AOC "New Green Deal" Stunningly Absurd: Far More Ridiculous Than Expected

byMish
4 hrs-edited

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) released her bill for a "Green New Deal". It's stunningly absurd.
Today AOC released her New Green Deal Proposal.
It's a wish list of socialist and green ideas, most of which are obviously absurd to all but the most economically clueless persons.
It has zero chance of passage and it's nonbinding, but here are some of the key ideas.

  1. Upgrade all existing buildings in the US
  2. 100% clean power
  3. Support family farms
  4. Universal access to healthy food
  5. Zero-emission vehicle infrastructure
  6. Remove greenhouse gasses form the atmosphere
  7. Eliminate unfair competition
  8. Affordable access to electricity
  9. Create high-quality union jobs that pay prevailing wages
  10. Guaranteeing a job with a family sustaining wage, adequate family and medical leave, paid vacations, and retirement security to all people of the United States
Here are a couple of comments from Twitter.
Fyre Festival of Legislative Proposals

As Bad as Expected

Democrats have released the "Green New Deal," proposal and it's just as bad as expected. This liberal proposal is full of leftists ideas that would cost taxpayers an astronomical amount of money. #GreenNewDeal

No, it was far worse. Perhaps Heritage is more imaginative than I am.
Revenge of the Millennials

Bloomberg writer Karl W. Smith calls it Revenge of the Millennials
Almost every major new economic initiative proposed by Democrats — the Green New Deal, Medicare for all, debt-free college — has a common feature: Unlike most current social programs, it would benefit younger Americans at the expense of older Americans.
Now, finally, it seems that they have had enough. They want to use fiscal policy to help repair the damage wrought by monetary policy. This isn’t necessarily the way I would address the issue; I would argue for fixing monetary policy instead of spending vast additional sums to support a new suite of government entitlements. I am certainly sympathetic, however, to those who think otherwise.

Smith is mistaken. This proposal sounds just like the lofty socialist goals of Castro, Chavez, Maduro, and Mugabe (Cuba, Venezuela, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe).
Implementing AOC's plan would do just what Stukey suggested to which I add:
If someone blows off your left arm with a shotgun, it's best not to blow your right arm off as "revenge".

They were talking on 1190 WOWO how the proposal would ban all cars, all air travel, all fossil fuels, end nuclear power and retrofit every single building and house in the US with be energy efficient appliances, heating, cooling as well as roofs and insulation.....no way the barmaid gave this any legitimate thought.

I bet she has no idea where the clean electricity she wants actually comes from. I am sure she thinks it comes from the wall plug in. She never even considered all the toxic waste that comes from making solar panels. Or the idea that we could never build CD enough windmills to provide enough reliable power.....she is delusional

She's on the right track. The real culprit is people. That's what needs to be eliminated. You, me and other worthless breathers.

I'll take these proposal if we start with personal jets. And then I'll take the environmentalist serious that they care about momma earth

Simply solution... post birth abortion for every registered democrat. Maga

Communists versus the Socialists never ends well for the 'peasants'

Pelosi versus Alexandria will NOT end well for We The People

unless it's capitalized on, and until now, that hasn't happened for a few decades

President Trump is just playing with these people

:2 thumbs up:

She is a very attractive boundless energy tool for those who run her. A puppet in a play. She's fixated in a dream, that will become a nightmare if she ever grows up.

My take is big gardens with non GMO foods and free range livestock in the big cities.
Sort of...

It really means free range human livestock from urban centers fed from YOUR and my gardens for free.

My favorite line was giving a standard of living to people unable or UNWILLING to work. If that happens, then I will instantly become unwilling to work...as will a lot of other people essentially crushing the system.

Getting rid of Monsanto? Easier access to organic foods? Why do organics farmers have to jump through hoops to provide a mile of paperwork to grow food naturally but chemical farmers don't have to do anything except spray chemicals?

Nobody, just have the Fed click the mouse a few times and conjure up quadrillions of "dollars" out of thin air.

We're all billionaires living in Utopia.

I look at this bill the same way I see the abortion issue:

If someone is fully committed to removing their carbon footprint, then it is time to self-abort.

You first AOC!

Define family farming....the guys around me claim to be family farmers with their 40k head swine barns and 100k head chicken barns...the all seem to be running 10k acres of corn and soybeans that are produced by the great Ag powers. Not sure they qualify as family farms in the sense that they grow produce and sell it weekly at local fresh markets...if that is the goal of supporting family farms then it is yet another pipe dream...they cant produce enough to feed 330 million peeps

Kamala is on board too but, she wasn't a good choice to offer this boondoggle. The DS want to keep her around for the POTUS position

and remember, all they 'really expect' to get, out of the entire New Deal, is a % of what they're demanding

small bites

to get infanticide, they had to get us to accept abortion

I have watched a few of her speeches and her talks at hearings. She is an idiot...however for someone with no political experience stepping up to the big stage of national politics she seems pretty polished...as in coached as if hand selected

Does it even matter at this point? We took the socialist path starting in the 1930's fueled by the passage of the federal reserve act.
Under the patriot act they took away all our rights that they had no authority to take in the first place.
in2008 with 90% of the population against it, they bailed out the banks. They set precedence for this in earlier years with the bailout of Chysler.
Obamacare was passed when most were against it. 15% of our population didn't have insurance or 45,million people. We could have insured them all for 5k each at a cost of 2.25 billion.. Instead we have spent well over a trillion and the insurance companies have raped the entire population because of it. yea the gov never fixes anything.
Its not like we gonna do anything to stop any of this. We aren't going to call for an end to education, ambulances, the MIC, welfare, food stamps or any other federal socialist program.
The real challenge IMO is to not have one of these dips shits in the Presidency when it all collapses. When that happens we get a dictator. Every election going forward should be with the thought that this one may become dictator.
