More information on the 2017 American Liberty 225th Anniversary medals from Coinworld:

United States Mint Announcement: 2017-W American Liberty Silver Medal Set for June 14 Release

United States Mint Annoucement: 2017-W American Liberty Silver Medal Set for June 14 Release

By CoinWeek News Staff ....

The United States Mint just added a handful of items to its online product schedule, and perhaps the biggest news is that at least one of the five 2017 American Liberty 225th Anniversary high-relief silver medals will be released on June 14. However, the only significant detail about the medal currently shared on the product page is that it will be struck at West Point. The 2017-W American Liberty silver medal will have a laser-frosted Enhanced Uncirculated finish and is part of a planned four-medal set celebrating 225 years since production began at the Mint's Philadelphia facility.

CoinWeek will keep you posted as more information about this or any of the new products below is available.

The other medals in the set include a regular Uncirculated medal from Denver, a Proof medal from San Francisco, and a Reverse Proof from Philadelphia. A silver Proof medal from Philadelphia also will be available separately. All five medals feature the same design as the 2017 American Liberty High-Relief Gold Coin, which features an African-American Lady Liberty on the obverse and a flying eagle on the reverse.

The gold coin has been somewhat controversial since well before its release on April 6. As of May 7, it has sold only 19,304 units out of a maximum allotted mintage of 100,000.

No mintage or household order limits are established for the West Point medal at this time.

The 4-coin set will be added to the collection along side its older sibling.
With a cheaper price tag, I will assume that both the single coin and set will have a higher mintage sell.

There is now a picture of the 2017-W American Liberty 225th Anniversary Silver Medal on the USMint order page in the link in my OP but there appears to be an error on the picture. The 1st medal to be released on June 14, 2017 is supposed to be minted by the West Point facility but the picture of the medal on the USMint.gov order page shows the reverse side of the medal with a "P" mark ("P" = Philadelphia mint mark). Just an observation.

Item Number: 17XB
Mintage Limit: None
Product Limit: None
Household Order Limit: None
I also noticed that the USMint.gov order page now reflects that the Philadelphia location will mint the 1st silver medal instead of the West Point location which also matches the picture of the 2017-P American Liberty silver medal. I suspect that the initial information was just a mistake on their part. As for the mintage limit...........very interesting. Unless they are going to update the maximum mintage number later on, then this means unlimited mintage or maybe"minted to demand" so no "sell out" if there is no mintage limit. If I am wrong on this, then feel free to correct me.

Like the 2017 American Liberty gold version picture, I think that the picture of the silver version does not do it any justice IMO. I think that it will look better in hand than what the picture shows. JMHO.

As it stands right now you are correct...they will be minted until no one wants them any more...

Usually the Mint is firm with mintage limits as announced though. It's just the HH limits that change at the last minute but no reason for HH limits right now

Dampened my interest for sure....

Now we shouldn't see any artificially pumped up secondary market because of perceived shortage. The only reason to get one is if you actually want one...pretty radical.

I knew that it was not going to be cheap given the greed of the USMint. At that $59.95 price point, I plan to buy one and only one for the same reason that I bought the gold version.....................I actually like the coin. I also plan to buy the 4-silver medal set that is supposed to come out later this year. The goal is to complete the set of 2017 American Liberty 225th Anniversary set (1 gold + 5 total silver medals).

...and a bargain at $59.95.....:thumbs down:
$59.95 price + Unlimited mintage = Any one that wants one can buy one without it being gone in 60 seconds.

The USMint "pendulum" swings wide between the 2015 American Liberty medals and the 2017 American Liberty medals. It swung from $34.95(???) + 12,000 mintage sellout for the 2015 version to $59.95 + unlimted mintage for the 2017 version.

I think I'll hold off, and try to get a slabbed coin for close to the issue price. It seems alot of sellers are finally including the OGP with slabbed coins. However, for some reason the ATB's are a different story.

Basically with unlimited mintage, everyone that wants one should be able to get one without fear of a lightning quick sellout. While that is good for collectors that really want one because they like it, it will not have any future premium appreciation and, like savvydon said, there will be no flipping going on with this silver medal. The only people making a profit on this coin will be the USMint. I will also go out on a limb by saying right now that this 2017 American Liberty 225th Anniversary silver medal that will be released on June 14, 2017 will still be available 2 years from now until at least June 2019 when the next American Liberty silver medal will be released. There is no rush to get this one IMO.

I cannot speak for the 4-medal set that is supposed to be released later this year. I do not know how the USMint will go about selling this one.

I don't know. There's alot of crazy assed collector/investors out there. Slabbed coins that are first release, first day of issue, mercanti label, etc etc, seem to work with these people. I bought a 10 ounce Great Britain Queen's Beast coin from Apmex, which is still available right now for just under 200 bucks. Well, Bullion Exchanges is selling a NGC slabbed version, MS70 First Day of Issue for $800.00, four times what I paid, and somebody bought two of them a couple days ago! Ouch!

I don't know. With all the crap that's gone on with the ATB mintages, not sure I would believe anything the Mint says, or prints at this point. They say unlimited mintage for this coin, do we believe them suddenly? It'll be interesting to see what happens here.

I just can't - whoever mentioned that the lady looks like Moochelle 0bama poisoned this coin for me. Just can't pull the trigger.

In my state that's well over a thousand cans....
Love the scam they got here in Ca. You pay 5 cents per can when you buy at the store, then when you go through the hassle of storing them all in your garage or whatever, haul them down to the redemption center, they weigh them, and you get about 4 cents back per can! Gotta take them to a scrap yard to make it worth your while monetarily, then you get nails in your tires doing that! LOL

Placed order just about 72 hours ago. Got a tracking number The following afternoon (Thursday) tracking number has yet to update to where the package has actually been picked up. Not worried about getting it, but this is the longest I've seen it take yet from the Mint. Apparently they do the Fedex ground to your local post office, then your regular carrier delivers it. Slow motion.

Yeah that is the same situation with me. Very slow. I guess that is the kind of speed that you get with $4.95 "budget shipping".

I guess that the fat cat USMint employees are too busy swimming in all of that cash from that fat premium that they are charging on the 2017 American Liberty silver medal to care about speeding up the processing of the orders from us "little folks".

Okay SA, what's your guess on sales for the first week, for the Silver Medal? I'm going with 36,773. Probably being way too generous, but we'll see tomorrow, huh? My tracking number that was issued last Thursday, has yet to update past "shipping label created". I'm hoping it's just an input error of the tracking status, but I'm sure it isn't.

I like to consider myself as an optimistic person but I am getting close to my limits on my optimism on this medal by going out on a limb here by saying that I think that sales for the 1st week for the 2017 silver medal will be 47,331. Given the fact that 26,833 were sold on the 1st day took me by surprise.

I checked my tracking number yesterday and it is still stuck on "shipping label created" status. SLOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!!!! I might check it later today but I do not expect any change in shipping status.

Same here on the label, just checked a few minutes ago. I'll call them today. 6 days so far is ridiculous.

What a fvcking waste of time that was. If you haven't received it by 14 days, fill out this form and fax it back to us. Would you like me to re-order this item for you? Huh? I think Maxine Watters took my customer service call.

On June 15, 2017, I got an email saying that mu order was shipped. Now fast forward to June 20, 2017, my tracking number goes from "shipping label created" to "in transit". YESS!!!!! Progress is being made. The Fed Ex fat cats must have finally decided to ship my medal. I wanted to pull the "You know who I am " card, but I do not have any clout. I am just a "little guy". Bummer..................

It also look like I will have to wait until tomorrow to see what the 1st week sales of the 2017 American Liberty Silver medal is. The USMint fat cats apparently want to keep us "little guys" in suspense. LOL!!!!
