The time has come.

It's been a great ride, I will miss most of you and our thought-provoking discussions. A few of you I will be glad to never see your screen handle again.

I sincerely appreciate all 17,400 thank yous you have given me and the hundreds of PMs I have received over the years. I now count many of you as friends, not just posting buddies.

Departure has been on mind for a long time, to allow me to concentrate on a new web site that I am creating focusing on 1984 and George Orwell. It's nowhere ready for prime time right now, but you'll get the idea of what it is about and what it will look like. Drop by and say hi. http://1984-2.com/

Hang in there everybody, and never forget: Gold is Money! (So is silver.)

Phideaux,

Best of wishes on your new venture. We all are living our own life...struggling to find meaning and contentment...

I hope you find all you are looking for...and wishing to share...

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

May you live as long as you want,
And never want as long as you live.

Always remember to forget
The things that made you sad.
But never forget to remember
The things that made you glad.

Always remember to forget
The friends that proved untrue.
But never forget to remember
Those that have stuck by you.

Always remember to forget
The troubles that passed away.
But never forget to remember
The blessings that come each day.

May the saddest day of your future be no worse
Than the happiest day of your past.

May the roof above us never fall in.
And may the friends gathered below it never fall out.

May you have warm words on a cold evening,
A full moon on a dark night,
And the road downhill all the way to your door.

May there be a generation of children
On the children of your children.

May you live to be a hundred years,
With one extra year to repent!

May the Lord keep you in His hand
And never close His fist too tight.

May your neighbors respect you,
Trouble neglect you,
The angels protect you,
And heaven accept you.

May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light,
May good luck pursue you each morning and night.

Walls for the wind,
And a roof for the rain,
And drinks beside the fire -
Laughter to cheer you
And those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire!

May God be with you and bless you,
May you see your children's children,
May you be poor in misfortune, rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.

May God grant you many years to live,
For sure He must be knowing
The earth has angels all too few
And heaven is overflowing.

May peace and plenty be the first
To lift the latch to your door,
And happiness be guided to your home
By the candle of Christmas.

May you always have work for your hands to do.
May your pockets hold always a coin or two.
May the sun shine bright on your windowpane.
May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

Very sorry to see you go. I've greatly enjoyed your posts and appreciated your insights. Best of luck to you and hope this is just a bit of a time out. In the meantime, I may have to finally check out 1984; I've never actually read it :)

Please say it ain't so, Phideaux. ;)
At least drop in once a week or month or so to say hi or post something you might think we really need to see.
Enjoyed your presence here.
God bless your endeavors.

If you really feel that you need to take your ball and go home, then I wish you the best. Enjoyed your posts but it seems kind of childish to me, as far as timing of the announcement goes.

Take off "hoser", you can't be serious.

Just remember, all beer under 6% is "for children and the elderly."

Yo, phideaux!

Oh, man, hate to see you go. Your common sense, principled approach to issues is rare and I'll miss it. Hope to see you back and will definitely check out your site. Wish you all the best, you're a class act.

Dude, sleep on it. You will be spending all your time lurking and chomping at the bit. You're such a fixture here and everybody likes you, as evidenced by your 17,400 thanks. Most of us are inconsequential to the overall forum (at least myself), but you add valuable content with all the stuff you find and post.

Phideaux, your posts have added tremendous value to these forums over the years. While you obviously feel the need to reallocate your time to other things, I hope you will stick around, even if it's on an irregular basis.

Thanks for your contributions.

I too, wish you would reconsider and stay. But I'm sure you made your decision after careful consideration. You don't seem the type to take an abrupt action without examining all angles. Only you know what is best for you. I wish you the best in your endeavors and hope that you'll stop by from time to time.

Good Luck, Phideaux.

You're probably already gone, but here have another "thanks" on me. Now it's 17,462.
