Only took 8 months for them to make up this lie.... I mean marketing program....

A Better Deal? Yes, Pelosi and the Democrats are on the right track

U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi during an editorial board interview at The Denver Post on Aug. 30, 2017.

Democrats have a clear vision for how they’d lead the country if in power, and the Republican president has been in office for less than eight months.

A Better Deal — the Democrats’ new economic development and job creation manifesto — was presented to us Wednesday by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in a meeting at The Denver Post. It was developed with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

The platform is a sharp contrast to Republicans’ plan to jump start our slow-growing economy with individual and corporate tax cuts.

Pelosi, a brilliant politician who has held command of Democrats in the House for 14 years and has historically produced unity in votes that the GOP must envy, makes a compelling argument for her plan.

But it’s important to note neither approach to job creation has a proven track record: tax cuts don’t always stimulate hiring; and subsidies for employers can be astronomically expensive per job and short lived.

Both will be an experiment.

Both have their merits.

The details of A Better Deal are hazy, but the crux appears to be tax credits for employers who engage in job training and create new long-lasting positions. Pelosi said it would amount to hundreds of millions of dollars to encourage businesses to invest in people the way the current tax code encourages businesses to invest in capital projects.

Other portions of the plan call for building public and private partnerships that create apprenticeship, career and technical programs in community colleges and public schools.

“There’s about 6 million jobs in the country that cannot be filled. Half of them could be filled by people without a college degree. The void that we see is one that is corrected by the tax credits we are talking about for training, and the additional investments in education,” Pelosi said. “Nothing brings more money to the treasury than investing in education.”

Democrats seem to be on the cusp of making promises that could excite those who have felt unmotivated to vote by a liberal agenda focused on other priorities. President Donald Trump has given Democrats a chance to turn the tide.

Pelosi is saying the right things at the moment to sound bipartisan, indicating she could get on board with Republican-proposed tax cuts under the right circumstances.

“We’ve always said we’re willing to lower the corporate tax rate, but you can’t take it down to a place where you don’t come close to having enough revenue,” Pelosi said. “What we’ve said is we want to work with you on this. Let’s do this in a bipartisan way — let’s do it in a way that is revenue neutral. You cannot increase the deficit with your tax cut.”

That’s a very reasonable position and we hope Republicans’ tax plan includes modest reductions in personal and corporate taxes that are paid for in large part by the elimination of loopholes, deductions, credits and other tax expenditures. Not to be hypocritical, we’d also hope that the Democrats’ Better Deal wouldn’t add to the deficit.

Pelosi also condemned in strong words those in her party who aren’t handling Trump’s off-color presidency with grace, showing her willingness to call out despicable behavior.

Pelosi said members of the anti-fascist movement — known as Antifa — are not Democrats, but are largely socialists and Marxists, and that their violence at rallies in California was unacceptable.

Democrats must take the high ground as they respond to Trump, stick to the facts and not fall into the minority-party trap of all criticism and no plan. A Better Deal is a step in that direction.

Just two mentions:

So, employers, some who basically already pay nothing in Fed taxes, get another Fed tax break if they hire employees?
O.K. which way is that tax responsibility going to be shifted? Onto our backs?

Nancy figures that will free up some business capital
What she doesn't mention is that business capital will end up being spent on employee taxes at the State level
sneaky politicians, they'll tell us a partial truth

and

They want to spend money on vocational training at local community colleges
Again, that's a State level thing, now the Fed will be ingrained in our States community colleges -
probably already are

Last I knew, vocational training was removed from all public schools unless private sponsorship was available
The duties of vocational training fell exclusively upon private companies and community colleges
Note that: All the money the public schools "saved" by eliminating all these classes is already long gone, spent forward into oblivion at the suggestions from the Federal Government, local unions, and so, it seems, that wasn't enough,
now the community colleges need to be refocused

Seriously, when I was growing up, my local community college was free, books were extra
then came the parking charge, then the class fee's, lab fee's, library fee's, etc

but I digress;
let me get this straight:
They're going to give us back, from the Federal Government, what the State, through the coercion of the federal government, once took away?

They can't stop spending our money and continue to demand more from us!
They've run nothing but a ponzi scheme on US, on us all and now I'm going to believe anything this bitch has to say?

No Deal!

They could have merged Clinton's message with FDR's and come up with I'm With a Better Deal. Either way it sounds like they are trying to sell a junker used car as a cream puff.

I don't know who they are aiming for, but it certainly isn't me. All of the protesting, violence and ranting criticism of Trump needs to stop before I will even open my ears to them again.

I am offended by the newspaper using that term I highlighted in bold. Clinton would be an excellent and correct use of that term, Trump in no way. He is not screwing interns in the oval office or banging everything in sight like JFK for example [at least, as far as we know].

I am starting to think Trump is more like Andrew Jackson, a man of the people. Rude & crude, without filter. Of course Trump "is no Jackson" as far as killing the bank or military experience, but he is the closest we have had in my lifetime. Although I would like to have a person more like Bannon, I understand reality and it really is a miracle we got somebody like Trump elected in this day and age. H. Clinton would have been a disaster for this nation; she would have been the final nail in the coffin. Therefore, I think Trump was the best solution that presented itself, warts and all.

As for jobs programs and tax credits for hiring, well, the democrats have been doing that for decades, every new program started is still here, and IMHO they were all failures. I never met to this day a working person who was a product of those programs. All they seem to produce is staff that are democrat vote getters, and clients that owe the democrats for the free money. I have seen groups of these people in these programs flying to some "conference" or something on the taxpayer dime, none of them acted like or looked like anybody I would even hire to mow my lawn.

So really we have the corrupt and senile Pelosi, rich off of her connections while in office for decades, promising more of the same BS the democrats have been peddling since the 1960s. The only thing I read that I agree with is getting rid of deductions and tax write offs, loopholes etc. I agree with that 100%, but I think the EIC and other pay outs need to go as well. There should be no such thing as a non-profit, all corporations in all fields should pay taxes at exactly the same rate. Churches should pay property taxes, all employees pay income tax, and any profits taxed just like any other business.

All FedGov financing of radio and tv broadcasting should end now, all FedGov involvement in paying for housing should end right now, across the board. If they can't house everybody, why are they housing SOME?

Pelosi is the Public Enemy Number One concerning Obamacare, it actually should be called PelosiCare as she rammed it through. That program is well on its way to destroy the middle class in America. This is a fact.

That's my opinion of the fluff piece in the OP.

Trump Sides With Democrats In Deal On Storm Relief And Fiscal Deadlines

Democratic congressional leaders announced Wednesday that they had reached a deal with President Trump in an Oval Office meeting to pass hurricane relief funding this week, along with measures to push off pressing fiscal deadlines to December — over the apparent objections of Republican leaders.

"In the meeting, the President and Congressional leadership agreed to pass aid for Harvey, an extension of the debt limit, and a continuing resolution both to December 15, all together," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said in a joint statement. "Both sides have every intention of avoiding default in December and look forward to working together on the many issues before us."

And rub their worthless RINO traitor faces in it. This is a MASSIVE, humiliating loss of face for the crowd who couldn't quite repeal husseincare after saying they were gonna do it for 8 years. Trump does not forget and he will patiently wait for the best time to kick his enemies straight in the balls.

Now pelosi and schumer can brag about and campaign on how they helped the people devastated by hurricane harvey. The RINO's get nothing.

Senate doubles Trump's request for hurricane spending passing $15 BILLION disaster aid package that also raises the debt limit and funds the government for three more months
  • The Senate on Thursday overwhelmingly backed a $15.3 billion aid package for victims of Harvey, nearly doubling President Donald Trump's request
  • Legislation added a deal between Trump and Democrats to increase America's borrowing authority and fund the government into December
  • The 80-17 vote sends the package to the House for a vote on Friday
  • Conservatives from Trump's own party are balking at the deal, though

What is the difference with a debt ceiling or not? If you cannot pay you walk away without paying. My debt ceiling starts with a head shot and work your way down. Kinda like starting at the top and working your way down. i call it Trickle down Economics.

What did you expect? The communist backed media, funded and supported by the jewish central bankers want Trump dead, or at least out of office. They'll bring him down at every opportunity. No previous POTUS has ever had to deal with this much treachery and treason.

Glad we didn't put a JAP (just another politician) into the Oval this time around. The US is current in a state of civil war. All that's left now is the spark that get the shooting started! It will be interesting to see how Trump handles it.

I couldn't care less about the national debt. It has zero effect on my life and my finances. It has no effect because I'm not trapped in the system. Yeah, I have a foot in the system but I also have the other foot out and ready to bail at a moment's notice.

Soak the rich for tax reform! Now Trump says the wealthy 'will not be gaining' under tax plan as he meets with bipartisan lawmakers – and says 'If they have to go higher they’ll go higher, frankly'
  • President Donald Trump spoke at a bipartisan meeting with lawmakers Wednesday
  • He repeated his desire to slash corporate tax rates to 15 per cent
  • He said the rich 'will not be gaining at all with this plan'
  • Trump said the focus was on the middle class and jobs
  • Trump dines with Senate Democratic leader Charles Schumer and House minority leader Nancy Pelosi tonight
