Gets just a few degrees too hot for an hour and you got people screaming at you. Today we were tearing out an old unit making way for a new 60 Ton. Dropping it in place tomorrow. Didn't get to keep these. The building maintenance gets to keep everything. Coil was about 500 lbs.

Sir dial we keep the economy alive here by putting salvageable scrap along the roadside. Stuff doesn't stay there long, and saves a dump trip. Yeah I could scrap the stuff, but others have to eat also.
I had a old Home Depot lawn tractor that had a Kohler 16 hp motor and a shot trans axle, and deck. Put it out on the road and the next day the scrap guy left me a $50 in the mailbox. Gotta keep everyone going doncha ya know.

The really bad part is we are doing 15 of them in this building, but it keeps us in their good graces.

Thanks Stonedy, I freaking love it. Got in with one of the best shops out there. Got an old timer who knows more than just about anybody on the face of the earth teaching me. HVAC is a pretty sweet gig. Every building you walk into you are the hero.

Rippin hips. Well us four amigos were scaffold up and had all of the commons, jacks, hips and ridges cut and ready to hang by lunchtime today. Felt like a Mondee all day.
    20170419_122852.jpg

I was good with just callin it a day right here at lunch.
...Felt better after we ate a gas station burger, not sure if it was the food or the ol hard leg gal that worked there calling me sugar.

Either way, i was rejuvenated. May be getting old but we still get it up.

Should be in the dry tomorrow, got some robots coming to deck and felt for us.

davy, I liked hem's post but don't agree with it all the copper, brass, aluminum and stainless steel you come across must be defended, be strong this is a benefit for your family. How will your wife feel when the washer breaks down and you say " sorry dear we have no money for a new one I gave all my scrap away". Steel and Iron can be given unto others the rest is yours. All meant in good fun here. Can't wait for vocal and recorded posting. There is an add on for Chrome that already allows you to record voice/video a snipplet and send it email, would prolly work here with a link to it. It's called HYFY. Never tried it, guess it records on the cloud somewhere. It'd be fun, see'n all the folks here in their disguises answering posts.
Don't mind me, just woke up from a nap and feel like crap, have been all day. Some days there just ain't enough drugs to take the pain away. So I claim no responsibility for my actions today. Maybe I need one of those "dots" so's everyone would know what my mood and pain level is. Like the Dr. asks every time I see him. "What's your pain level today? I tell him 8 and he just nods. Like he gives a crap. Here's your script for some pills, pay your $75 and leave.
Apologies for wasting your time reading all this crap.

VA always asks me what my "PAIN" level is. I most always say, maybe a 2-3, wanna know what is when I move? Like ya said, they don't really give a crap, they just have to write something down. At least they don't charge $75 to tell me what I already know.

Finished up the little house Friday other than the windows which should be in next week. Dude paid cash and bought us a 30 pack, nice guy.

    20170421_172705.jpg

Started anothe gig today working at a water treatment facility that was built a few years back.

On top of the second floor office space is an exposed drop ceiling covered with r19 insulation.
Apparently the engineer overlooked the massive amount of humidity present starting about 20 feet off the floor. It's bad enough that some of their equipment has been damaged in the upstairs rooms.
We're gonna slap some shit up there and try to stop it. Will update

About mid morning here hanging out getting scaffolds up on a double level 70' or so run.
Note the exposed insulation just a 3' or so above the main sewage tank on the left, lots of big nasty duce floating in there, surprisingly zero stench.

    20170424_132647.jpg

Another look at the walk board action. The lower level sits on ladder jacks, the upper right on top of the galvo beams up high. We used a spare 20'er as a ramp. Finished it with an osha approved ratchet strap rail (not pictured) to keep me out of the duce tank

Pic from my hang out up top. Was shucking 2x10x16'ers from here over to the office structure most of the day. Anti dooky strap installed in this photo, man the shit we get in to...

    20170424_125344.jpg
Engineering dept said operation sit that stuff on top was a go and we proceeded. Got the entire run in and outside band on. Tomorrow we crawl and run the back side band. Got some hooks coming to re route the drop ceiling wires to the bottom side of our wood structure allowing us it put a vapor barrier and insulation as well as decking on top with no wires to fight with.
Side walls will be metal stud action with vapo wrap as well.

hell that looks like a job for laminated foam panels with frp on each side.....thick enough to span what ever your spanning.....used to use that a lot in high moisture food plants ....built whole offices out of it inside plants...had these guys (when they were just starting) laminate anything we needed ...http://www.epsbuildings.com/

i hope that engineer took into account the roof load your adding...im betting that engineer is retireing in a few years LOL....

BTW...looks like your doing a hell of a great job in a pain in the ass situation putting in stuff that will last 5-7yrs ....it will start growing crap in 2 yrs ...temporary bandaid for sure....pretty intresting roof trusses there for sure

Yea Mr T. definitely an afterthought happening here. We didn't ask a whole lot of questions as we hired on with another outfit who have waited 2 weeks for us to show up. We're just executing the the plan they had worked out.

Not arguing because the pay is quite ridiculous on this project. If we come back in 5 to 7 it won't hurt my feelings too bad.

So much of what's up there in the way of clamps and connection points for hvac and gas heater hanging brackets looks temporary at best, as none of it is galvo and is pitting rust 3 years later. Will get a picture today of some of it.

Does the house also have copper rain guttering?
Is there really any advantage to copper guttering?

I probably installed miles of copper, back when they still made pennies with it. Then along came plastic. With that also, ya couldn't get real oakum to caulk cast iron hubs with anymore either. Stuff was made with hemp. :weed:

understand exactly the position your in gotta do it like they say .....fwiw if you have a choice and a chance in that type of facility we would never accept drilled holes into the galv or even painted steel to hang things we allways required clamp hangers
