Ex-Joe Biden Aide Trashes 2020 Preparations: ‘Never Seen Anything So Half-Assed’. 19 Apr 2019
Former Vice President Joe Biden is reportedly expected to jump into the 2020 Democrat presidential primary next week ― but some in the Democrat elder’s orbit are worrying that his campaign-in-waiting is already in disarray.
“I’ve never seen anything so half-assed,” one unnamed former Biden aide told TIME. “They’re improvising and doing last-minute planning. The guy has been running for President since 1987 and can’t figure the basics out, like where to stand on his first day? This should make everyone very nervous.”
“The guy’s best day is the day he announces,” another source, described as a Biden “insider,” told the magazine. “Everything after that gets worse.”
Second in dough to Bernie. I'm not saying he's quitting, but after he released his tax returns and showed $1066 in charity (probably off loading old furniture to Goodwill so he didn't have to pay dump fees, lol), it showed a different side - wants free everything for illegals that we have to pay for, but he keeps his. And says his charity is giving himself to us. What an id.
Pete Buttigieg compares Bernie Sanders supporters to Trump fans
Mayor Pete Buttigieg took a dig at fellow 2020 candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders' supporters, drawing parallels between them and fans of President Trump during a campaign stop in New Hampshire.
"I think the sense of anger and disaffection that comes from seeing that the numbers are fine, like unemployment's low, like all that, like you said GDP is growing and yet a lot of neighborhoods and families are living like this recovery never even happened. They're stuck," Buttigieg told high school Democrats in Nashua, N.H., on Friday. "It just kind of turns you against the system in general and then you're more likely to want to vote to blow up the system, which could lead you to somebody like Bernie and it could lead you to somebody like Trump. That's how we got where we are."
Buttigieg, the 37-year-old mayor of South Bend, Ind., showered Sanders with praise in 2000 with a piece that won the then-18-year-old the John F. Kennedy Presidential Museum and Library's Profile in Courage Essay Contest award. But now he said it was "strange" to be contesting the Democratic Party's 2020 nomination against the Vermont senator, who is 77 years old.
"Part of running for president is you wind up competing with people that you like or appreciated or admired many years back," he said. "I don't have the same views on everything that he does."
Buttigieg has about 6% support compared to Sanders' 22.5%, according to RealClearPolitics' average of polls less than a year before the Iowa caucuses.
Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., has endorsed 19 veterans to who are running for Congress for the first time in 2018. (Bill Clark/CQ Roll Call)
Rep. Seth Moulton, a Massachusetts congressman known for prioritizing veterans issues and for an unsuccessful push to unseat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, declared his bid for the White House on Monday.
In announcing his candidacy, Moulton becomes the 19th Democrat in the race.
In a campaign video, Moulton, 40, touted his experience as a Marine Corps veteran who served three tours in Iraq as an infantry officer before becoming an aide to Gen. David Petraeus, then the top U.S. commander in Iraq, during the troop surge in 2007.
Moulton has since been critical of the Iraq War and of U.S. involvement in the Middle East under President Donald Trump.
“I realized a lot of Americans are feeling betrayed by Washington, the same way we did in Iraq,” Moulton said in the video. “Ask anyone who’s lost their job to a changing economy or a child to opioids or has to choose between heat and food in the winter, they're feeling forgotten.”
A member of the House Armed Services Committee, Moulton will run his campaign "through VFW halls" with a focus on national security issues, the 6th District Democrat told The Atlantic.
Moulton criticized Trump's foreign policy as “erratic” and called for strengthening NATO and retiring outdated, expensive weapons systems on hiscampaign website.
Moulton has tapped Scott Eshom, a former Green Beret with the Army’s 5th Special Forces Group, as an organizer on veterans issues, and David Vorland, a former adviser in the Defense Department under President Barack Obama, as a foreign policy adviser, CNN reported.

Moulton is also best known for an unsuccessful crusade to block Nancy Pelosifrom the Speaker’s gavel after the party won control of the chamber in 2018.
The congressman said that the party needed “a new generation of leadership,” but he eventually backed her after facing backlash from progressive groups and from his own constituents.
Moulton established the Serve America political action committee to recruit more veterans to serve in Congress. Moulton will lean on that political infrastructure to staff his campaign, CNN reported.
He has co-sponsored legislation intended to improve veterans’ health care and spoke with the Boston Globe about personal experiences with the Veterans Affairs health care system when he was prescribed the wrong medicine and a veterans’ hospital lost his medical records after he was elected to Congress.
“It’s hard to leave her every time I go to Washington for a few days. But I also feel even more invested in her future than maybe I did ever before in this job,” Moulton said in an interview with CNN. “Because I don’t want her growing up in this country the way that it is.”
Moulton spelled out his domestic policy platform on his campaign website:
He endorses the Green New Deal, the sprawling plan to transform the economy away from fossil fuels championed by New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. But Moulton tacks to the center on health care, calling for a public option insurance plan in lieu of a “Medicare for All” single payer model.
Moulton, won his first term in Congress in 2014 by unseating nine-term Rep. John F. Tierney in a primary and ran unopposed in 2016. He won his last election in 2018 with 65 percent of the vote.
Moulton initially considered running as an independent in 2012 against Tierney but instead announced the following year that he would run as a Democrat in 2014. He beat Tierney in the primary by 10 points and went on to defeat Republican Richard Tisei.
they are doing everything possible to either hate him or work with him, whatever the voter in front of them wants to hear
They've lost all credibility , at this point, with who's running, Dimwit supporters are likely no shows or will even vote for trump. They couldn't have done worse, they've made the choice nearly as bad as they did with hitlery and the burn.
I'm expecting people to completely tune the whole thing out. I'm not even sure why an election would be needed.
Former Texas Rep. and current presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke had a small crowd for a campaign event at the University of Nevada Las Vegas on Friday.
“Around 35 people here to see Beto O’Rourke at UNLV,” Emma Kinery, a Bloomberg reporter tweeted. “The rally was supposed to be held in the courtyard outside, but students told me no one is on campus on Fridays bc it’s mainly a commuter school.”
Nolte: Frail Joe Biden Slurs Through First Speech as 2020 Candidate
Age is not a factor in presidential politics. Vitality is. Virility is. If you still got it, you could win the presidency in your 80s. The problem for Biden is not the number 76, it is that he is no longer the Joe Biden we remember — who was never all that impressive, who was never a good presidential candidate, but he was not this guy — was not an old man past his prime looking to hold on when he needs to get out of the way.
I have a very simple philosophy about presidential elections, at least in the television age that began with John F. Kennedy in 1960…
The alpha male always wins.
An economic crash could end that streak, but if you look back you will see that this is how it has always shaken out.
You can laugh all you want at Barry Obama’s mom jeans and purple bike helmets, but as a candidate he was No Drama Obama; Calm, Cool Obama; Steady, Ready Obama — the guy who kept his opponents on constant defense, who ran against a neurotic (John McCain) who quit his campaign to save the economy and a weakling (Mitt Romney) who allowed CNN’s Candy Crowley make a public ass out of him.
Joe Biden mocks China threat – ‘They’re not bad folks’
Former Vice President and 2020 Democratic candidate Joe Biden downplayed China in a speech this week and declared that the communist nation isn’t a significant threat.
In a campaign trail speech delivered in Iowa City, Iowa, on Wednesday, Biden appeared to mock experts who have declared China as a top threat to the U.S., calling China “not bad folks” and “not competition for us.”
Watch his remarks in the video below:
“China is going to eat our lunch? Come on, man — They can’t even figure out how to deal with the fact that they have this great division between the China Sea and the mountains in the West. They can’t figure out how they’re going to deal with the corruption that exists within the system. They’re not bad folks, folks … They’re not competition for us,” he said.
Biden’s spokesperson, Andrew Bates, defended Biden’s comments, saying they weren’t dismissive of China.
“As he has many times, Vice President Biden underscored that, whatever challenges we face as a nation, including those posed by a rising China, they pale in comparison to the structural and social challenges that confront China itself,” Bates told CNN in a statement. “Joe Biden believes it’s never a good bet to bet against America and the fundamental strength, resilience and ingenuity of its people.”
Biden’s remarks have already gained backlash.
Sen. Mitt Romney retweeted a transcript of Biden’s comments with the caption, “This will not age well.”

Rep. Bradley Byrne also spoke out again Biden’s comments, tweeting, “I was just at a manufacturing plant that is being threatened by China’s corrupt trade practices. Not to mention the national security threats they pose. Joe is plain wrong. China is absolutely a threat.”

Cory Booker said he backs legislation that would get Americans “thrown in jail” for owning "assault weapons" if they do not hand them over in a buyback program in which they would be sold to the government.
