CATCH and COOK on the Rocks Making Fish Tacos from This Monkey Faced Eel
    Fisherman's Life

    Published on Apr 6, 2017
Was out trying to film the good old Lingcod catch and cook. Daniel and I went on the Jetty with some squid and we knew there was a good chance to catch a rockfish, ling, cabezon or Monkeyface Prickle Back Eel. Ended up catching the latter and decided to cook it since eels this size don't come around too often. Made our fire, filleted, gutted, skinned and cleaned the fish before seasoning it with salt, pepper, and mesquite seasoning. Once the fish was cooked Daniel threw it all together in a taco and I made myself a bowl with cilantro, avocado, onions, salsa and butter. Highly recommended whether you cook it on the rocks or take it home and enjoy it that way!

Also, I've been talking with Outdoor Pro Shop and worked out a deal for you guys! 10% off any regular priced order with the Coupon Code: fishermanslife

This was from a recent trip out to a close reef where I could see the water had finally cleared up enough to drop the underwater cams down. I had 3 cams on the rig but one failed to record just after putting it in the water but the other 2 worked perfectly.
Due to the amount of detritus in the water (marine snow) it is very hard to see more than 10' to 15' and I had to up the contrast and alter the green hue to just to make the video view-able and not like looking thru a fog bank.

My Best Advice For Fishing Soft Baits or Bucktails - Striped Bass Tips - "CADENCE"
    EliasVFishing

    Published on Apr 8, 2017
Here is my best advice when fishing with soft plastics and bucktail/strip combos. If you are not incorporating extra cadence into your retrieve, this is your biggest mistake. Before selecting size and profile and make sure you are doing this!

It will make a 10 to 1 difference at times. Paddletails, jerktails, all of the above hold true.

Kayak Fishing: Surviving the Pecos River - Part 3
    Robert Field

    Published on Apr 11, 2017
Two years ago, Bert and Dan Rodriguez attempted to kayak fish their way down 61 miles of the Lower Pecos River from Pandale Crossing to the Pecos High Bridge. Halfway through their trip, flash floods trapped them at their campsite, forcing them to abandon their gear and evacuate via helicopter.

Now, two years later, Bert and Dan have returned to the Pecos to finish what they started, and they've invited me along to document the trip.

In Part Three, we spend a day exploring Lewis Canyon, where we'll find rock carvings that are thousands of years old. Then on Day Four, we'll navigate several big rapids on our way to Painted Canyon, one of the most beautiful campsites I've ever stayed at.

Come along for the adventure in part three of this four-part miniseries.

Florida Fishing Road Trip Part 1: Spanish in the Back
    Sea-Money Fishing

    Published on Apr 14, 2017
Romo (https://www.youtube.com/user/romo7493) and myself embark on a 19 hours drive south to the promised region of Florida to Kayak Fish for a few days, we left our home state of PA early Thursday night on March 30th with no real idea of where we were headed, we were coming through Baltimore when we started researching the Destin area and found out that the Cobia fishing was decent there and figured why not, we drove through rain and thunder and eventually made it to the Emerald Coast of Destin only to find windier conditions than forecasted, we spent the evening exploring and probing the local inlet with no bites. We woke up at a very average hour of 6:30 the next morning and checked out the beach, waves were still a bit high to comfortably surf launch so we instead fished the back waters near a bridge. Jigged and plugged some docks and flats and eventually found some Spanish around the bridge, overall the fishing was very tough and we concluded that we probably should have gone to the East Coast somewhere....... Eventually my mirage drive for my kayak broke and we called it around 4pm, went and got a new part for the kayak and back to the hotel for maintenence and shrimp and also to Grill some Spanish.... Hopefully you enjoy! Will update the thumbnail and throw some extra ads in here when I get back from chunkin the delaware... it is seriously slow out there... but the 50 is close, hopefully today its somethin better than just catfish

Searching for Giant Cobia and Monster Snapper Fishing, Catch N Cook - 4K
    BlacktipH

    Published on Apr 18, 2017
I flew up to go fishing in Destin Florida with Capt. Preston Muller and the goal was to catch my personal best cobia and my first ever red snapper. The cobia were not present, but the snapper bite was on fire! I caught a giant remora suckerfish and as a joke both myself and Capt. Preston agreed to have a Catch N Cook with the remora. We were very surprised with the results.

April 20, 2017 New Jersey/Delaware Bay Fishing Report with Jim Hutchinson, Jr.
    The Fisherman Magazine

    Published on Apr 21, 2017
Pretty much on schedule, hungry bluefish hit the Delaware and Jersey beaches over the Easter Weekend, with schools popping up along local bays and estuaries throughout this third full week of April. A few teen-sized choppers have hit lures and chunks, which should also usher in the 2017 weakfish season as well (a few tiderunners already reported in the Barnegat Bay area in particular in the past week!) Dinner-size black drum continue to find their way into the reports for beach and bank casters from the Delaware Bayshore to Great Bay, as some of the boat guys start targeting the clam and mussel beds this week in search of a score. Meanwhile the North Jersey “big bass” bite is underway on the Raritan with folks taking a few really good fish on chunks and on the troll. Up the Delaware River, trophy striped bass reports continue north of the Salem River, while the spring shad run up past Trenton towards the Eason, PA area has busted out as a big boom in 2017! Over 600 anglers are signed up for this weekend’s Bi-State Shad Fishing Contest from April 20-23 boasting an estimated top prize of $10,000 for the heaviest shad of the contest, along with a chance to win a $12,000 G3 Boat and Yamaha Jet Motor with LoadRite Trailer Courtesy of Mayberry Sales and Service in Port Murray, NJ. Spring has sprung!

    NEW YORK FLUKE REGS SET
With Option 5 of the fluke management plan approved by ASMFC’s technical committee and signed off on by NOAA Tuesday, New York’s Department of Conservation is proceeding with emergency regulations to adopt the approved measures. The season will remain the same as last year – May 17 to September 21 – but the size limit will increase one inch to 19 inches and the bag limit will drop from five fish to three.
The fishing picture continues to improve with some quality cod now being caught along the South Shore on offshore wrecks, increasing numbers of flounder being reported from several areas, particularly the Western Sound, and striper action spreading as far east as the Montauk surf. Most of the bass action is made up of small fish, with most of the bigger fish still locked into Raritan Bay. Don’t forget to log your own reports onto thefisherman.com. It’s as simple as clicking on the red button in the report section.

We are already getting some excellent feedback and participation, so post away as you get out on the water this spring!

    Connecticut
    • It has been another week of improvement across Connecticut with pretty much everything from trout to stripers to winter flounder being caught. About the only thing I haven’t really heard much about is blackfish but I’m not sure if that is more due to lack of fish or fishing pressure. The rivers all have good striper activity with some large fish reported this week. Chris Wahl of the Black Hall Outfitters Fishing Team sent me a picture of one of several high teen bass that he landed this week on Daiwa SP minnows and 9-inch Plum Island Swimbait Mondos. He said it was a pick of schoolies before a school of larger fish moved into his area.

    Rhode Island
    • As reported last week, schoolie bass started hitting along the beaches in Rhode Island thanks to the increase in both in air and water temperatures and they really kicked into gear this week! Regular Fisherman contributor Dave Pickering was out a few times in South County and reports landing an absolute load of fish from 7 to about 20 inches on both small jigs as well as his spring staple, the shrimp fly teaser. At times he was getting fish on both lures and reports somewhere in excess of 20 double-headers. Fish are spread out pretty much from the Pawcatuck River on through Narragansett, so there are plenty of fish to go around.

    Massachusetts
    • Freshwater fishing is still tough to beat (although I’ll get to some excellent saltwater fishing in a moment) and both trout and bass continue to duke it out for the best bet right now. Red Top keeps weighing-in some impressive local largemouth bass, and this week they had fish up to 9-plus pounds weighed and released by conservation-minded anglers.

    • On the saltwater front, the big news is the opening of haddock season this past Saturday in the Gulf of Maine. Now while anglers may be prohibited from taking cod this year, haddock are more than making up for things. The Yankee Fleet said their first trip of the seasons on Saturday was a huge success with a full boat of anglers going home with bags of haddock fillets, and if you ask me, haddock are better eating fish so get out there now while this fishery is still taking place in relatively shallow water.

Know this is a shorter video, but I think you'll enjoy the content! The last few weeks of school are going to be crazy with work so bare with me. Besides...most fish are on beds down here anyway, and that's never been my favorite way to catch them. What I'm REALLY stoked for is when I'll get to go back down to VA, which should be once my finals are over!

The "ONE SENKO" Bass Fishing CHALLENGE!!! (Philadelphia, PA)
    Extreme Philly Fishing

    Published on Apr 22, 2017

April 17th, 2017 -- My 39th outing of 2017! I decided to scout the Schuylkill River in Center City, Philadelphia, PA. After watching the River for a few minutes, I decided to go with Bass fishing as the plan of the day (rainy conditions).

After catching many Bass that day on a SINGLE Gary Yamamoto Senko, I decided to turn the video into a Challenge. Hah. Thus, the "ONE SENKO" Bass Fishing Challenge was born!

To attempt the One Senko Bass Fishing Challenge, one needs to follow the following rules:
    (1) Use only ONE SENKO for the day!!! Not two, not three. Only a single piece! The usage of O-rings is permitted.
    (2) End the Challenge if the Senko is lost to the fish or a snag.
    (3) Count only the fishes of the Micropterus genus. I.e. Largemouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Smallmouth Bass, etc.

Do you think you can beat my score?! Try it out! If you decide to film and upload your session, send me the hyperlink via sheng12182527@gmail.com. I will eventually link it below!

Beautiful but windy day with constant rolling waves but had a blast catching a variety of fish.
Some of you have asked what my new gloves are and why I wear them. I personally wear them because I am always getting small cuts on my hands from the line and fish and it offers better protection from that. But, another benefit is that these "Coolibar" spandex gloves offer is something like SPF50 UV protection. So a double benefit. Also, I have gotten a few questions as to the size and kind of GPS trolling motor on my Key West 186 (18'6"). Well, I purchased this boat WITH the Minn Kota SP70 trolling motor already attached and mounted. And it is perfect for the ocean and has never let me down in holding my 'anchored' position. However, occasionally, when I fish in the river where currents can be much stronger and constant, the SP70 can overheat and shut down thanks to a thermal overload protection switch. If I were to need to BUY a new trolling motor for this 18'6" boat, I would bump it up to a 'Minn Kota Riptide Terrova 80' which would add 10 more lbs of thrust. But for a boat in the 19+' range I would go with the 112 lb Riptide Terrova 112.

    Catch and Cook: Bonito
    Yak Motley

    Published on Apr 17, 2017
I took a catch and cook trip out to Pensacola Beach, Florida in order to find a King Mackerel, Cobia or a Bonito. We caught alot of Little Tunny or AKA Bonito (false Albacore) as we could handle. It was a blast. We caught about 5 False Albacores and Bonitos a piece. I used a GOTCHA plug the whole day to catch all but one of the Tunnys offshore while we were kayak fishing.

Kayak Fishing: WATCH THIS before BUYING a KAYAK !!!!
    Yak Motley

    Published on Apr 20, 2017
This video is about how to choose a kayak for kayak fishing and kayaking here on the Gulf coast of Florida. Choosing the right kayak can be a very stressful decision. I go through my thoughts on what you should look for when purchasing a kayak. I talk about inshore kayak fishing, kayaking in general and offshore big game kayaking. I personally have a Hobie Outback and Hobie Quest 13 which I use a lot. Do not be afraid to buy kayaks used or on sale at the end of the year. Just make a list of the kayaks you would like to have, get you money ready and wait. Kayaks do tend to hold their value well though.

Catch & Cook 11: GRILLED STRIPED BASS
    EliasVFishing

    Published on Apr 24, 2017
I think you saw this one coming, had a guided trip with Carlos and it was tough for NY's opening day. Combined about six fish in very slow conditions. Kept a 31" fish caught on an EliasVFishing new green shad with a 1.5 oz leadhead in 5 feet of water.

Cut 'er up and did a simple 30 minute marinade in lemon, garlic, olive oil, salt & pepper after stripping up the bloodline. A few beers and friends and we were ready!

Catch n Cook SHAD, Crappie, Walleye, Kentucky BASS
    Fisherman's Life

    Published on Apr 23, 2017
This was the last chance we had to fish in Arkansas before the thunderstorms came in so we decided to do a catch and cook. TJ told me that there are three fish that people mainly eat: crappie, walleye and Kentucky bass. To my surprise, we managed to catch all three types of fish for the perfect chance to taste them all at once and compare. We also caught many Shad on a gill net and I was very curious to see how they taste. No one wanted to try them at first, but in the end everyone had one!
    ...
On second thought, I think it's a tie between crappie and walleye for flavor and which fish I would target if I were to cook and eat one.
