A few thousand less minted does not make it that much more sacred, IMO. Ya, the 2012 coins are still getting extra premium and the huge 2011 mintage makes them less desirable but I will buy 3 of any of the other years over 2 of the Clark pucks for the same money. Future value, I may be proved this is a wrong opinion.
In principle, I generally agree.

Except that SP70s normally sell for $200 on eBay, and recent prices of the Clark SP70s sold for only $225, which is only a 12.5% increase over the norm. If the price increase from lower mintage comes to fruition, the price can easily rise to $300 per coin, which then reaches the 3-for-2 deal you speak of. But we are not there yet...

A few comments:
1) In theory I would trade three routine mintage P's for two Clarks any day.

2) No clue why in 2018 Hawaii and Acadia with a bit higher mintages would sell at or near $600 raw just because 2011 had high mintages. Might make sense in 2012 or 2013 but not five years later. Now they sell on their own low mintage over 7 years merit as will the Clarks

..and..I posted the $229 PCGS 70's (sold out now) because that was a good price NOT the highest. I did it in case some here were interested. There were also some sales near that target $300 price.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2017-P-GEO...484770?hash=item41d8577622:g:VNYAAOSwMfhaVAz3

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2017-P-GEO...451750?hash=item1c9dbc5ce6:g:JRUAAOSw~o5aVOSf

..and I should mention that these prices are pre-sellout prices. Once it is labeled as a sellout the uninformed will find out the fact that it is now the key of the series. Not everyone reads this forum..their loss

Ha, ha. You convinced me. The 222.50 ones were gone but I did get an ER SP70 with OGP for $232. Worth the extra $9.50, IMO. I don't like buying these things without the 10% ebay bucks, though.

OK, ATB "P" boys, I've done better than this but I have cash to spend and I just won an ebay auction with only 6% ebay cash offered, ending tonight.
Tell me you would or would not have done it...
2016 Cumberland Gap SP70 NGC (damn I hate the footprint) for $177-10 ebay cash= $167. Free shipping.
The ebay cash spends, NGC has their fee, and who knows if your coin from the mint will grade SP70.
You wouldn't be happy buying this coin from the mint, sending it off to be graded and getting $177 minus ebay fees and shipping, would you?

I think you got a bargain, but I recognized that seller as someone who auctions off graded modern coins at wholesale prices.

At some point, this seller will run out of stock and disappear for a few months.

Today's completed Clark sales: $209 raw......$290 PCGS 70

Let's see what happens when it is officially listed as sold out AND the next issue is back in the 17-18k range

I think this series is going to have some lower numbers next year. Reasons are Mint raising price, low price of silver and uninteresting designs.

We'll see but:
Spot silver one year ago today was exactly the same price...wash
Price is up 5 bucks BUT shipping is free after three orders...wash
Design interest is an opinion...I think 2018 has some great designs...opinion

I think they will continue to sell in the 17-18K range unless they throw in another surprise

Yup....37 sold BUT they were still at the same price they were on December 5th so the word isn't out yet on these. Kinda like MCM selling the raw's for $169 a few days ago which was the same price as all their raw P's and only a tad over Mint issue price

There were four sold last week...I took two of them and they are both perfect. I know who got the other two. Definitely not reject returns but most likely a CC issue....

Don't ask how that adds up to plus one.....

wow - looking more likely that we have a new key.

Yep it appears to be a new key issue. Once the USMint officailly declares it as "sold out", the question now remains is......................Will it fetch anywhere near the same premium as the 2012 Volcanoes "P" (raw coin in OGP)?

Damn that is a nice score. I guess it pays to be vigilant. At this point in the game it is hard to imagine losing by picking up Mint 5oz Rogers table scraps.

When I went to the mint website a little while ago, I was able to snag the two Clarks that they had available.

I am conveniently forgetting to check if there are any available....I'm a bit overextended into this one...my luck they will release 1500 more that they just discovered sitting in the janitor's closet
