In this video, I would like to address the ever growing trend of smaller, more classically sized watches. I have previously produced a video of this type on small dive watches but I feel that a more general video is in order.

    Seiko SARB033
    Longines Conquest Heritage
    Stowa Flieger Classic 36

How to use a Compass Bezel - Watch and Learn #17
    Long Island Watch

    Published on Feb 9, 2017
In today's episode of Watch and Learn, we show you how to use the compass bezel. Many watches have the compass markings on the bezel or on the dial, but many people do not know how to use it. This handy little feature can help you find the 4 cardinal directions with only knowing where the sun is.

Using the compass bezel is based off the "boy scout trick" for finding North/South with nothing more than a watch. Hopefully after watching this video, you will always find your way home, or to safety! :)

The Seiko SKX007 Legend Reborn - Rolex Submariner Pro Hunter Military Stealth Mod - Watch Review
    The Urban Gentry

    Published on Feb 8, 2017
In today's video I review my latest Seiko SKX, yes another one! But this one is very different. Pro Hunter are a UK based watchmaker who customise Rolex watches to homage very rare and highly collectable military Rolex submariners of the past. But what if an equally skilled watchmaker did that to the legendary SKX007 dive watch? Today I take a look at and review just that!

The Seamaster Planet Ocean Review - One Of Omega's Best Luxury Automatic Dive Watches Yet?
    The Urban Gentry

    Published on Feb 10, 2017
In today's video I review one of Omega's more recent and higher end dive watches. The Seamaster Planet Ocean professional (ref. 232.30.42.21.01.003) has a truly unique and impressive list of features. It is powered by the 8500 caliber Co-Axial based automatic movement. Although very modern in scale and style, it is blended beautifully with classic design traits taken from some of Omega's best and most legendary divers of the past. The Planet Ocean has everything Omega excels at and propels it into the 21st century as a marvel of engineering. A truly robust, precise and tastefully classic luxury diver, is it the best diver from Omega yet? Today I give my full review.

The only watch I have is my grandfathers railroad pocket-watch which accompanied him while he was fighting in ww2. It still works but loses a couple of minutes a week.

How to use the dive watch bezel - Watch and Learn #18
    Long Island Watch

    Published on Feb 16, 2017
In today's episode of Watch and Learn, we will tackle how to use the dive watch bezel. Dive watches are probably the most popular style of watch on the market today, and they all use some sort of turning bezel with minute graduations on it. But how do you use it? Or how does a diver use it?

We're going to show you how to use the bezel in a few different ways, and also show you how the uni-directional bezel is a major safety feature on the watch. We will use many examples from both Orient and Seiko.

The Hamilton Khaki King Review - One Of The Best Swiss Automatic & Iconic Field Watches Under $500
    The Urban Gentry

    Published on Feb 18, 2017
Today I review an old favourite and a watch I know very well. The Hamilton Khaki King (H64455523) is exactly as the name suggests. It is the more regal and slightly more elegant version of the legendary classic Hamilton Khaki military field watch. I am a former owner of the black dial version (H64455533) but somewhat over looked is the version I am reviewing today. Unlike its manual wind iconic forbearers, this version has a stunningly attractive dial, the added day and date complication, powered by a rock solid ETA, sapphire glass, and even a display back. With its more contemporary larger size and styling still very much still based on well over a half a century of tradition, this affordable classic packs one hell of a punch for well under $500. The American born and now Swiss made Hamilton Khaki watches have served the soldiers from the battlefields of World War 2, the Korean War, Vietnam War, and many more, so with that all being said, is it still one of the best automatics you can buy new for under $500?

Germany is an incredible country of rich culture, amazing industrial strength, an unmistakable history of design innovation, and an amazing attention to detail to anything they make. Omega Planet Ocean 39.5mm Or Speedmaster? + Tudor Black Bay 36mm & A 2nd Seiko Pogue Unboxing!
    The Urban Gentry

    Published on Feb 22, 2017
In today's video I finally get the Tudor Black Bay 36mm in for review and share my initial impressions during an unboxing. Not only does this highly demanded watch arrive but a second Seiko Pogue too! This time the same EXACT version worn by William Pogue. Stay tuned for reviews of both watches! I end the video by taking a look at the Omega watches I am considering for my own collection. After being recently converted to a believer with the Seamaster Planet Ocean review I did recently, I deliberate between the new 39.5mm version, a stunning 321 based vintage Seamaster chronograph and a stunning Speedmaster Professional with a moon phase.

Today I review one of the Longines Master Collection, reference L2.673.4.78.3. Longines is a Swiss brand with an legendary history and it was long over due I take a look. So why not start with something classy and packed full of vintage charm like this watch that packs a hell of a lot of punch for it's price. Not only is this automatic a triple date calendar, it is has a 24 hours indicator, a moonphase and a chronograph too. With it's heritage inspired looks and luxury quality this may be one of the best ways of getting a complication rich timepiece without paying the big bucks.

Along the way, the mechanics of the spring/bezel will be discussed, so you can get a better understanding of how the bezel works in only one direction.

Unboxing My Latest Omega Seamaster, 50 Watches That Changed The World, My Birthday Haul & Next Rolex
    The Urban Gentry

    Published on Mar 3, 2017
Today I finally add an Omega Seamaster back to the collection and share the unboxing of this latest acquisition. I then take a look at some of the coolest gifts I received from family and loved ones for a recent birthday. Among them is a fantastic book on 50 watches that changed the world from the amazing Design Museum in London. Also a breathtakingly beautiful massive Taschen book on the Italian artist and genius Caravaggio. A new Neca figure from the Alien franchise to accompany my Ripley and then a super cool gold and carnelian roman signet ring. I end the video with a look at the two next Rolex watches I am considering and trying to decide between for my next piece.

The Tudor Black Bay 36 Review - An Almost Perfect Affordable Luxury Automatic Watch For Any Occasion
    The Urban Gentry

    Published on Mar 5, 2017
Today I review a watch I have been dying to get my hands on, ever since it was released at 2016 Baselworld. The Tudor Heritage Black Bay 36 (Ref. 79500) is the smallest and perhaps the most versatile in the Black Bay family. With its compact size, contemporary clean elegance, and robust build, this is one charming little automatic, suited for almost any occasion. The looks are heavily inspired by core elements from the Tudor Submariner legacy. Combined with Rolex quality and powered by solidly accurate ETA, this might just be one of the best entry level luxury watches out there.

The High End of Affordable Watches - A selection of $1500 and up pieces
    Long Island Watch

    Published on Mar 7, 2017
In today's video, we show you four watches from the other side of the affordable spectrum, that is, watches that are all over $1500 available from our store. While the bulk of our offerings are under $500, these few models break the affordable barrier, but still offer a fantastic value.

Automatic chronographs, Swiss and German Made, superior coatings and tritium lights are just some of the refinements that come at this price point. Take a look and see what makes these models special, and command a higher price.

Ferro & Company - The Above Ground Level Watch Review - The Best Aviation Chronograph Under $300?
    The Urban Gentry

    Published on Mar 7, 2017
Today I review another exciting micro brand that is currently on kickstarter. As the name suggests, the AGL (Above Ground Level) by Ferro & Company is a super cool aviation chronograph with a ton of influences that bring something truly refreshing and affordable to the table. This Swiss made watch is heavily inspired by the stylings of 1940 aviation but also with hints of Breguet Aeronavale, the Breitling Navitimer and even a touch of the Panerai in there too. The result is an extremely well made, unique and fun watch that packs in a hell of a punch for a very reasonable price. To find out more about this limited edition watch and to help support the project check out the following kickstarter:

Story of an Icon: Seiko Tuna
    Armand The Watch Guy

    Published on Mar 8, 2017
In this video I would like to talk about a true icon of the diving world, the Seiko Tuna: a unique design in this field. This is a watch which, in my opinion, is the only true competitor for the Omega Seamaster PloProf as the finest piece of horological marine engineering of the 1970s.

Omega Speedmaster Reduced Bargains - The Best Automatic Chronograph Under $2000 + Breitling Unboxing
    The Urban Gentry

    Published on Mar 11, 2017
A few months ago I held a poll in the UGWC Facebook group to see what my audience thought the most iconic watch of all time was. It was no surprise that the Omega Speedmaster Professional "Moon Watch" was at the number one spot. However, for many, its large 42mm size and manually wound powered movement make it a difficult choice. So what is the second best choice if you are looking for the similar iconic design but in a slightly smaller size, automatic, and at a more affordable price point? The Speedmaster Reduced is there for those very reasons and for a long time has been greatly overlooked as a fantastic chronograph in its own right. Even today you can get it for considerably less on the used market compared to its bigger "professional" sibling. In this video I look at the Japanese market on Ebay that has been flooded with them for many years and at the time of making this video, still is. I conclude with an unboxing of a remarkably elegant Breitling and share some watch related gifts I received from a supporter of the channel.

The Timex Expedition Scout Wristwatch: The Full Nick Shabazz Review
    Nick Shabazz

    Published on Mar 13, 2017
Today, a look at an inexpensive wristwatch with decent legibility, a metal case, and a nifty backlight. A Rolex it is not, but it's a solid watch, and at the end of the day, it's absolutely "good enough" for your EDC.
