The current all-time high for bitcoin was reached yesterday when it hit $3360.87. It backed off and it is currently at 3236.02 (Coindesk.com quote) as I type this post. People selling Bitcoin Cash to buy bitcoin.

Another day another milestone for bitcoin. It is now at $3802.53 (Coindesk.com quote) as I type this post. I do not know exactly what the current all-time high is at this point but it apparently may not matter right now since it continues to go up each day. It has gone up about $1800 since the most recent low of around $2000 during the bitcoin hardfork uncertainty/controversy of mid last month. It look more than likely we will see $4000 bitcoin very soon.

This popcorn tastes very good. I need to get a whole lot more for Bitcoin $4000.

When it crashes it will wipe out lots of people. Is anybody actually using Bitcoin for transactions?

Gold and silver aren't going much of anywhere, for the longest time now. Still, I feel so very comfortable plowing every extra buck I can scare up into little "bits" of it. (pun intended)

Hey! I am investing in "bit" coins.

It's the hot thing right now with money flowing INTO it........ what happens when people start pulling money OUT of it?
Seems one should sell a portion to get back principal and maybe lock in some gains because anything going up this fast will go down even faster..... or you just look at it like a lotto ticket.

$3903 now. Another hundred bux up just this morning. Amazing.
...but wasn't it supposed to have crashed by now? Or the grid gone down, or at least a giant CME from the Sun that wipes out the grid? I'm sure one of those will be happening aaaany day now. lol

It's called a free market. Ie: little to no barriers to entry, let those with the best ideas and products that best serve the consumer, survive.

Heck, we could make a "GimCoin" if we wanted to.

You can. The new CaaS (coin as a service) paradigm is just getting started -- e.g.:

    https://www.cryptocoincreator.com/
    https://cryptonotestarter.org/

The only difficulty is getting enough people to participate and buy in. This would be the only thing distinguishing your bitcoin from "the" bitcoin, your ethereum from "the" ethereum, etc. The technology is otherwise exactly the same -- all that matters is people.

Don't worry about that huge "investor" ZeroHedge reported. I'm sure there's nothing suspicious or to worry about with a market manipulator with apparently bottomless pockets. I'm sure it isn't a bankster, that makes money pumping and crashing things.

Another all-time high.................Currently at $4224.83 (Coindesk.xom quote) as I write this post. Damn!!!! I ran out of popcorn. Does anyone have any popcorn? This is the greatest internet show on earth.

On a serious note, I regret getting out of my bitcoin investment at $1870 in May but I still feel pretty good about the profit that I made when I sold half of my Bitshares (BTS) investment when it was ~11,800 satoshi/BTS (it is currently at 3,857 satoshi/BTS).

Good luck to all of the speculators, but redeem your initial investment as soon as you can and play with the house's money.

It's a rotten scheme and a criminal enterprise. I've made good money selling the miners for a large profit, and then lost about 80% of it when I got scammed last week out of $8,000, of which I'll never see again. I'm feeling sour about bitcoin, and truly feel it's a fad, a craze, a tulip bulb mania. There is no fucking way in hell a few dollars worth of electricity and the use of some purpose built hardware is worth $4700. It's a joke.

Ethereum, Bitcoin Crash After China Declares Initial Coin Offerings Illegal

Ethereum and bitcoin are crashing this morning, after China confirmed its recent threat of an ICO crackdown (reported here last Monday) when the central bank said on Monday that initial coin offerings are illegal and disrupt financial markets, according to statement on China’s central bank website. The PBOC also asked all related fundraising activity to be halted immediately, issuing the strongest regulatory challenge so far to the burgeoning market for digital token sales.

The crackdown was announced in a statement on the PBOC's website in which the central bank said that it had completed investigations into ICOs, and will strictly punish offerings in the future while penalizing legal violations in ones already completed. The regulator said that organizations or individuals that completed initial coin offerings should return the money raised, in move "to protect investors’ rights and properly handle risks," though it didn’t specify how the money would be paid back to investors.

Taking the recent SEC crackdown on Initial Coin Offerings several steps further, the PBOC also said digital token financing and trading platforms are prohibited from doing conversions of coins with fiat currencies. Digital tokens can’t be used as currency on the market and banks are forbidden from offering services to initial coin offerings, and are also also banned from offering pricing and information services on coins. Most importantly was the PBOC's determination that "digital token can’t be used as currency on the market" and its warning that "China will strictly punish over sustained offerings and law violations in completed ones."

The central bank’s Monday directive made no mention of cryptocurrencies such as ether or bitcoin. Bitcoin tumbled over 8%, the most since July on a closing basis, to $4,480. Ethereum was down more than 11% Monday, to just above $310, after trading nearly $400 last week.

Bitcoin Crashes On Massive Volume As China Plans To Shut Local Exchanges

Having bounced back dramatically from the 20% plunge following China's ban of ICOs, Bitcoin is getting battered again this morning on very heavy volume as Caixin reports Chinese authorities plan to shut local Bitcoin exchanges.

The supervisory authority has decided to close the exchange of virtual currency in China , which involves all the currencies and currencies of the currency , such as "currency line", "coins" and "Bitcoin China."

Journalists confirmed the news from the person who came close to the Internet Financial Risk Special Rectification Working Group (hereinafter referred to as the Leading Group) and learned that the resolution had been deployed to the local level.

This is following the September 4 People's Bank of seven ministries and commissions joint announcement (hereinafter referred to as the announcement) after further supervision action. The announcement will mark ICO (Initial Coin Offering) as "illegal financial activities" and order the ICO to be banned on the date of publication of the announcement. All ICO tokens trading platforms need to be cleared to close the transaction.
