Striper Madness! - Big Striped Bass On Bunker Schools 11/8/2016
    EliasVFishing

    Published on Nov 11, 2016
Bunker school fishing! Some good fish here close to 30lbs fishing in the combat zone. Working bunker several different ways....off the bottom, suspended, snag and drop etc put five striped bass into the kayak on this trip.

Snagged with a custom rod made by Nick chunkzcustoms.com and also worked a Daiwa Saltist 6'6" M Power and Abu Garcia 6500 with 30lb kastking braid. 50lb leaders.

Fish from a Hobie Outback and am fully outfitted in a dry suit here. Don't believe the reports the fishing is difficult this fall, but fish are to be had. They are moving daily and not that consistent.

Kayak Fishing: Surviving the Pecos River - Trailer
    Robert Field

    Published on Nov 15, 2016
The infamous Devil's River in the southwest Texas desert near the border of Mexico tops many kayak anglers' bucket lists. But its lesser known sister, the Lower Pecos River, doesn't get much media attention. Two years ago, Bert and Dan Rodriguez attempted to paddle the 56 miles from Pandale to the Pecos High Bridge. Halfway through their trip, flash floods upriver caught up with them, forcing them to abandon their kayaks and gear and climb out of the deep canyon to be evacuated via helicopter.

Now, two years later, the father and son duo have returned to the Pecos to attempt the expedition again. Robert will tag along to document the trip, and their foursome is rounded out by Daniel Underbrink, an experienced outdoorsman who has paddled this river several times.

The group will encounter scorpions, rattlesnakes, wild mustangs and mountain lions as they navigate almost constant rapids up to Class III in this inhospitable landscape. Oh, and they'll catch plenty of nice bass along the way.

Watch to find out if the crew can make it to the end and help Bert and Dan finish what they started. The full miniseries will air in Spring 2017.

VLOG #255- GOOD, BAD & the UGLY of Truck Bed Extender for Kayaks!
    Yak Motley

    Published on Nov 15, 2016
In this VLOG, I go over the good and the bad of transporting kayaks with a truck bed extender. My truck bed extender is from Harbor Freight. They can be very useful for the kayak fisherman. I have hauled my kayaks around for over a year now using a truck bed extender. It is definitely an item that is great for kayak fishing especially if you do not want to hassle with a trailer.

This is how I normally transport more than one kayak when going kayak fishing with both my Hobie Outback and Hobie Quest 13. It has worked well but I have also recently purchased a trailer for my kayak .

With plans on going deep, David and I stopped at the jetty to assess the conditions and after an hour and moving several times, we decided to make the run just out to the closest reef, #5 located between 5 and 6 miles out of Ponce Inlet.
Rather than go to my 'super secret' Red Snapper hole, I went to another location at the reef and found another Red Snapper hole.. and another. They are just everywhere out there. Of the 30+ game fish we caught at the reef, (not counting grunts) ALL were Red Snapper. Not a single other species was caught. These fish DESPERATELY need thinning to allow other game fish like Mangrove Snapper and Lane Snapper and Porgy and flounder to reestablish a presence at our reefs.

Topwater Stripers Tight to Shore, + Tog Fishing
    Sea-Money Fishing

    Published on Nov 16, 2016
Video is from Sat 11/12/16, I drove to the shore with my kayak to hopefully get on some Stripers, with Tog being the back up plan. I was feeling pretty lazy once I got down there and figured Id snoop around the beaches before launching, when I came across a school of bait with some fish on it, grabbed my light rod and started fishing, getting a few fish to eat a smack it jr, landing one small keeper at 32" and a short. It wasn't easy, the fish were finicky, more bait than fish, and eventually the crowds grew to the point I lost interest and launched the yak to try for tog. The toggin was OK, I fished some structure tight to shore and ended up finding a bite, getting a few decent tog.

It has been a tough fall, the past few weeks have proven challenging, the bites are few and far between, tons of baitfish out there with no fish on them, I think most people out there are finding that the bite is tough, it is super frustrating going out there and giving it your all and coming up short only to hear about the bite that happened 10 miles north or south of you, it has been that kind of fall.

OCEAN SUNFISH Sighted in Asbury Park NJ While Striper Fishing
    Sea-Money Fishing

    Published on Nov 20, 2016
    3:26 MOLA (Ocean Sunfish)

Elias (https://www.youtube.com/user/eliasvai...) and I attempt to find some Striped Bass on Nov 14th 2016 in Asbury Park NJ. I was disappointed to find that the Big Stripers were no where to be found and instead, just a few small Bass were hanging around the bunker schools. At about 9 am I spotted a strange looking fin slowly headed my way and knew immediately it was the unmistakable Tail Fin of an Ocean Sunfish, also known as a Mola Mola. I got to hang out with the fish for a minute or 2 before I spooked him and he disappeared into the depths. It seemed weird that an Ocean Sunfish would be hanging out here in mid November when water temps were 55 degrees, notice during the underwater clip the rash on the top of the fish, he had some sort of disease no doubt and although he appeared healthy, he better get out to warmer water soon or he will not survive.

After that, fishing grinded to a halt and it wasn't until a little later some Bird play appeared over some Big Bluefish who were assaulting some baitfish, we caught a couple blues each before they vanished, we chased birdplay the rest of the day and each got a couple more small Bass before heading in. I would consider this a slow day of fishing but luckily we were able to find some fish here and there throughout the day. Seeing a Mola up close definitely made it worth it.

Hope you enjoy watching, I really hope the fishing in NJ saltwaters stays alive awhile longer...

Catch n Cook Striped Bass Surf Casting New Jersey
    FishAholic Fishing

    Published on Nov 20, 2016
So I went down to the shore 11/16-19th to try and fish and film for some striped bass. For awhile ive been hearing the fishing has been amazing but for the three days I was down roughing it in the truck it was really tough. Lots of bait on some days and a few finicky fish or no bait and no fish. Usually I can fish certain spots and always have some luck picking at a few bass throughout the day. But it seems most of the fish were bunker oriented roaming around looking for bait. Anyways still had a good time thats fishing.

Los Buzos Resort in Cambutal, Panama offers kayak anglers a chance to target bucket list species off the Pacific coast. Target species include wahoo, yellowfin tuna, roosterfish, cubera snapper, pacific sailfish and there's always the possibility of a marlin hitting someone's lure.

Los Buzos offers a variety of services and activities. The resort hosts large kayak fishing trips of 10 or more anglers as well as horseback tours through the rainforest, surf/SUP tours, river float trips, waterfall hikes, and many other daily activities and adventures.

Bass Fishing REDEMPTION!!! Ultimate Counter to a MASSIVE Texas Cold Front!
    1Rod1ReelFishing

    Published on Nov 22, 2016
What an awesome day of bass fishing! After catching nothing but dinks at one of the best lakes in the country the day before, we decided to fish a lake in East Texas for the final day of the trip. Without a doubt, hitting this power plant lake was the correct decision. Upon arrival, warm water was gushing from the generators, and even though the air temp was 35 degrees, the water was a balmy 80, and these bass were ready to CHOMP!!!

Strong winds, flying hair and big waves hilighted this day along with many Red Snapper, a couple sharks and a sundry variety of minor other fish. And a surprise Goliath.
After 5 hours of continuous large waves and strong winds, my SP70 Minn Kota Trolling motor had almost battled to the end of being able to hold position.. My 2 big deep cell batteries had dropped to well below 25%. Never gotten that low before but then again, it is good to know just how long the batteries will last in brutal and continuous 70, 80 and 90% power drain over a 5 hour period.

November 23 2016 New Jersey/Delaware Bay Fishing Report with Jim Hutchinson, Jr.
    The Fisherman Magazine

    Published on Nov 24, 2016
Stiff westerlies and an arctic blast may have put a chill in the air, but it’s also heated things up in the surf with striped bass and bluefish blitzes throughout the range. “The best fishing ever had,” and days that just make you say “wow” is how it’s been described to start this Thanksgiving week as peanut bunker have been corralled in tight to the North and Central Jersey beaches.

Stripers to 30 and 40 pounds or more have moved into Atlantic and Cape May county waters in recent days, while the first ocean run wave of stripers seems also to have arrived in Delaware since our last report.

Monster catches showcased in this week’s video forecast include New Jersey blackfish from 17 to 22 pounds, Dream Boat bluefish eclipsing the 20-pound mark, while offshore sea bass catches are reported in the 5- to 7-pound range. If you’ve got some extra time this Thanksgiving weekend, make sure you to save some room for fishing; give thanks for a strong run of fall fishing, as it could last well into the holiday season.

Check out our weekend video forecast for more information on some of the latest, greatest catches in the region.

November 23, 2016 Long Island Metro Fishing Report with Fred Golofaro
    The Fisherman Magazine

    Published on Nov 24, 2016
The holiday shopping season is officially upon us with the arrival of Black Friday and the December issue out this week is chock full of great gift ideas for the angler in your life, or to help you fill out your own holiday wish list. Be sure to check out.

On the fishing front, everyone’s anxious to see how the fishing scene shapes up after strong winds shut down most fishing for three solid days. Expect the fall striper run to remain solid, especially on the west end of the Island. Blackfishing should only get better as water temps continue to fall, although you will likely have to start looking towards a little deeper water than last week.

The fishing for jumbo sea bass on offshore wrecks and at Block Island should continue unabated into the twelfth month and remains a solid bet for this weekend. You can also count on some big porgies and some cod adding to your sea bass take.

Thanksgiving morning and weekend traditionally draws a big surf crowd to the beaches and this year should be no different given the number of fish still around through last weekend.

Well, that’s right; it’s already the Thanksgiving holiday and if the old wind machine would just take it easy for a couple of days, there are some really good fishing opportunities to be had as I’ll discuss in just a minute.

But first I want to remind subscribers that the December issue of The Fisherman Magazine is out this week and it is the final printed magazine of 2016. In this issue we have our annual Holiday Gift Guide with a ton of great gift-giving items for that special fisherman in your life. This comes just in time to hit those Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales at your local tackle shop. There is also a feature outlining the winter mini travel options of blackfish and tuna along the mid-Atlantic, as well as some great local features so be sure to check it all out!

    • I got word that some sea herring have already begun to pop up down in Norwalk Harbor according to the guys at Fisherman’s World. This should signal at least a month or two of good fishing for these winter visitors, and check out the December Hot Spot of the Month for a look at how you can score a few yourself.

    • On Monday I received a call from Capt Greg of the Black Hawk as he has been slamming a mix of sea bass, blackfish, scup and cod out around Block Island, and he wanted me to remind everyone that the boat is now sailing from Dodson’s Boatyard in Stonington Borough which gets him to the SW corner of Block in just over an hour. The weather looks good for this weekend if you want to join him for some great fishing.

    Rhode Island
    • Blackfishing still remains a solid bet but a lot of anglers are transitioning to cod as they move to deeper water rockpiles. The Frances Fleet reports another week of improved catches of cod with many limits of black sea bass to be had as well. Now remember that sea bass remains open in RI waters until the end of the year so you’ll need to get in on this bite sooner rather than later.

    • And speaking of cod, Mike Wade of Watch Hill Outfitters reports that a few guys fishing the breachways of South County connected with some cod last week so you just never know what that next drift might produce! Back in the 70s it was pretty common to land some bruiser cod from the South County beaches, check out “Behind the Cod Story” by Frank Daignault for a look at this forgotten but possibly viable fishery…

    Massachusetts
    • With the commercial tuna season closing a few weeks back and most of the bigger stripers on their way out, Bay State anglers have been hitting the local lakes, ponds and rivers and doing quite well. Trout fishing is always a great option this time of year and the New England states stock some extra trout in the fall. Check out “Turkey Day Trout Time” for a look at where you might score a Thanksgiving rainbow or brown to compliment those turkey leftovers!

Cook your Catfish THAI STYLE: The Fried Red Curry Catfish Recipe! (Philadelphia, PA)
    Extreme Philly Fishing

    Published on Nov 23, 2016

November 23rd, 2016 -- HAPPY THANKSGIVING IN ADVANCE, FELLAS! In this mood of celebration, let my brother-in-law and I share with you guys a new fish recipe video here on the Channel. Hah. Today I am bringing you guys a THAI recipe on Catfish! If you have never attempted cuisine from Thailand, hit the Asian market and cook something different for the family. ;)

Let me know if you want to see my brother-in-law cook again here on the Channel!

FRIED CATFISH, "THAI RED CURRY STYLE" RECIPE
    Preparation+Cooking time: 25-30 minutes (10 of preparation)

    Ingredients:

    -- 1 Catfish, 2.0-2.5lbs. Whole fish.
    -- 1 Teaspoon of Sugar
    -- 1/2 Teaspoon of Salt
    -- 4 Teaspoons of Pickled Rhizome (Kra-Chai)
-- 2 Teaspoons of Fish Sauce
-- 2 Teaspoons of Oyster Sauce
-- 2 Teaspoons of Red Curry Paste (Mae Ploy brand recommended)
-- 2 pieces of Garlic, chopped
    -- 1 Jalapeno (OPTIONAL)
    -- A few Basil Leaves
    -- LOTS of oil. LOL
    -- 1/2 cup of water

    PREPARATION:

-- Clean the Catfish. Make sure to take all of its guts out, including the bloody stripe in its up-belly. Remove any excess slime from its skin. Use paper towel to remove excess moisture. If the Catfish was frozen, make sure to defrost until the fish is at room temperature.

-- Cut the fish in 1 inch thick steaks, in a vertical motion. 1 inch is recommended; tough, the thickness of the fish is really up to you.

-- Place the cut steaks of fish in a bowl. Marinate it with salt (up to your taste). Half a teaspoon, uniformly, is recommended.

The preparation process should take you about 10 minutes.

    COOKING THE FISH:

    (1) Set up your heat on max and warm up your pan. Once the pan is warm, add enough oil in it, so that the oil will cover approximately half of your fish steaks when they are all in. If you are unsure of the right quantity, put more oil in the pan than less. It is always good to be on the safe side. ;)

    (2) Once the oil heats up, place the fish steaks on the pan and fry.

    (3) Fry one side of the fish steaks for 5-6 minutes (time depends on the thickness of the cut), or until it is golden-brown. At this point, flip the steaks.

    (4) Fry the other side of the fish steaks for an additional 5-6 minutes, or until golden-brown.

    (5) Your fish is ready! Place them on a plate and use papertowels to absorb some of the oil left on them. They should be "crispy on the outside and moist on the inside."

The cooking process for the fish should take you about 10-12 minutes.

    COOKING THE SAUCE:

As you saw in the video, cooking the sauce is an extremely FAST process. Also, just to note: everyone likes their sauce a different way! For a more concentrated sauce with stronger flavor, add more curry paste and less water. Reduce. For a less concentrated sauce, do the opposite and reduce.

    (1) Set up your heat on max and warm up your pan. Once the pan is warm, add 6 spoons of oil and let it heat. Make sure to distribute the oil evenly, so that the other ingredients don't stick on the pan.

    (2) Add the garlic and curry paste to the oil and stir.

    (3) Add the fish sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar. 1/4 cup of water. Stir constantly to avoid the sauce getting burnt!

    (4) Add the pickled rhizome. Keep stirrying like your life depends on it!

    (5) As soon as your sauce turns into an uniform mix, add the remaining 1/4 water and reduce to your taste.

    (6) You may add the optional jalapeno pepper at this point to increase the spiciness of the dish. While reducing, add the basil leaves (at your convenience) for added flavor!

Pour the sauce over your fried Catfish and ENJOY YOUR MEAL!

The cooking process for the sauce should take you no longer than 5 minutes.

    EXTRA NOTES:

-- This recipe works for different types of Catfish. It doesn't necessarily need to be for Channel Catfish. You can try it with Flathead Catfish, Blue Catfish, different types of Bullhead Catfish, etc.

-- If the fish that you are using is NOT in the range of 2.0-2.5lbs, make sure you adapt the measurements of the recipe to the quantity you will be cooking! Recall: cooking is like chemistry in the kitchen! Double the fish, double the portions. ;)

VLOG #259- CAN YOU EAT THIS?
    Yak Motley

    Published on Nov 23, 2016
In VLOG , we took the Hobie kayaks out for a two hour kayak fishing trip in between college football games and checked out the Simpson River in Pensacola, Florida. We were using Gulp Shrimp for bait in search of some Redfish and Speckle Trout. We decided to try cooking one of those Sail Catfish (Gaftop) and see what it tastes like.

The Pelicans were in a super feeding frenzy but we had a lot of fun on a college football afternoon! Also Clemson lost to University of Pittsburg and Alabama won. Roll Tide!

    Beautiful Late November Day

What a gorgeous day we had on this late November day. One of the few light wind days so Robbie and I buddy boated out to a couple further out artificial reefs and put some fish in the cooler.
My primary cam battery died prematurely so I always keep a backup cam on board and put it on but the battery in it was also weak so I was unable to show you near the end of the day, all of the BSB (Black Sea Bass), Red Snapper and one more large Mangrove Snapper Robbie caught. I will be putting a couple EXTRA batteries in the boat from now on.
Both Robbie and I caught about the same amount of fish but I simply caught more Red Snapper.. several in the 25" range and he caught BSB and a Mangrove. It was a GREAT day on the water....

Egg Float Bass on Peanuts and Blues on Pencils. Jersey Surf Fishing!
    FishAholic Fishing

    Published on Nov 26, 2016
Went down to the shore on 11/21 which was a chilly November day. We had a windy cold front move through and even with 6" of snow at my house in North Jersey I made it down to the beach and found some gator bluefish on pencils and schoolie bass live lining peanuts on a wooden egg float. Then I went in the car to warm up a little and I traveled south a bit and met up with Seamoney Fishing https://www.youtube.com/user/MrCmcintee and tried a five fish, fish off but the bite died.

    HISTORY+FLUOROCARBON+POWERBAIT= MORE TROUT!!! (Philadelphia, PA)
    Extreme Philly Fishing

    Published on Nov 27, 2016

November 25th, 2016 -- It has been a while, but here is another video of the "lecture series." Note that this is an EDUCATIONAL VIDEO in a Lecture/Tutorial format; thus, it is very lengthy! Below is the index for it:

03:30 -- THE HISTORY OF TROUT FISHING
21:08 -- THE BENEFITS OF FLUOROCARBON LINE FOR TROUT FISHING (I would like to thank KastKing for sponsoring this video!)
30:09 -- HOW TO USE & HOW BERKLEY POWERBAIT WORKS
50:44 -- TROUT FISHING CLIPS AT THE PENNYPACK CREEK (FISHING STARTS HERE)

It took me FOREVER to film this video. Believe me. Haha. So, I truly hope that my fanatic learners on the Channel get some knowledge out of this one. Become the best Pokemon Master...errr...I mean, stocked Trout angler out there by learning all the secrets of finesse stocked Trout fishing with fluorocarbon and PowerBait on an ultra-light setup.

I recommend using all of that with an ULTRA-LIGHT setup. That means a 5'6"-7'0" rod, fast action, with a 500 model reel. Here is my recommendation for those items:

Shimano Sedona 500 FD. If you can't find that one, then a Shimano Sienna 500 FD: http://amzn.to/2gvkpx6*
Daiwa Spinmatic Rod, 5'6", 2 pieces. If you can't find that one, a Daiwa Spinmatic-C Spin Rod, 7'0", 2 pieces: http://amzn.to/2fBRtyZ* (gives you more of a feeling of a noodle rod)

If you enjoyed learning and watching this lecture video, let me know! If I get LOTS of positive feedback here on the Channel, I really don't mind bringing more long lecture/tutorial educational videos with a combination of theory and field experience.

MONSTROUS Jersey Shore Bluefish - Near Record Kayak Blues!
    EliasVFishing

    Published on Nov 27, 2016
    Near 20lber at 22:00

Me and Chris got together (https://www.youtube.com/user/MrCmcintee) to look for some of the big striped bass working their way down the coast on bunker schools but ran into the biggest bluefish of the season! I ended up editing a few fish out but we started on bunker schools chasing them south for 3-4 miles until we decided this wasn't a good idea anymore. Then trolling north put us on wave after wave of absolute tanks.

I rigged up with blues on my conventional outfit with a 3 foot 80lb leader and a snelled 9/0 Gamakatsu Octopus hook. Snagged bunker off the schools and sank them to the bottom on a 4 oz. Fishfinder clip.

I am confident I lost a 20lb class fish boat side (third fish of the trip) and many of the ones caught were 15lb and change. A truly under appreciated fish at times, blues in this class are absolute tanks taking drag like no other inshore fish.

Fish trolling were caught on EliasVFishing Swim Shads in white and ghost mullet with a 1 oz jig head, trolled and a few casted. Also stuck with 80lb leader here. Chris caught on north bar darters and tsunami talkin poppers along with live bunker. Those shads are available here: http://www.eliasvfishing.bigcartel.com/ or https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...

Rods & Reels used here: Daiwa Saltist M Action 6'6" w/ Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 6500 with 30lb KastKing Braided Line
Cabelas Fish Eagle II 1/2 oz to 1 1/2 oz MH with a KastKing Kodiak 3000 with 30lb Fortis KastKing Braided line

    I fish from a 2011 Hobie Outback.

Sorry for the wait uploading this video but my laptop had a problem but all fixed now. Anyway I went down to the Jersey shore 11/24 looking for a repeat from a couple days ago and at first it was challenging to find some fish. Lots of water to cover in Jersey and the fish can show up anywhere. But with the help of some friends EliasVFishing and Seamoney fishing I headed in the right directing and got into some good action.

    Fishing After a Storm!
    TAFishing

    Published on Nov 30, 2016
Some of the best Beach Fishing you can get is after Storm. In the UK Winter we get plenty of storms and it stirs up the Sea bed and provides more food for fish. HOWEVER, it can bring with it the dreaded weed! Graeme and Mike fish on a Beach near Milford on the South Coast of England. They get some problems with weed building up on the line but Graeme gives you some tips on what to do in that situation. As dusk falls and the night time approaches, the fishing starts to pick up!

December 1, 2016 New Jersey/Delaware Bay Fishing Report with Jim Hutchinson, Jr.
    The Fisherman Magazine

    Published on Dec 2, 2016
Thanksgiving surf action along the North and Central Jersey coast was epic, if you could sometimes forget about the shoulder to shoulder beaches and focus purely on blitz conditions! With mid-week pea soup, heavy rains and southerly winds keeping many casters indoors (and perhaps back at work), it will be interesting to see how the weekend ahead fares for those tossing pencils, metal-lips and swim shads.

Fairly sustained W/NW winds are forecast through Sunday, which could put more bait, bass and a few bluefish in tight to the beach, while boaters dragging mojos and plugs from South Jersey to the Delaware Coast are now finding a few good fish in the 30- and 40-pound class on the troll - it’s been a mix of peanuts and adult bunker, so plan accordingly!

Party boats continue to hit the offshore grounds for jumbo sea bass and slab porgies, while warmer than normal water temps have kept the monster toggin’ in tighter to the beach. Used to be that folks turned their attention to deer camp at the start of December, yet bass and blackfish are redirecting attention back to the east. Catch ‘em up!
