Happy Birthday Stoney!...I will be smoking a bowl of my finest in your honor!...
That slab is like , yeah , I'll hold carpet and tile ok.
See the cement caked on those stub out pipes?
    That's a cracker no no.
Whoever was finishing that floor is supposed to wipe that chit off the pipes while it's still wet.
It won't really change anything. But it will look good.
Like Brother Andial's painting , it's the details that seperate it from being a job to being a professional craftsman who may sometimes look at his work as art.
    Enjoy the weekend Fella's!

I bought $200 dollars worth of cedar today for $300.............. Apparently Canadian cedar is getting hammered at the border due to some trade pact that just expired. Guy behind the counter said it happened overnight and some cedar products could go up as much as 70%.......

Andial , very professional work Amigo.
My older retired brother painted for 30 years and he said that's a fine job.
    But why so dark?
I told him vampires live in that house.
Only vampires would cover that beautiful wood floor with formaldehyde chemically saturated synthetics.
How does one bid a job like that? By the hour , so much a sq foot , or by the job?

Why so dark i know, lighter is easier but "the customer is always right" when it comes to color, not the finish Dubya. There are alot of large windows so not as depressing as one would think. Charged by the day but still left money on the table cause that is what i do (dumb).

These saved my knees more than once.
Normally one would not wear knee pads while framing an interior wall.
Bro Andial , do you wear steel toed shoes?
I never did. Hard hats and knee pads were ok.
But one must draw the line somewhere.

Redwings were my choice of workboots.
You go ahead and keep finding those screws and nails with your kness and pretty soon you won't even have to look anymore cause they will be inside your knee.

Used to have to kneel on concrete floors to work on furnaces and other equipment. Now days, if I have to kneel, I either hunt up my knee pads or a am very careful how and where I kneel. First thing is look down, then around to see if I do get down there if there is something I can grab a hold of to make sure I can get back up from down there. Sucks getting old.

Thin layers outside (low thermal mass), lotsa insulation then thermal mass inside. What ever you do it preforms best if you follow that rule. That is one rule of passive solar design, it is underrated... house design should be all about the using the sun to best effect.

I think the shakes would look fine, cut stone, more money, less on appearance. Why I say that is, cut stone, unless you remove and replace what is already there would look like an after thought, whereas, filling the gap with shakes would look like it was intended that way. JMO.

Had the day off yesterday as it rained a good bit here. Today was a complete mess on mud hill.
Crackers here's a pic of some modern working shoes. Nike running stuffs, they feel like they are not even there and stick on a roof like nothing else sir. Daughter buys me a pair a year.

    20170418_144337.jpg

We got her joisted and got the rafter plates on despite the mess. Should get the rafters cut and hung tomorrow. 20170418_133951.jpg

Dial, im with Lt. on the shake below the windows. Will look good.

Trouble is Hamster, I was never an actual Lt, enlisted man, common sense is more common in enlisted. I did make it to E5 in under 4, which is a bit on the uncommon side. And real name is not Dan, albeit, I still have both my original legs, although they don't work at all like they did when I was still in my 20's. I am, however, a bit on the crazy side.

For all the draft dodgers that is a real accomplishment. In the 10 yrs. I did, I made E5 a couple of times. Something about not being able to take orders from real Lt's. Didn't figger you be a real one, you make to much sense in your reply's.
Boy was I stupid to hang in there for 10 years. Prolly kept me from becoming a mass murderer though, and I got to see a lot of the world, and how to work hard and feel good about it.

    @stonedywankanobe
That cancer stick might have you carrying the oxy tank with ya in the long term. Heck I still light up 2 before bed even with the oxy tubes in me nose. Wife says I'm gonna blow up some day.
Hey we are all born to die, so what's the big deal? Try my darn'est to do what the good book says and will see what happens.
