Why does CEF deviate from the real prices?

Today the net value of the assets held by CEF are $13.44 per share.
But it selling for only $12.34 per share.
    How can that be?

I like CEF (Central Fund of Canada). I have owned it a number of times in the past. The NAV (net asset value) does fluctuate with this closed end fund. When the NAV is in your favor is the right time buy, if you're so inclined. It's an alternative to physical ownership, and in my opinion far superior to ETF's since it actually owns the gold and silver. IMHO

Market inefficiencies and- I can't stress this enough- risk premium.

Ebie does since the question was asked. It's a valid question. And apparently you do too since you bothered to opine.
