I Fished With a FISHAHOLIC - Freezing Rain Lake Trout Jigging
    EliasVFishing

    Published on Jan 8, 2017
New intro for vids...tell me if you dig it!

Hooked up with Rich Fishaholic....if you aren't a sub of his check his channel out. Serious fisherman and absolutely amazing at all the stuff he does in the area....https://www.youtube.com/user/fishahol...

    Air temps: 39 degrees
    Water temps: 36 degrees
East winds 10-15 and a steady rain

We jigged binsky blade baits on some rock ledges in some gnarly conditions. I went 3 for 4 dropping a pretty good one on this outing. Sorry if the laker jigging is a little boring, but it's the best option locally for me at the moment.

Safety stuff - Kokatat Meridian drysuit, Fleece Neck, Buff, three thermal, Smartwools thickest socks and another layer of thin moisture wicking socks.

    Kayak- 2016 Hobie Outback
Jigging outfit- Bass Pro M Action rod and Ecooda 2000 Blackhawk with 15lb KastKing braided line
Trolling - Sufix Advanced Leadcore and 8 foot leader of 8lb flourocarbon. Trolling a green and silver 4" stinger spoon..

    All fish released

Ice Fishing the Flash Freeze, Philadelphia
    Sea-Money Fishing

    Published on Jan 12, 2017
Air temperatures plummeted for 3 days of below freezing weather, highs in the 20's and lows around 10 degrees made some ice in a hurry, fished on some borderline safe ice at scotts run lake hoping to find some Brown Trout but instead caught some perch.. the hot jig was a pink pimple tipped with waxowrms... today the highs are forecasted to be in the mid 60's in philadelphia so whatever ice we had locally will become very questionable..

DISCLAIMER: Always be safe out on the ice, it is not recommended to fish on less than 3" of ice, 4" is considered plenty safe with 3"-4" usually being OK as long as its fresh black ice, 2"-3" can be done if you are cautious and confident but always use extreme caution!

Coldest Fishing Day of my Life (-25°F / -31°C) - VLOG #14 - ft. Jon B, Eric Haataja & Doug Wegner
    BlacktipH

    Published on Jan 17, 2017
This is the second day of my trip to Milwaukee and it was the coldest fishing day of my life. With subzero temperatures reaching -25°F (-31°C), we had to break ice just to get the boat in the water. It was so cold that the eyeballs of the fish would freeze in less than one minute. We were fishing on Lake Michigan.

This was a 2 day shrimping adventure. Sunday night, there were only a few shrimp and I brought home maybe 1/4 of a gallon but decided to make the trip again on Monday night to a different locale. Home run..! Brought home 5 gallons of which half were eating size and the other half were bait size.
Now that it looks like the shrimp are moving in quantity, I will be taking John out shrimping Tuesday night and hope to make some better/clearer video clips.

January 19, 2017 New Jersey/Delaware Bay Fishing Report with Jim Hutchinson, Jr.
    The Fisherman Magazine

    Published on Jan 19, 2017
While temperatures are expected to climb somewhere into the 50-degree range, a little bit of rain is also in the outlook through this coming weekend. The NOAA Marine forecast for inshore waters from Friday through the early part of Sunday looks good though, which is welcome news to those looking to get out to score on tautog off the New Jersey and Delaware coast in the next few days, as we report on several double-digit blackfish from local wrecks and reefs.

Party boats hitting the offshore grounds are finding good fishing for cod, jumbo porgies and the occasional pollock, while jetty jocks are hanging sabiki rigs at the inlets for a little light tackle herring or tossing small plugs and bucktails and the occasional striper in the surf.

Some folks have stumbled into a surprising bite on striped bass in the back bays of New Jersey, but as a reminder that you’re not allowed to target stripers (no, not even catch and release legally) in the back bays, creeks and rivers in the Garden State until March 1. For those keeping tabs at home, that’s a little over five weeks before winter flounder and bass on!

A couple of local fishing flea markets on tap in Pennsylvania and New York this Saturday, January 21 that folks may find worth the trip.

This week's reports for NJ/DE Bay region at http://www.thefisherman.com/index.cfm...

January 19, 2017 Long Island Metro Fishing Report with Fred Golofaro
    The Fisherman Magazine

    Published on Jan 19, 2017
Perhaps the most exciting news this week is the excellent trout fishing reported from the Connetquot River in Connetquot River State Park Preserve. The unjustified demise of the river’s world class trout fishery due to IPN disease several years ago had literally wiped the Conny off of the map and it has taken many dedicated people to restore the river, hatchery and its fishery to its current state. The park remains open through the winter with two daily sessions at 8 a.m. and noon from Wednesday through Sunday. Sessions are $20 and it is fly fishing only. All trout must be released. For more info, call 631-581-1005.

There was some good codfishing to be had on the East End early in the week. The Viking Fivestar reported a great day on Monday as its charter group put over 100 cod in the coolers. The better herring action now appears to be to the west, with Magnolia Pier and Canarsie Pier both still producing decent numbers.

White perch are also popping up on the radar in tidal waters like the Connetquot, Carmans and Poxabogue Creek.

January 19, 2017 New England Fishing Report with Toby Lapinski
    The Fisherman Magazine

    Published on Jan 19, 2017
We are just about one week away from the official start to show season with The New England Fishing & Outdoor Expo at the Boxborough Regency Hotel & Conference Center in Boxboro, MA on January 27 – 29. This is our first time attending the show and we are excited to be a part of it. Check back with next week’s video for more details on the event, and as always be sure to keep an eye to both our printed and online events calendars for the most complete and up-to-date list of all the fishing-related events across the region and beyond. I also have a single, concise list of where we at the New England edition can be found this winter and you can check this out by clicking on the YouTube card right now at the upper right hand corner of the video.

    Connecticut
    • Despite no real widespread safe ice across the state, anglers willing to travel north are finding both hard water and cooperative fish. Panfishing has been lights-out for anglers fishing with ultra-tiny jigs, and fishers hanging the largest of live and dead baits below tip-ups are reporting steady flags on a range of pike from shorties to arm-length monsters.

    • Also of note, with the excellent cod fishing taking place off Block Island many Connecticut anglers are either taking the drive to Rhode Island or hopping aboard local boats like the Black Hawk sailing out of Stonington for the time being to hit the fertile cod grounds to our east.

    Rhode Island
    • Mother Nature finally took it easy on the cod boats and the fishing was downright fantastic off Block Island for the last few days. Pretty much everyone got out Saturday and Sunday with quite a few boats looking to extend the action into the week. Lots of limit catches were reported and both fresh-shucked clams and jigs produced quite well. A good bycatch of ling, ocean perch and even some pollock were also reported to top off the catches. The early weekend forecast looks pretty good for now and with the excellent fishing being had I strongly advise anyone looking to fish aboard a party boat this weekend to reserve your spot ASAP!

    Massachusetts
    • I hate to keep saying it, but most of the eastern part of Massachusetts remains stuck in-between fishable ice and open water. There are some highlights nonetheless as Red Top weighed-in a pair of state-pin crappie early in the week for a couple of who found some hard water and loaded up on a mess of slabs. Out on the Cape the trout fishing in Nickerson State Park continues to be the best bet for those looking to bend a rod.

    • An item of interest as reported by the Goose Hummock, commercial shell fishermen working out on Stellwagen are still seeing bluefin tuna. Of course, no one has reported heading out there to tangle with them but it’s cool to know they are there.

search, the needle fish at 10:50 reminded me of years back. Down in the Sea of Cortez, I was pulling my line through the water, to straighten out the twist in the line. I had no swivel, no lure, no hook, nothing, just line & I caught one of those needle fish. He had sewn himself up the line & was wrapped tight. He was about 30 inches. They are good eats !

Dead Body Reported in the River? Winter Catfish Fishing
    Sea-Money Fishing

    Published on Jan 30, 2017
Was trying to do some local Philadelphia Catfishing one day recently and stumbled into a "crime scene" where Police were investigating a dead body reported in the river. Turns out it was just a log, and I proceeded to catch some Catfish. Used cut sunfish for bait in the afternoon hours catching a few Channel Cats.

The cops blocking off the first parking lot I was going to park in were there for trump protests, had nothing to do with the reported body. The cops and fire trucks on the side of the road later were there for the body. And, the lady who cut me off, dont think too deep into it, the roads are full of clowns, this is not unusual or worth putting much thought into..

Also if you are wondering, I have seen one time a body retrieved from the river here, 2 years ago in march, only time I have actually witnessed it. There are a lot of bodies retrieved from the Schuylkill over the coarse of each year but seeing it is very rare.

TRAPPING SHINERS FOR BAIT WITH MINNOW TRAPS
    Working Class Woodsman

    Published on Jan 30, 2017
Sarge and I set some minnow traps today to get some bait for ice fishing and our cusk lines. We use stale bread for bait mostly and these traps also wok very well for crayfish/crawdads. Always be careful when walking on the ice and check with local laws about trapping bait fish. Some lakes prohibit the use of bait fish traps.

    Published on Jan 28, 2017
First off, let me apologize for the wind noise and the audio quality. It gets windy and cold out on the ice and that's all part of it. We caught no fish on tip-ups today and did well when we started jigging. The lake we are on is loaded with smelt and sometimes they need to see something different..

Ice Fishing Brook Trout - Under Water View!
    Sea-Money Fishing

    Published on Jan 27, 2017
Stumbled upon some of the coolest ice fishing I have experienced in the brook trout state, aka Pennsylvania. These fish were holding in a small area of shallow water in Lake X, I had actually spent a couple hours punching a dozen or 2 holes in different areas of this lake before finding the fish, once I found them I realized that the original video I was trying to make which was pretty revealing wasn't going to fly, so I scrapped that and just made this video of underwater views of Brook Trout reacting to different jigs and baits. What started as super slow dismal ice fishing turned to some awesome sight fishing and I had to come back as soon as I could for another session.

Ice Fishing Rod vs Striped Bass Challenge
    FishAholic Fishing

    Published on Jan 29, 2017
I won't reveal the location this body of water is already extremely heavily pressured so I recommend if you know the area keep it to yourself. This river is located in New England and can be found with a little research it is one of the most popular holdover fisheries.
    Thanks
Was on my way home from Cape Cod to NJ and I decided to just stop off and do some holdover striper fishing but with just a little twist. 24" ice rod spooled with 4lb test vs striped bass.

February 2, 2017 New Jersey/Delaware Bay Fishing Report with Jim Hutchinson, Jr.
    The Fisherman Magazine

    Published on Feb 3, 2017
Breaking news from The Fisherman on February 2 2017, as Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) votes on Option 5 for summer flounder management.

Get the full story here - http://www.thefisherman.com/index.cfm...

For many surfcasters, the countdown to the March 1 back bay striped bass opener in New Jersey has officially entered the homestretch during the first full week of February. Tautog continue to offer the best bet for boats leaving ports from the Highlands in New Jersey to Indian River Inlet in Delaware, though weekly trips to the offshore wrecks for cod and jumbo porgies continue out of Manasquan Inlet (including one offshore weakfish reported on the Jamaica!)

With plenty of open water in the local lakes and rivers, freshwater action is keeping many casters busy on inland waters, though a dedicated handful continue tossing small plastics and dunking clams in the wash in hopes of a stray striper. Creek perch fishing should get to an earlier than normal start this month for those folks looking to for light tackle grass shrimp action.

February 2, 2017 Long Island Metro Fishing Report with Fred Golofaro
    The Fisherman Magazine

    Published on Feb 3, 2017
It has been a relatively mild winter temperature wise, but the wind has been relentless. It’s made getting offshore to the cod grounds a major issue for most boats, some of which have remained tied to the dock for more than a week. The only reports filed this week came from the Viking Starship which sailed on both Sunday and Monday. Judging by their report, there is still a good body of cod within range of Montauk when the weather cooperates.

Elsewhere in the salt, herring action has been scattered and less consistent. White perch are just beginning to make their presence felt in the tidal creeks with a few fish being reported from behind Taco Bell in West Babylon, the Argyle Spillway, the Connetquot River and Carmans River. Freshwater fans are revisiting Connetquot River State Park now that the trout fishery has made a healthy recovery.

The 2017 fluke regulations are a major topic of discussion in angling circles but it is too early to say just how things will play out. New York has opted to push for Option 5 which would reduce last season’s bag form 5 to 3 and increase the size limit an inch to 19 inches but would maintain the same number of days in the season. It remains to be seen whether the ASMFC’s technical committee will approve that option since it only factors in the 30 percent reduction called for, but does not include the 11 percent penalty for overfishing last season’s quota.

If you’re not fishing this weekend, check out the Long Island Winter Fishing Flea Market at Hofstra on Saturday, and the Route 110 Fishing Flea Market on Sunday.

February 2, 2017 New England Fishing Report with Toby Lapinski
    The Fisherman Magazine

    Published on Feb 3, 2017
Thank you to everyone who came out to see us at the New England Fishing & Outdoor Expo this past weekend in Boxboro. It was a great show and we were happy to be a part of it.

Our next shows will be the CMTA Hartford Boat Show from February 9-12 in Hartford, CT, and the New England Boat Show in Boston, MA from February 11-19. I’ll have more information on both of those shows in next week’s video, or you can check out our events calendar online in the mean time.

    Connecticut
    • Without any real ice to speak of, Connecticut anglers are taking advantage of the open-water opportunities to be had for everything from pike to perch. If your favorite local pond remains ice-free, then why not fish it from shore, boat or kayak? Those same fish that you would normally be targeting below a hole with jigs and tip-ups are equally likely to feed on a lure or shiner cast from shore. Trout fishing has been excellent and remains open state-wide throughout February and then the TMA’s remain open from there out. Be sure to consult the Angler’s Guide to verify the regs in your chosen water body. Along the coast, the tidals are still producing holdover stripers as well.

    Rhode Island
    • The majority of cod boats only managed to sail once or twice in the last week and a half, but when the Frances Fleet made it out this past Monday and Tuesday, they reported excellent results with lots of fish landed and the pool going just shy of 20 pounds both days. The weekend isn’t looking great right now, but if the weather takes just a slight turn for the better then the boats might just be able to get out.

    • And if cod fishing isn’t your thing, then why not give the Narragansett Surfcasters 4th Annual used tackle sale and surf day a visit? The event takes place on Saturday from 930-130 in Narragansett, RI and will feature plug builders, rod builders, antique lures and more.

    Massachusetts
    • Barring a major cold snap in the next couple of weeks, it doesn’t look like there will be much of an ice fishing season on the Cape this winter and that’s just fine as there is still plenty of great fishing to be had. The Cape Cod trout fishery doesn’t get as much press as it deserves, but this winter it has really taken center stage with some downright awesome action on browns and rainbows. As bycatch, many of the trouters are also seeing some excellent catches of smallmouth bass and even trophy-class pickerel.

    • In regulation news, the New England Fishery Management Council submitted the following recommendation to the National Marine Fisheries Service last week for the 2017 Gulf of Maine cod and haddock regulations for recreational anglers. This is just a recommendation and the NMFS has the final say in the eventual regulations.
Gulf of Maine Cod: ZERO possession
Gulf of Maine Haddock: A 12-fish per-person bag limit, 17-inch minimum length and two closed seasons as follows:
    • September 17, 2017 through October 31, 2017
    • March 1, 2018 through April 14, 2018

FORGET the GEESE, PELICANS are my new ENEMIES (Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, FL)
    Extreme Philly Fishing

    Published on Feb 3, 2017

January 24th, 2017 -- Afternoon of the same day (previous vid: gobies in the morning)! My mom finally gave up and decided to tag along with me on a fishing session. Haha. 63 years old, and she NEVER even held a fishing rod in her hands. Legit, my mother never ever had any interest in fishing whatsoever. But as they say, never say never, right?! The PELICANS probably knew about this, because from the shadows, they were plotting their evil schemes to corrupt our plans! Lol. They are seriously my new enemies, though...FORGET the GEESE.

CUSK FISHING, CREATURES OF THE NIGHT, ONE OF THE BEST FISH SWIMMING !!
    Working Class Woodsman

    Published on Feb 1, 2017
I have to say one of my favorite fish to catch and eat is the cusk. It's good in chowder, deep fried or just roll it in flour. It's basically a fresh water cod. in the state of NH you are allowed 6 traps and they have to be checked every 24 hours. You have to have a minimum 1 ounce weight touching the bottom and a leader of no more than 6 inches long. Your name and town you live in also has to be displayed on the trap. If your not fishing for these creatures of the night you need to try it..

Call it what you will, it only means good eating !! I personally think Cusk is one of the best tasting fish swimming. Many people ask me how to clean them and how to cook them. They are great in a chowder but also delicious just fried up in corn flower.
