    I run Ubuntu Linux on a T61 that was given to me because it was too slow. Doubled the RAM added a flash drive (total less than $100) and the machine flies

    I can't remember if it was the T-60 or the T-61, but one had a SATA 2 chipset throttled back to Sata 1. Putting in a SSD had a smaller difference ... but when I flashed a hack into the bios opening up the Sata 2 pipe, man that kicked ass.
