Are these Engelhard bars worth more than usual?

Hoping my picture comes through, I have three Engelhard bars. Two of them have sequential serial numbers P949292 and P949293 and the other has what seems to be a very low number P000063

Are these the same as any other - serial numbers don't matter?

Swapping 100 Oz bars for America the Beautiful 5 Oz pucks or perhaps another Monster Box of ASE's.

If serial numbers mean nothing, so if nobody cares if the bars are sequential or have a low serial number then APMEX will give me spot less 50 cents or even spot, depending on the day. This guy on ebay is asking $2,650 for two bars, just like mine. What do you know?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Engelhard-...842684?hash=item1ee361977c:g:DR0AAOSwEYBajI7D

With spot at $17 per Oz, he is asking $26.50 or $9.55 over spot - that right there is a 56% premium. APMEX is asking spot plus $1.50 so the "serial premium is $8 bucks over spot. I will be watching this one for sure.

Here is another, this for J&M& Mallory poured bars for $5,600 so $28 an Oz or 11 bucks over so that's 64.71% premium. APMEX is asking for spot plus 3 bucks on these so the "serial premium" is 8 bucks over, same as above.

"At the end of the day they are just hunks of silver." (my local coin dealer)

Good luck

SC
Which is why I am swapping out some of these doorstops for ATB pucks, some of these actually have a numismatic component. But more than that, the pucks are nicer to look at.

They're worth whatever you can get someone to pay for them. It's just a game!

Some of the pucks do too. The Engelhard and silver bars to profit on are generally 10 oz & under.

I've got rare 3 and 7 oz JM bars that could each triple their spot price easily.

Perth Mint silver products are hands down the best NUMI BANG for your buck. Unequivocally, without a doubt. I've posted my numbers here in the past to prove it.

Yer what?!

About the three Engelhard bars, shorty — the low number one will be collectible to the right collector but ya gotta find him. The consecutive serial number, meh, not so much — big bars. If they were ten or five ouncers consecutive is more desirable.

With that said, I would have to say that peoples out there are getting more and more insane about 'collectible' Engelhards so big bars might be getting attractive but they're already pretty high priced for most collectors. Put 'em on e-bait with a high BIN price and see what transpires.

JMHO,
BF

REMEMBER, On EBAY the Seller can ask any price. (Just look at ROLEX asking prices)
What matters is what price sellers move their inventory. ;-)

Wow NewMisty, you are doing good there. What should i ask for those on EBay? Or should I just have you sell them on consignment for me? You keep 33% of the premium you get over spot?

How does getting $4136 per Troy ounce of silver sound? Not shabby right?

Smaller is better. Odder and smaller is even more betterer!

Pre ebay fee's of course-https://www.ebay.com/itm/First-Union-Logo-Johnson-Matthey-1-Gram-999-Fine-Silver-Bar-SN-A0358-JM-Sealed/132628121253?hash=item1ee14086a5:g:OMoAAOSw7tRa~0TN

None of the ones posted are mine SS. They are sitting on the bottome of some non descript Lake in New Brunsphuck along with my canoe and and a 45 slug. Was able to save the gun, casing and myself. Everything else was a total loss.

I sold two 1-oz commercial JM bars with "Republic Bank" on them. One sold for $96 and the other sold for "only" $35. The one that sold for $35 was in much worse condition than the one that I sold for $96.

As for Engelhard bars, the only ones that I have seen that have sold for large premiums over melt were the ones that were odd weight poured bars such as the 2-oz, 3-oz, 5-oz and 7-oz bars as well as the 100-gram Engelhard London bars. There are also certain 1-oz Engelhard bars that will sell for $50 or more on ebay.

I cannot speak for the 100-oz Engelhard bars in the OP. I do not know what those would go for on ebay.

I have to agree with that. In this case, the 1-gram First Union Logo JM bars shows that. I might have to be on the lookout for such bars like that for resell if I can get them for a "decent" premium over melt. Decent meaning 5X - 7X melt ($2.66 - $3.72 per 1-gram bar). Given the premium that it fetched on ebay, one simply cannot go into any LCS expecting to see a bunch of them just sitting there for the taking. Then again..........You never know.
