Seeing as this thread is about the Dealer Rating, here goes:

From the other thread:

I will send David at Apmex a link to this thread and tell him to check it out,

Don't know what good it will do, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Scorp
It must have done no good. :( At least Scott would have replied back. :)

Even their specials are more than the other dealers regular prices now. They must be doing really well now because their prices suck!

Was looking at their 1 and 2.5 gram gold bars the other day, around 18/20 bucks each over melt, Gainesville was much lower.

I trust them very much. For small orders, I find their shipping fees a tad high, so its better to wait until I have a larger order. But I trust them - that says a lot!

I ordered some Cougars and my "1" allocated Dragon; estimated date was in October but got everything on Thursday 9/29. Cougars are all nice with no milk spots (which we know can be a real problem with Canadian maples and the like) and the Dragon is gorgeous. True that on the shipping charges, which many of us have addressed before and hopefully someday they'll address that. All in all, another great experience with APMEX.

Voted this poll very early and based on favorable buying history wrt service, packaging and prices.

If had option to vote today would give them a negative review because of their poor performance with the Perth Dragons. Have two orders placed since mid Sept and nada. Most disappointing. Does not help that prices for the proof coins are also ridiculous compared to the Perth mint or other online stores (Talsman).

More recent pricing policy suggests they are no longer interested in retaining the business of the knowledgeable stacker. (imo)

I just did a small sell deal with APMEX and Brandon.
Everything is on schedule and they gave me slightly more than anyone else.

LOL...of course you got a little better deal then anybody else. You have access to every deal APMEX makes right?? Your arrogance never ceases to amaze.

I was planning on buying a roll set of the Perth lunars buying a roll with each issue. Yesterday I received my 20 Dragons at $99 each and lo and behold they were not in the usual celophane roll. My assumption is they were all inspected so that any possible ms70s could be cherry picked out. It's not Apmex's fault. I bought 20like I always did and assumed that since they were in sealed rolls in the past these would be as well.
I got what I paid for but will know in the future to never assume anything.
Very dissapointed, but not ripped off here I guess

Just got my "Check was mailed letter" on my sell order. The timeframe was very prompt.
Hopefully APMEX is back on track to being the great company they always were?

fyi edsl,

I sent this off to Apmex awhile ago and they are working on it, trying to get you and I a reasonable answer.

Hopefully they can get back to us with a acceptable solution.

Thanks for the heads up is what they said,

Oh, well thank you for interceding and I am interested in the reply. I did get what I paid for though...I think maybe I was expecting too much. It was just that anytime in the past when I ordered roll quantities they came in rolls. The perths were always in cellophane rolls so like I said I just assumed...
Thanks again :)

Or they could have bought them from secondary dealers, who were the ones to open up the roll before selling them to apmex. You really don't know.

My advice would be to submit any special requests with the original order.

I bought a roll from Gainesville, they were all in the usual perth wrap, apmex probably sent them all for grading.

If they did then they would have known that they were 69s and should have marketed them as such. Shucks, maybe I did get ripped as I think more about this

lurking in the shadows.....
I would not sell to Apmex if you live in the Edmond/Oklahoma City Area. Tried to sell them 14 20 pesos gold coins. Their buy price on the website stated they were buying at $790 a coin. They told me they had too many in stock so they referred me to Absolute Diamond which turned out to be a scrap gold buyer. They offered me $580 a coin. It seems Apmex is buying gold locally through a scrap business offering well below their listed price. Ended up selling to Gainesville coins.

Just did probably the best deal ever with Adam. I told him I thought that APMEX was turning it around and to thank Brandon for that other deal I did.
He thanked me.
It really does seem that the whole attitude over there has improved:)
It's also a question of checking websites and see what dealers are out of what you are trying to sell.

Just got my 20 Morgans in a tube today as announced in a thread on the 23rd Thanksgiving eve:
http://www.goldismoney2.com/showthr...or-Morgan-Peace-dollars-at-MELT-over-at-Apmex

I wasn't sure what to expect since they are classified as culls. I thought some might be slicked & under weight.
A couple sure are shiny (cleaned) but I don't care about that.
The weights were all good.
Most were at 26.7 grams, with just 6 or so at 26.4 grams or between.
Emails were good with priority mail signature required.
I paid by credit card so with shipping my cost came out to about $26.30 per coin

They did what they said they would & that's all I ask.

I did a nice deal with Chad today.
While I was talking to him on the phone, spot went from 31.61 to 30.48 which I locked in.
It then went to 31.44 and graciously locked in that price which makes quite a difference on a 41K order> 2003 sealed mb, 2004 sealed mb, and 120 2011 silver koalas. The shipping, insurance, and handling was also waived as APMEX does on sizeable orders.
In short, APMEX seems to be a top shelf company again.

Just got my latest purchase from APMEX, and very happy. This is my forth, or fifth transaction, and all have gone well. I always pay by check, to save on fees, and I don't mind the short wait. I usually receive my metal, with 15 days of me posting the check.
Great company.

APMEX has a great site and service. Good prices on gold.:cool1:
Only thing is their shipping and silver rates are a tad high.
Rolls of silver were sky high last time I checked.
I suppose if you like to play their game and wait for an email
with a nice offer that's fine .
Definitely one of my top choices but my last purchase was from Provident.
4 stars.

Received a order in from them today, and I am quite satisfied. Exactly what I ordered. I gave them 4 stars, only due to the fact that they have higher shipping and CC costs than some of the others. I will do business with them again, since it seems like they have specials and sales quite often.

I'm not sure why they even offer credit card sales. Last time I tried to buy something via CC, they literally wanted DNA and stool samples before they released the order.

I WILL NEVER BUY CC FROM THEM. Not worth the trouble.

And if APMEX ever reads this -- y'all should write very clearly that your CC sales have VERY STRINGENT requirements. This would help before having your customers go through the trouble of ordering anything.

I don't understand? When I use a CC I just need to make sure the billing and shipping addresses match?

On one side I agree, on the other they help prevent credit card fraud which is rampant and that raises prices for everyone just like shop lifting, I use a cc from where I work and sometimes buy 100s of bucks worth of stuff and they never ask for ID, this is a bit puzzling as If I lost the card someone could easily run up a few k on it.

Your experience is far from what I've experienced on the APMEX website. I don't think I could ask for an easier web site to order from. That is one of thing they've got going for them. They don't have the cheapest prices but they've got one of the best web sites I've used in making online purchases of precious metals.

Although I usually pay by personal check (to save the 3% credit card fee), I have used my credit card multiple times and never experienced any problems.

I am not fond of their prices; I can usually realise better on BullionDirect, but I have sold to them in the past and have been reasonably satisfied.

At least APMEX uses USPS if you request it. Others will only use UPS who will either (1) leave your stuff out on your porch for the world to see/steal or (2) refuse to deliver without a signature and if they miss you three times (they always come when you're at work and nobody's home and they don't deliver on Saturdays) then your stuff gets sent back.

Valid point; I've never had a problem getting a shipment from UPS, then again, the landlord has signed for a package at least once. I wonder if getting a box at the UPS store would bypass the delivery issue.

I've had tons of problems with UPS—from leaving ammo out on the porch all day to requiring a signature for stupid stuff. The worst thing they did was refuse to deliver a computer after missing me 3 times on delivery—no matter how many notes I left on my front door or calls to the main office saying I'd be home after 5:30pm. They refused to hold it at the UPS store for me to pick up (30 miles away) and it ended up getting sent back to China; so I had to re-order the computer all over again and by then some of the features on the computer were no longer available.

USPS won't deliver ammo but it's the best option when ordering PMs (especially if you know and trust your mailman).

It's a bit difficult for me to rate APMEX right now.

I started buying from them in Jan 08. Sold a few times to them also. All
transactions were absolutely flawless. Good system.

But unfortunately I learned a lesson when it comes to rating a business that sells
to the public. Customer service is only as good as their perfomance when there's
a problem
Not when everything is running as it should to keep satisfied, returning,
customers.

A supervisor from APMEX is suppose to get in touch with me today. I already have it
in my mind that around 3:00pm CST I'll be calling them AGAIN.

Why? Because it took me from Friday afternoon until yesterday, Tuesday, to get them
to understand and acknowledge that the package I sent them (sell order from me) had
been signed for by someone from APMEX last Thursday.

edit: Before 2:00PM I received a call from a customer service representative. She said
everything was now fixed and my item moved to the proper place and checked in. Received
an email on this too. So, alls well that ends well on this one.

I'd like to hear more about how you submitted the DNA & Stool samples.
I only ordered from APMEX twice, both times using credit cards and had the deal done in minutes with no issues.
My orders were small.
Were you spending a large sum that stretched the limits on your credit?
Were you asking them to ship to an address different than your card billing address?
