Eaten Alive in Guna Yala (San Blas) - Ep. 83 RAN Sailing
RAN Sailing

Published on Jan 13, 2018
Guna Yala in Panama is a complete different world and we're so happy to be able to experience it with RAN. After doing the whole clearance procedure in Puerto Obaldía we head to our first anchorage next to a Guna village in the remote Darien Gap. The people are shy yet curious and very friendly. The anchorage is one of a kind with it's almost closed bay and it's so pretty until we start to get eaten alive!

We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us.

Squall Sailing and pirate scare Solomon Islands - Sailing Nandji, Ep 63
Sailing Nandji - Frothlyfe

Published on Jan 4, 2018
We leave the Santa Cruz Islands and sail over 400nm to Honiara, Solomon Islands. With little wind, little fuel, head winds and lots of Squalls, will we make it in time to get our dog Marley??? Who are these 10 huge men approaching in a fast boat?? COMMENT what you would do in that situation.
https://www.sailingnandji.com

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, with our 54 extra litres of diesel we got from selling rum to the police of Nendo island, we depart the Santa Cruz group of islands and head to Honiara where we are due to collect our dog Marley. Sailing on schedule is never a good idea, as it creates extra stress and pressure. With little wind for days and limited fuel, we jump from squall to squall, utilising the wind from each weather system. With long patches of no wind then a head wind for 4 days, we pound our way up the Indispensable straight towards Honiara. Arriving in the nick of time with plenty of diesel . to spare!

We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, then bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off, sailing around the Pacific! SUBSCRIBE TO OUR CHANNEL.

When Two Worlds Collide - Ep. 84 RAN Sailing
RAN Sailing

Published on Jan 19, 2018
Our cruising in the remote Guna Yala in Panamá continues and next island was Whale Island which was a popular anchorage by the privateers in the 16th century. The we continue to the largest village in Guna Yala, Ustupu, to buy local SIM cards and find internet. But that was easier said than done and we realize that having a YouTube channel isn't always that easy when sailing in remote places.

We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. What Not To Do on a Boat: Lesson No. 1,485 (Sailing La Vagabonde) Ep. 123
Sailing La Vagabonde

Published on Jan 8, 2018
Ohhhh dear. Well I wasn't expecting to have to glue up my boyfriends cracked head with my friend Josje onboard, 50nm away from land. It definitely could have been worse. It goes to show how quickly things could go wrong and it doesn't even necessarily have to be from something super risky or adventurous. We've swam off the back of the boat COUNTLESS times (and will continue to do so, but next time butts will be shuffled just that little bit further off the back before sliding in ). I'm just glad you're okay Riles. Thanks to Josje for being a legend and helping me mend this silly humans head.

In this week's WoW TV:

Volvo Ocean Race Leg 4 Melbourne-Hong Kong look-back with Chris Nicholson of AkzoNobel talks of Scallywag
Sung Hung Kai/Scallywag is first into Hong Kong winning the leg into their home port
The talking point in the recent Rolex Sydney Hobart Race was the port-starboard incident just after the start. Josh Whittacker was onboard WOXI and he is interviewed by sailing legend Dennis Conner in his Sailing Blog and describes what happened. Dennis probes and we find out more on the controversial incident. A must-watch for all sailors..Thank you Dennis for sharing it with the "World on Water TV"
After waiting for two months for the best weather pattern to siil around the world the huge trimaran Spindrift 2 (130 Foot) was dismasted as it went to the starting point of their attempt to win the Jules Verne Trophy. Better near their home base than at Cape Horn like some others.
The Australian Yachting Trophy regatta was sailes in Melbourne out of the Sandringham Yacht Club and recent Rolex Sydney Hobart IRC winner Matt Allen's Ichi Ban was victorious. Here is Day 2.
Foiling Week was in Sydney and all the Americas Cuppers and local foilers turned out to enjoy the weather.
Rolex Sydney Hobart race yacht, Ray Roberts Hollywood Boulevard hit a "Sunfish" off Tasmania and water came in around the rudder area. Two rescue helicopters were despatched to the yacht to retrieve the six crew. We have the dramatic footage.
At "warp-speed" VOR Yacht Turn The Tide On Plastic flew down a wave, lifted her rudders out of the water and "Chinese Gybed". Here is the sequence that is riveting and although you can't hear the action the sight of the boat rolling over and with all thw weight on the wrong side staying down is a must-see. One thing it says a lot for the boat design. All are OK although they see never-again.
The "World on Water TV" Sailing News Show is the world's most watched Sailing Weekly Show with over One Million Minutes of Sailing Video watched Every Month. Yes One Million!

MSC Rifaya battles to depart Felixstowe in the brisk S/W wind. 28th January 2018
Deano C

Published on Jan 28, 2018
The 400 metre MSC Rifaya prepares to depart Felixstowe Berth 9 with a draught of 11.5 metres for her next port of Rotterdam. Two 2411 Svitzer tugs assist with the departure.

A Harwich Haven pilot boards the MSC Rifaya up the gangway from the quayside. The last crane booms up and the driver makes their way down the many flights of steps.

The pilot onboard requests the services ready to depart. Svitzer Sky and Svitzer Shotley makes their way from the tug pontoon to Berth 9. Mooring gang pulls up fore and aft and waits for the crew onboard to single up. the pilot gets the Shotley to make fast centre lead aft and the Sky make fast on the starboard quarter. The forward lines begin to slacken and winched back onboard. As the the rest of the lines are released, the wind began to strengthen to a brisk 20-24 knots.

All lines back onboard the pilot gets both tugs to increase power to pull off the stern off the berth while the pilot uses the bow thruster to bring the bow out into the channel. The bow begins to move steadily away from the berth but with the pressure of the wind against the starboard side, the bow thrusters struggle and the bow edges closer and closer to the berth. The pilot gets the tugs to ease up so the bow could catch up. Finally with the bow catching up, the tugs start increasing power again until the Rifaya enters the channel. The pilot get the Sky to ease up to be released from the starboard quarter. While the sky is released, Shotley eases up and drops in astern. The pilot says the Shotley that they will be required for a powered indirect around the 90 degree Beach End turn out of the harbour.

Sky released swings around the stern and stands by on the port quarter for the corner. The Rifaya eases ahead on the main engine and begins to build up some speed. Passing the Fort Buoy, the pilot gets the Shotley to move out onto the starboard side and give what they could for a powered indirect. As the ship approaches the Beach End, the pilot radios the Sky to position on the port quarter and give what they could. Safely around the Beach End, Sky breaks away from the ships side and heads back into the harbour. Shotley eases up to drop in astern then slackens to close up ready to let go.
