There's people buying 20 Ozarks at a time right now. They'll be going quick.
"More than 57% sold" currently according to the BPM ebay listing for the Ozark bullion puck.

I picked up some ozarks for $113, I'll gamble. In six months the mint will either screw me or I should be able to flip them for almost 100% profit.

They sold around 100 from yesterday to this AM then selling stopped until a couple/few hours ago when 34 more sold.

I still don't trust the Mint not to crank it up again...big boost for the program sales if they don't but we will see....(full disclosure...I already have my tube of both Fred and Ozarks)

Hard to understand how demand for the Ozark puck came to a screeching halt after two weeks supposedly but apparently dealers are still demanding more Moultrie and Effigy pucks. lol

Good theory, but how do you explain the mint suddenly creating nearly 10,000 2016 Moultries in May 2017? Current price is $97.90 at Apmex (cheapest puck) how many do they have hidden in the break room? 90,000??

Ozark the better design and actual state (District of Columbia Fred) is currently priced at Apmex $5 cheaper than the six figure mintage Gettysburg puck ....Apmex likes to make money and has insider knowledge so if the Ozark doesn't start matching the Fred price over the next week or so my guess is "sold out at mint" just means they haven't run another batch ....it is only June.
Release date for Ellis island is August 28th. Even if they started minting a full month earlier in preparation that is still a month off. Plenty of time for more Ozarks...

The army taught me to never reinforce defeat but I'm gonna gamble and hope Ozark pays for my Effigy strike out.

And if the Mint doesn't come up with more, APMEX can just eat the ones they have.... they are greedy wanting over $130 for these bullion pucks when silver is under $17.
Plus APMEX is saying the Mint is sold out. Trying to justify their price. LOL! The more time that passes, the more I am losing my interest in these 5 ounce pucks.

They are buying at $84.90 and selling at $130.60. That is one helluva spread.

You noticed that too, huh?
:-)

Not only that, but they are offering more for any old random 5 ounce puck than they are a "supposedly sold out" Ozark puck.

I think we are witnessing HYPE. They can eat the so called "sold out" Ozarks as far as I'm concerned.

"Sold out at the US Mint!" could mean 1 of 2+ things:

1. The Mint is sold out of "current inventory," ie stock currently available to AP's. More stock to come in the future.
2. The Mint is sold out of all stock of current issues permanently.

Based on the US Mint history, I'd lean toward scenario #1. We've seen this with ASE's. For example, the US Mint has historically not been always able to mint ASE's to demand and ASE's have regularly been "out of stock and sold out" from time to time in periods of high demand.

Some of the dealers play newbs like a fiddle with their sales pitches. You folks know better. I wish you luck.

And if you and I know that... you know APMEX knows that. So that only means APMEX is HYPING the situation by flagging them as "sold out at the mint!"
And APMEX isn't alone. Other dealers also are currently charging excessively high prices for the Ozark pucks, APMEX just is the highest priced example of this HYPE.

Douglass and Ozark both sitting at 20,000 still. 35,000 for Effigy.

As of now (12:01 AM, July 2, 2017), these numbers are still holding. The premiums on JMB are about the same as my last post on this thread.

ModernCoinMart on ebay blew out 22 Frederick Douglass NGC MS69 DPL for $139.95 Friday and yesterday. I was hoping they would last until tomorrow when last quarters ebay bucks are released to spend, but they sold in about 24 hours. I did get 1 though.

Also, who is BPM above?? The only BPM I can think of has plenty of each available.

BPM = Bay Precious Metals. BPM is an online dealer that is on ebay. BPM had raw bullion Ozarks on for $119.75 but those have been sold out.

I got the last one of those from MCM. I'm with a few others here, I think more will show up, but I have to admit, the pressure got to me, and I sprung for one, just in case. At least I got a slabbed one, some people are paying $165.00 for a raw coin.

Got it. The way it was phrased with credit card price made me think it was online dealers and their credit card price.
I also think more will be released, unless the ATB press or blank supplier press has been shut down for a month or two of maintenance. Or if somehow the mint is having trouble sourcing silver.

Bold Precious Metals has the following currently:
37 Ozark at $120.38 cc price, $115.75 cash/check price.
71 Douglass at $163.54 cc price, $157.25 cash/check price.
They also have discounts for 10+ coins.
They also have a great first time orderer discount package where you can buy selective packages at spot. I have not ordered from them yet, but know others on either this board or bullionstacker.com that have and have been happy.

I paid $155.00 for the last slabbed 69DPL shipping included.
Looks like you bought the last of the FR (first release) version for the $154.95. I bought one of those Thursday night when ebay bonus bucks was 8%.
They also had the ER (Early Release) version listed for $154.95 and lowered the price to $139.95 on Friday. For some reason its not showing up now in completed listings but it is ebay item number 132166527628. They sold 22 of those at $139.95 . I hadn't even realized NGC had a separate Early Release and First Release designation.

I've got the limited edition highly sought after early first release slab with the autograph of the mint director and an American flag in the right corner. I'll throw in $25 and a coupon for a free appetizer at Chile's if someone will trade me a raw puck for it.

Lol, it's at the point where the color of the label, the symbol, early this, mercanti that, it's just a bunch of added bullcrap. Yeah, give me the Spiderman coin, colored version, with the Captain James T. Kirk limited release label, with the double hum baby Scratch resistant holder.

The original link for BPM (Bay Precious Metals) was for an Ebay sale and a CC could be used for that purchase so, for equal comparison, I kept all other company prices at CC quotes. Check would be cheaper for most but takes longer to process....

Thanks for the other BPM (Bold Precious Metals)...always good to have more companies to compare....they are now the one with the most coins left of both issues

So, we still have the question of "Why". Why all of a sudden, if true, do these last two issues only produce, or sell 20K coins? We all know they would easily sell more than 20K of each. Is the Mint playing games to rekindle interest in the series again? Right now, both coins being at 20K, are still more readily available than the Arches or Sand Dunes, and the Douglass is fetching a higher premium. Only a 2K coin difference between them. Someone is playing games somehow, somewhere.

...............The last time that I was successful at "bottom fishing" for bullion pucks was the Arches bullion puck that I bought for $110 at a small coin show. I hope to sell it for $155 very soon. "Bottom fishing" for bullion pucks at coin shows and local dealers is the best way to be successful in making money on them IMO.........
Yesterday, I ended up selling that Arches bullion puck for $155 on ebay. After paying ebay fees, paypal fees and shipping, I made a net profit of $21 on the deal. I am happy with it.

I did sell a Vicksburg bullion puck for $131 today (I paid $100 for it earlier this year). After paying ebay fees, paypal fees and shipping, I made a net profit of $11 on the deal. Not great profit but it adds up considering that I made $21 on the Arches bullion puck that I sold on Monday (July 3).

I am tempted to buy an Ozark bullion puck but I have not pulled the trigger at this point. I want to see if the Ozark bullion mintage continues to hold at 20,000. I will also see if spot silver continues to drop from this point. If I miss out on getting one at Bay Precious Metals, then I will bottom fish for one at the next few coin shows that I go to.

It worries me a bit that Bay all of a sudden went from sold out to having what looks like around 150 more Ozarks for sell. And also lowered the premium a bit in addition to the spot price going down. I wouldn't think they would do that unless they thought they could get more from the mint. If they thought the mint was truly sold out and the mintage was maxed at 20000 then they definitely wouldn't blow out a bunch more from a business standpoint. Obviously I'm hoping they just had a ton and there won't be anymore released.

Yeah that is a good point. Lowering the premium on the Ozark bullion puck with a supposed mintage of only 20,000 makes you go hmmmmmm.............................

The real question is this............Will 20,000 mintage number hold on the Ozark bullion puck?

If one thinks that the 20,000 mintage number will hold on the Ozark bullion puck, then more people will load up the truck on the Ozark at this point

If one thinks that the 20,000 mintage number will not hold on the Ozark bullion puck, then that person will not load up the truck on the Ozark at this point.

In terms on what I will do (not a final decision as of 6:07 AM), I will probably buy just one bullion Ozark to see what happens even though I told myself that I would not buy any more bullion pucks. I truly like the design of this puck and even if I do not get the bullion Ozark, I will plan to get the Ozark "P" version puck when it comes out on July 11, 2017 (Tuesday) because I really like the design of this one.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I went ahead and bought one Ozark bullion puck for $109.45 on ebay at Bay Precious Metals (spot silver was at $15.85 when I pulled the trigger on this purchase). I truly think and I am betting that 20,000 mintage will hold for the Ozark bullion. I am also planning to buy the Ozark "P" shortly after it becomes available on USMint.gov.

Ok...minor rant. I just received my Ozarks from Bay PM and the product is great, time to shipping was great BUT they ship UPS sig required which I guess is not an issue if you are just hanging around for a full day but I kinda have a life. Missed day one delivery , almost missed day two when it was delivered right before we were leaving for a dinner trip. I definitely would have missed day three. UPS delivers anywhere from 11am to 7pm

USPS sig req is MUCH better. If I miss the delivery I just drive 2 miles the next day to get it. UPS has the potential for three failed deliveries and then a 30 mile trip to the main UPS facility on day four.

This WILL affect future purchases.

Rant over....
