    Long Island Watch

    Published on May 9, 2017
In today's video, we have some more new releases from Basel. From Red Star, we have a mechanical chronograph with moonphase (available in two dial colors) as well as a 70 hour power reserve automatic (also available in two dial colors).

To get either a mechanical chrono with moonphase or a 70 hour auto at a price this low is mostly unheard of. These watches are available now at our website:

I've always wanted a solid gold submariner, I've had a two-tone for almost 10 years, I'm probably just going to get an aftermarket case and bracelet in solid gold since I found a good supplier and it's reasonable, I have little interest in spending 20k+ on a real one, used even.

Flashy watches have always been a status symbol for men. Now women are buying them too – and it’s nothing to do with telling the time: Why the new arm candy’s on your wrist
    • Vanessa Redgrave admitted hers is one of her most treasured possessions
    • Nicole Kidman’s, meanwhile, is so rare there are only a handful in the world
    • Exclusive designer handbags have been forgotten in favour of the luxury watch

How to Regulate an Automatic Wristwatch - Watch and Learn #25
    Long Island Watch

    Published on May 11, 2017
In today's video, we demonstrate how to regulate an automatic or mechanical wristwatch. First, we explain the difference between regulation and adjustment. These terms are often used interchangeably, but they have quite different meanings. Regulation simply means slowing down or speeding up the movement.

We will use a timegrapher to assist in timing the watch, but it is not necessary. All you truly need is a pointy tool and something to remove the caseback. If you have a well running watch, you can regulate it to be more accurate if desired. Or, if you just want some knowledge on how to do it, this video will help you.

Lastly, we will put a Rolex Yachtmaster on the timegrapher to show you how an adjusted movement performs.

The Best $400 I Ever Spent! - A Super Classy Mechanical Watch From Luxury Swiss Brand Omega
    The Urban Gentry

    Published on May 13, 2017
In today's video I review a unique and classy watch packed with character. This 1950s manual wind Omega (Ref.2496) has true vintage charm, a dial like marble, and is made by an iconic luxury Swiss brand with an in-house mechanical movement. This is the best $400 I have ever spent on a watch so far! Not only is it amazing value for money but Omega watches from this era have become increasingly fashionable after a similar reference was seen on Ryan Gosling's wrist in the 2016 Hollywood movie "La La Land".

Top 10 Underrated Best Watches From $500 to $1000 - Omega, Sinn, Fortis, Breitling, Hamilton & More
    The Urban Gentry

    Published on May 22, 2017
Last week I asked my audience during a video, what price range are they interested in when it comes to spending on watches? The most frequent response was $500 to $1000. So today I take a look at my top 10 personal selection of underrated watches at this price range. Rather then the usual Gentry favourites like the Oris Aquis, Squale 1521, Sinn 104, Seiko Divers etc. that dominate this price range, I select 10 that I feel offer great value for money, heritage and quality.
Feel free to hare your faves in the comments, thank you.

The Best True Military Pilot Swiss Watch Under $200 - The Marathon Navigator Review
    The Urban Gentry

    Published on May 24, 2017
Today I review a watch I recently repurchased and have owned before. The Marathon Navigator (Ref. WW194013) is a tried and tested true mil-spec watch that has been proven in the field (or skies I should say) by pilots, parachutists, law enforcement and soldiers of elite special forces. With an ultra legible military style and a rock solid ETA movement inside, it already offers incredible value for money and punches way above its price point. But what truly makes this Swiss made watch stand apart from the crowd is it's made by a brand with a rich heritage of producing the highest quality timepieces for the armed forces around the world since World War II.
At the price point of many fashion watches, this watch needs more attention to the civilian market and the respect it deserves! I am extremely proud to have it back for good in my personal collection as I really did not appreciate it for what if offers the first time around.

5 Reasons Why An Omega Seamaster Is The Best Choice For Your First Luxury Watch From $500+ (WWT#83)
    The Urban Gentry

    Published on May 26, 2017
One of the most frequently asked questions I receive is what watch do I recommend for a first luxury Swiss watch? Today I share my top choice and personal favourite. In this video I discuss 5 key reasons why buying an Omega Seamaster on the used market is a great place to start. No matter if it is a 1950s/60s Mad Men style piece or the 90s James Bond icon, the Seamaster packs a hell of a lot for as low as $500 to $3000 and upwards.

Some of the more interesting watches from my personal collection - A watchseller's watches
    Long Island Watch

    Published on May 25, 2017
In today's video, I would like to turn a bit personal. I will show you 5 watches from my personal collection - pieces that are different, certainly not watches you come across everyday.

The first watch is a Sinn 757 UTC-Chronograph. This is an automatic chrono/gmt watch that is a beast. Toss in tegimented steel and you have a watch that looks new almost forever. (estimated retail $4K)

The second one is an Android Mystique Skeleton in ceramic. This watch has a floating skeleton movement, super cool! And the ceramic case takes on different hues in different lights. (estimated retail $350)

Next up is a Seiko White Knight. This is a Seiko you do not see around too often. Out of production for years now, this is my only white dialed diver. It's another auto 200 Meter diver with the usual Seiko accouterments. (estimated retail $250)

Fourth is a Nomos Tangente. The slightest of the bunch at 35mm and about 6mm thick, it has a gorgeous exhibition caseback highlighting the mechanical, hand wound movement. (estimated retail $1500)

Last is the only quartz of the bunch, the Scrooge McDuck "Time is Money" watch. This was a limited run watch sold by The Disney Store in the early 90's. The watch still runs perfectly, and reminds me of Duck Tales and Scrooge McDuck's daily dips in his money bin! (estimated retail $150)

I hope you enjoy these pieces as much as I do. And if not, maybe it will open your eyes to the breadth of watches out there.

The Omega Planet Ocean 8900: Nick's Early Impressions
    Nick Shabazz

    Published on May 15, 2017
Today, by popular request, I'll give some first impressions on my Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 8900 (215.30.44.21.03.001). It's way too early to give a full review, but I can definitely offer some early thoughts. And, in short, there are things I love, things I don't love, and I've been enjoying the heck out of wearing it.
