Because AOC cares sooooo much. She could keep real busy going all over the world helping people.

That was just a political stunt just like 99% of what our representatives do.
Sooo stunt or not, your way more impressed with Ted's abandonment of his people.

Well, since ted isn't an electrician or plumber or owns an F150, I don't think there's anything he could have done.
Hope he had a nice trip.

Crocodile tears. Politicians shed them for their false empathy for the little people.

During a flood, I would like to see those politicians out throwing sandbags. Prove they actually have empathy.

President Trump and Melania showed up and passed out supplies. Media mocked them but that's not a surprise.

Politicians are more worried about their buddies, getting all that FEMA cash, to rebuild. FEMA projects where I live, cost three times more, than what a non-FEMA rebuilding project costs.

Cascend: Data Shows Wind-Power Was Chief Culprit Of Texas Grid Collapse

  • Wind failed as “Ice storms knocked out nearly half the wind-power generating capacity of Texas on Sunday as a massive deep freeze across the state locked up wind turbine generators, creating an electricity generation crisis."
  • Natural gas made up the difference for a while
  • But then everything else followed down

  • Coal and nuclear both underperformed, but not by much, due to non-winterized equipment
  • Solar underperformed for a few days but is back, although is far too intermittent to help without storage except during heat waves
  • And Texas’ grid couldn’t buy enough power from neighbors to make up the difference
  • Nor are power producers required to keep a reserve of power
The simple 5-step solution according to Cascend:
  • Winterize equipment
  • Require power reserve
  • Connect the Texas grid better
  • Add solar with storage (storage is key)
  • And add more natural gas
As some others have summarized the Texas disaster best...
It is sad and ironic that in a state known for its huge petroleum and natural gas resources, the lack of reliability of wind power has brought the state to its knees in a time of crisis, not unlike that which California experienced in 2020 during record heat where wind and solar power could not keep up with demand and was near collapse.
The folly of chasing renewable energy as a means of mitigating “climate change” is making itself abundantly clear today in Texas. When will politicians wake up and realize that renewable energy almost always equates to unreliable energy?

i believe this is one of many examples where they are having their cake and eating it too

they're attacking themselves

beyond us white sheep, they have no unified 'enemy', except for the climate and it's not cooperating right now...

this is what mental illness looks like

This thread make a convincing case it’s Biden’s DOE fault. The head of the DOE has no power gen experience (he came from nuclear waste industry)

The case
1) fossil fuel power generation is limited by law to about 2/3 of capacity production in the name of pollution prevention
2) gov Abbott was alerted the grid was in trouble
3) Gov Abbott asked DOE for a waiver to increase production
4) Xiden admin said NO, well you can increase a little if you gouge the price >100 fold
5) Abott didn’t buck this (he should have just done a Governor executive order and saved his state)

Fail Fail and more Fail

Agree. Abbott should have told the feds to step TF off. They don't give a damn how many people die in Texas...even if the governor does.

You must think representatives are gods.
Not at all.

They're normal people with normal desires. If one of them has the wherwithal to vacation abroad...why would I expect them not to?

The LAST thing I want, is for government officials to "Care" about me.

That is a prerequisite for them getting their claws in my business.

I'm not even rich...but I've taken vacations when others had to work, fer chrissakes. What the hell is wrong with it? If they'd STAY away, and leave honest Americans alone, we'd all be better.

I just suspect this is being fed, either directly or through proxies, from some RINO front. Now that Trump is disposed of, it's time to destroy the other risky personas...so that we can get a REAL loser President in, like JEB! Shrub!

Candidates committed to American principles, need not apply.

Last week Texas experienced a cold snap that resulted in serious statewide damage, death, and destruction. The collapse of the state’s energy grid left millions of Texans in the dark and freezing for days at a time. Tragically, at least 30 people died.

There are many reasons why Texas became like a Third World country, and we should be careful not to pin all the blame on just one factor. But it seems clear that the disaster was to a large degree caused by political decisions to shift toward “green” energy generated from solar and wind and by Governor Abbott’s authoritarian Covid restrictions.

Abbott, who won a “wind leadership” award just this month, oversaw the near-collapse of wind energy generation last week. Yet the politicization of energy generation in favor of “green” alternatives over natural gas and other fossil fuels has led to the unintended consequences of freezing Texans facing multiple millions of dollars in property damage and worse.

rick perry played a big role too - he, partnering with goldman, 'deregulated' the market into some kind of public private disgrace

Amazing that gumbymint goons can, with a straight face, DEMAND that we all surrender our rights due to their made up plandemic...because even ONE death is ONE too many! ...then they turn right around and recklessly cause the death of dozens with their misguided idiotic carbon tax scams.

"Oh well, some collateral damage is necessary if we're going to save the world from cow farts!" Un-freaking real.

more than a dozen and most in Texas, what, 9?

Of the around 70 deaths attributed to the snow, ice and frigid temperatures nationwide, more than a dozen were people who perished in homes that had lost their heat, and most of those were in Texas.

Why should the help be statewide if the power outages were regional?, Only people who actually lost power should get help. In Florida you will see people claiming help and bragging about ripping off the system after hurricanes.

that's gonna be US, mostly because we use to much...

on things like staying warm, eating, things like that

we're just too demanding and we use too much
