soviets crushed them.

Guerilla warfare is what this is, whether against a foreign invader or a totalitarian dictatorship. This will take years to fix with a high price and no guarantee of victory. Remember those two keys I gave to you last week? Resolve and patience. It is the only way.

Subjects for your personal study and research:

    • Black marketing/underground economies (read of occupied nations under the Third Reich during WWII)
    • Infantry and guerilla tactics (Sun Tzu, Machiavelli, and US DOD publications)
    • Special Forces manuals and literature (how to form teams, train them, and how to conduct unconventional/guerilla warfare).
    • There are other disciplines to study to help you in your “schooling,” that you can imagine but will not be mentioned here in this article, regarding firearms and tactics and their ilk. Use your imagination.
Keep up the study, the prepping, and an eye out for more to come.

So say we do lose all grid power.

Has anyone stopped to ask what will happen to the 140 or so Nuclear power plants across the United States?

It’s said that each Nuclear power plant had a two week reserve of Diesel fuel to keep the fuel rods cool.

So lets say that several of the Nuclear power plants run out of Diesel fuel. This is plausible because it is unrealistic to believe that the U.S. government could adequately and continuously maintain a Diesel fuel supply to keep them cool.

As it currently stands, at least 24 of those Nuclear power plants are the same exact design as those that have been melting down at Fukishima, Japan since March of 2011.

Has anyone stopped to think that, in reality, the United States may well be rendered totally inhabitable for at least 1,000 years?

Has anyone stopped to consider that there are an untold number of chemical plants that would need to be maintained by some external power source?

I personally know for a fact that there is at least 100 million pounds of Anhydrous Ammonia in just the Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky tri-state area. The refrigeration units that utilize this deadly chemical MUST be cycled down properly, else they will rupture and… every community for at least 100 miles down wind will become potential victims of atmospheric poisoning.

The fact is, when that inevitable EMP attack does finally happen, there will be far more threats to your safety and well being than the obvious scenarios that are typically discussed.

There will be extremely hazardous elements that will catch you completely unaware because they have been hidden behind the veil of societies advanced industrial infrastructure and it’s mandated safeguards that will no longer exist.

Just some additional food for thought!!!
