CORONAVIRUS -- Carl F. Worden
Mon, Jan 27, 2020 9:13 am
Carl Worden (wolfeyes00@gmail.com)
To:you + 1 more Details
I was in a position to witness the HIV/AIDS epidemic close up and personal. Nearly all my associates with Circus Vargas were gay and they are all now quite dead. What made HIV so dangerous was the fact that perfectly healthy, but infected young men had anywhere from six months to a year before they showed any signs of the disease, but in the meantime, they were engaging in sex with multiple partners, many of whom they met anonymously in San Francisco's bath houses, so in many cases, they couldn't even identify the person who infected them. The very first indication of infection was Kaposi's Syndrome, which appeared as purple splotches on the forearms. Once those appeared, the infected person usually only had about six months to live, but by then, they had infected numerous other men, who were also out infecting even more.

The reason I'm telling you this is because this Coronavirus is an airborne contagion, but like HIV, it is contagious during the incubation period when the infected person shows no symptoms whatsoever. The HIV epidemic was largely limited to gay men in the beginning, and as we all know now, it is spread via blood and body fluids, and not by a cough or sneeze. The Coronavirus is spread by simply breathing the air the other person exhales. You don't even have to hear them coughing or sneezing to be infected, so every person you come into close contact with, even if they appear perfectly healthy, is a potential risk.

You folks may remember the Disney example, where ping-pong balls were mounted on each mouse trap, and all those mouse traps covered the entire floor of a room. Just one ping-pong ball was dropped into the room, which triggered one or two traps, sending those ping-pong balls into the air. Pretty soon the entire room was alive with ping pong balls setting off all the other mouse traps until every mouse trap had been triggered. Think of each mouse trap as a person infected with the Coronavirus, and I think you get the picture.

The wild card here is the mortality rate of those infected with the Coronavirus. If that rate is low or modest, this crisis will blow over with minimal casualties; but if the mortality rate is high, people will be dying at a rate that will compare to the mortality rate of the Black Plague. As it stands right now, that mortality rate is being assessed, but while that is happening, multiple people are being infected.

I've decided to use caution. Until our researchers have a better handle on how deadly the Coronavirus is, I won't be eating out or going where large groups of people gather. If you haven't already done it, get immunized against pneumonia. It is probable that most of the deaths so far from Coronavirus are the result of a secondary pneumonia condition that occurs when the infected person's immune system is weakened by the Coronavirus infection. If I'm right, immunization against pneumonia will save many lives until a vaccine can be developed that will directly address the Coronavirus itself.

Food for thought, but only for the truly thoughtful.

A lot of humans in America are dead because of the flu.

No quarantines here.

The article is a couple years ago...

In January of 2019 , about 20,000 deaths in America from flu , I think H1N1 ...

- a new weaponized virus
- virus has unusually long latency period
- Virus has an extremely high infection rate
- outbreak occurs proximate to a very dangerous bio-hazard lab
- outbreak perfectly timed to coincide with Chinese New Year, the absolute best time of year to spread the disease

5 coincidences is 4 too many. I suspect the global elites are getting tired of their slow-kill game and decided to up the ante. One clue will be spontaneous outbreaks in other major cities. The elites aren't stupid, they will stagger the outbreaks in time so they can maintain the claim that it all started in Wuhan.

However, this virus on its own won't be enough to cause the kind of havoc they want. Be watching for the other shoe to drop, probably some other flag event that will multiply the impact of the virus outbreak.

After the outbreak, a "vaccine" was (by happy coincidence) to be available...

Dark. Fucking dark.

And it is where my mind has been -- against my will -- going from the first announcement. DS/Cabal. They would have the wherewithal to do just as described above.

And based on the execution of a Supreme court judge (w/o autopsy), and the execution of Epstein (w/o real autopsy), and the international Chinese/Ukraine/UK/US power links... they would do it.

Yeah, it could be. I pray that it isn't, because then Trump is a single leaf blowing in a hurricane.

So far it appears to be more contagious than SARS, but less lethal.
Has there been a death outside of PRC?

Apparently yelling at the devil virus will defeat it.......

They're saying 加油 (Jiāyóu)! It's a common expression in Mandarin. I only know about 15 expressions in mandarin, and this is one of them, so it must be common. The literal translation is "add oil", which is a funny way to say gather energy to give it your all, work hard, come on! Something like that. They're just encouraging each other to hang in there and fight this thing. Maybe they should just chant "wash your hands and disinfect your phone."

Me too. I’d love to know how he managed to stay conscious and fully already holding his stump...errr, I mean “leg”...after getting his foot and all the muscle below his knee blown off.

Maybe we’ll see him in the next “act of terror” event.

I'd like to know the purpose of the white bandage on the leg above the knee other then to hide a seam with a already amutated leg and a fake injured stump and bone? Seems only a tourniquet would be used there and I don't see one.

A tourniquet should be placed as high up his leg as possible. He should be bled out and dead already, let alone conscious. There is no way he'd even be able to sit up and hold his leg. Movie magic.

Some of these crisis actors have done their own TedTalks. If you've seen a recent TedTalk, it shouldn't surprise you in the least. The typical topic is something like "why it's hip to be gender fluid".

Medical martial law, includes a forced trip to a FEMA camp where you would expect to get medical treatment but that does not seem to be the case. You might have a cough from a common cold and that could get you sent to a camp where you will catch the real deal and die.

Is this why they are disarming us state by state right now?

Virus Completely OUT OF CONTROL, Killing Tens-of-Thousands Every day; Gov't Covering-up
WORLD NEWS DESK 04 FEBRUARY 2020 HITS: 37740

Deaths from the bio-weapon coronavirus outbreak are so widespread, it is mind-boggling. The outbreak in China is completely, totally, out of control and literally killing tens-of-thousands of people every day. The death toll is being deliberately concealed by government to avoid public panic.
Yesterday, more cities inside China have been put under travel restriction (Quarantine), locking-down another nine million people. Now, the virus is spreading to many other countries around the world. What we see happening in China, will also happen in those other countries; including to us here in the United States.
The media silence about what is presently taking place in China and elsewhere is almost a crime against humanity. The general public is being left blissfully unaware that the single most deadly outbreak of disease in more than 100 years, is spreading like wildfire around the globe, because a Virus Laboratory in Wuhan China, appears to have accidentally released a Military Bio-weapon it was working on.
Only ancillary and casual mention of the "coronavirus" is being made on TV and in newspapers. Social media companies like Facebook, Twitter and Google are aggressively CENSORING much of the information coming out of China; deliberately halting the flow of real images and video to conceal the actual facts.
Meanwhile, the general public in America, Europe and in Australia have no idea whatsoever, THEY will likely face six-to-eight-weeks-long QUARANTINE as the virus spreads in those places too.
Most in the general public do not have enough food in their homes to feed themselves during a 6 to 8 week Quarantine, and government does not have emergency food stored-up to give them any.
When the disease rises to levels in America, Europe, and Australia, as it has in China, those people in the general public WILL DIE from lack of preparedness.
Take a look at the videos below from inside China and see for yourself the level of death taking place each and every day:
Dead Bodies Everywhere:

More Dead Bodies:

People in Wuhan and several other cities, have been ordered to remain inside their apartments and homes or face arrest. Authorities check on these people a couple times a week. When no one answers the door, authorities know the people are all dead . . . like this:

In Hong Kong, people have begun dropping dead on the streets, just like has happened in mainland China for weeks:

Hong Kong restaurant:

Exited a train in Hong Kong and dropped dead on his face:

Sudden drop-dead death everywhere!

Shopping malls:

Public transportation hubs:

And at another:

Even young and otherwise healthy, dropping dead on the spot:

More:

People who are infected are even dropping dead on Cruise Ships:

So many people are dying, the dead bodies are being loaded into VANS for immediate cremation. Watch as they open the back of the van to load the latest dead body, you'll see four other bodies inside!

People who break Quarantine are now being SHOT DEAD by police!

So many people are so sick, and in such desperate need of medical care, China is having to set up Dormitory-like areas inside Exhibition Halls and sports stadiums just to try to deal with the sick:

https://chinavirusoutbreak.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Feb-4/Feb-4-VanLoadedWithDeadBodies.mp4

In Shanghai, one of the biggest and most populated cities on the whole planet, the streets are EMPTY. No one is outside. It's almost like a ghost town:

https://chinavirusoutbreak.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Feb-4/Feb-4-ShotDeadForBreakingQuarantine.mp4

Empty streets!

Chinese authorities are so desperate to stop the virus, they're actually spraying disinfectant OUTDOORS and in public housing:

https://chinavirusoutbreak.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Feb-4/Feb-4-StadiumSetUpForQuarantine.mp4

Authorities are now also installing STEEL BARRICADES to keep people inside homes -- NO ONE ALLOWED OUT:

https://chinavirusoutbreak.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Feb-4/Feb-4-SprayingDisinfectantPublicly.mp4

https://chinavirusoutbreak.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Feb-4/Feb-4-ShanghaiStreetsEMPTY.mp4

https://chinavirusoutbreak.s3-us-we...teelBarricadesAroundHousingToKeepPeopleIN.mp4

All this is coming to America, Europe, and Australia. It cannot be prevented because authorities waited too long to stop International travel. Infected people from China have already spread the disease in countries around the world, and those they infected who may not be sick yet, are already shedding virus and infecting others.

Where is the mass-media to report these facts? Why is this being concealed from the American, European and Australian public?
It appears to some folks that government has adopted a simple strategy: Keep it secret until everyone already knows. By then hudreds-of-thousands will be infected and many, many of them will die.

Will that include YOU?

SPECIFIC DISEASE FACTS
According to an Infectious Disease Specialist in my home state of New Jersey who has direct access to classified information about emerging diseases, humanity is facing "the worst disease crisis in over 100 years" with this new Coronavirus, and "the latest disease progression models are now showing DEATHS on a scale never before seen in human history."
First some basic facts:
The first awareness of this "novel coronavirus" came in China in late December.
41 people in Wuhan, China went to hospitals with fevers, coughs, and other symptoms and were all found to have severe pneumonia, many with acute cardiac damage and, ultimately, a large number of them . . . fifteen percent (15%) died.
The government in China SUPPRESSED information from the public, jailing reporters for "spreading rumors" and for "unpatriotic reporting" -- for which the Mayor of Wuhan has now resigned.
That was late December. By late January China had more than fifty-six MILLION people under Quarantine. An Infection rate of 83% has been conclusively established by a formal medical study published in "The Lancet" medical journal. That means for every 100 people EXPOSED to this new virus, 83 of them will get sick from it.
That same medical study shows the incubation period to be as short as FOUR days, but as long as FOURTEEN Days before a person shows symptoms.
That study also shows the disease becomes contagious DURING the incubation period, meaning the 83 people infected can spread the illness to others BEFORE THEY SHOW SYMPTOMS. People are walking around, doing the things they normally do, with no idea they're sick and already infecting others.
Once symptoms begin, they include fever in 98% of infected persons, cough in 76% of infected persons, and other symptoms. But it is the 98% with fever that is most disturbing, because that means TWO PERCENT HAVE NO FEVER.
At present, authorities checking people for the spread of the disease are only looking for fever and respiratory troubles. Yet two percent of infected do not get fevers.
What that means is that for every 50 people infected, ONE who is infected and contagious, WILL GET THROUGH SCREENING and continue to spread the illness.
Worse, the coronavirus can live on surfaces; for as few as five days, and as long as 28 days. So people who are sick, and who touch store counters, products on store shelves, DOOR HANDLES in public places, or who use public bathrooms, leave the virus on all those things, and the virus lives to infect others for 5 to 28 days.
Further, packages you receive via the Post Office, FedEx, UPS, Amazon or other companies, CAN HAVE VIRUS ON THEM if an infected person handled them, coughed or sneezed on them. The package arrives, you open it and now have the virus on your hands. If you touch your face, mouth or nose . . . or pick up a sandwich and eat it after touching it with your hands, POW, you're infected.
As such, the infectious disease specialist with whom I spoke today, told me "there is no way to stop the spread of this."
Now, various government agencies use Models to project outcomes. And the model I will now report is going to utterly terrify you.
In the example above, out of 100 people EXPOSED, 83 will get sick.
Alright... math time...based on current numbers

83% infection rate according to a medical journal

3.5% death rate overall, for those infected (CDC)

15% percent death rate for those in serious condition receiving hospital care

23.3% or more percent of the infected, likely to end up in the hospital.

23.3 percent of 83% of a population is....

20% or more of any given population that will need to be in the hospital.

There are only 2.4 hospital beds per 1000 people in the United States. (SOURCE)

That's 0.24 hospital beds per 100 people,

BUT 20 out of 100 people in need of intensive care

Hopefully they wont all get it at the same time, otherwise..

..only 1 in 29 people in serious condition will receive proper medical care

And the less medical care they get, the higher the death rate climbs. Those without supportive medical care have a death rate of 65%
Finally, and this is the worst thing I have ever had to report, in Linear Projections, "Time 2" is best predicted by "Time 1"
We are in early February and China, which is about 1 month into its outbreak, has 56 Million people in 19 cities under Quarantine.
China (Time 1) is about 1 month ahead of the USA (Time 2) in its situation.
So one month from now in the USA (Time 2), we can expect similar or worse situation in the USA than China (Time 1) has right now.
Are YOU ready to be Quarantined? Do you have Emergency food to feed yourself and family for the 6 weeks such a Quarantine might last?
Do YOU have emergency water stored to provide 1 gallon per person, per day for people in your house?
Do YOU have a Filter mask and Goggles and Rubber gloves to TRY to avoid becoming infected when you go out?
You have until about THIS FRIDAY to prepare and hope to survive.

NOW, THE BAD NEWS . . .

Alright... math time...based on current numbers

NOW, THE BAD NEWS . . .

I read a book a while back about the 1918 Spanish influenza; these photos remind me of the descriptions in that book of how young, healthy and strong people would literally fall dead in the street. Someone would be totally fine and 12 hours later dead. It hit the healthy hardest because it turned the strong immune system against the body.

Doctor who sounded alarm on coronavirus dies
By Alexandria Hein
Published 1 hour ago

FOX News

BEIJING - Li Wenliang, a doctor in China who was allegedly detained for warning others about the coronavirus before he himself was sickened by the illness, has died. His death was confirmed during a World Health Organization (WHO) press briefing on Thursday.

"We're very sad to hear of the loss of Dr. Li Wenliang," WHO officials said, before adding that it was too soon to say whether the outbreak was reaching a peak.

Li, who according to the BBC was a 34-year-old ophthalmologist at Wuhan Central Hospital, had claimed that in late December he shared his concerns via private chat with medical school graduates after several patients exhibited symptoms similar to SARS before he was visited and warned by authorities.

He was then summoned to Public Security Bureau where he was forced to sign a letter stating that he made false comments about the virus, the BBC reported. Authorities later apologized.

Shortly after, he began coughing and developed a fever that landed him in the hospital for several days. On Jan. 30, he tested positive for the virus.

News of his Feb. 6 death first began circulating Thursday on social media and health blogs in China. It is not known if Li had any underlying health complications that may have impacted the severity of his illness.

The novel coronavirus has sickened more than 28,000 worldwide and resulted in at least 563 deaths. About 99 percent of cases have occurred in mainland China, although two deaths have been reported outside the country including in the Philippines and Hong Kong.

Exiled Chinese Billionaire Claims 1.5 Million Infected With Coronavirus, 50,000 Dead

by Tyler Durden
Sun, 02/09/2020 - 13:10

Summary:
  • Virus death toll surpasses SARS (total: 813)
  • Exiled Chinese billionaire says true death toll closer to 50k, 1.5 million infected
  • New cases confirmed in UK, Spain, Singapore
  • Passengers aboard 'Diamond Princess' warn authorities aren't doing enough to protect them - and others
  • Officials in Shenzen say they won't block Foxxconn factory reopening
  • Cruise ship quarantined in Hong Kong allowed to leave after 4 days

Update (1300ET): A lot of epidemiologists and 'citizen journalists' have been throwing out numbers that they believe to be the true accurate counts of the number of people infected with the Wuhan coronavirus in China, as well as the true death toll.

But exiled Chinese billionaire Guo Wengui said Sunday, citing leaked information out of Wuhan, that the death toll could be as high as 50,000, as Chinese officials burn bodies to cover up the true extent of the crisis.

This isn't the first time we've heard about the regime burning bodies, rather, it's one of those 'conspiracy theories' that grows more credible every day.

One reporter from the Epoch Times shared this map earlier showing the sulfur dioxide content in the air spiking over Wuhan.

Wengui also said he has information showing 1.5 million confirmed coronavirus cases in China. To be sure, this would contradict the theory that the ~3,000 or so new cases confirmed every day in China reflects restrictions on the supply of tests.

50,000 deaths would be an incredible thing to cover up...but then again, this outbreak is the without a doubt the greatest crisis of cinfidence faced by the regime since the June 4th incident back in 1989.

Last night, we reported that Chengdu had been placed under strict lockdown, adding another 14.4 million Chinese to the 400 million+ already living under virtual house arrest across the country as Beijing struggles to contain the coronavirus outbreak that has already claimed more lives than SARS did during its nearly year-long run.

And as fears about the economic fallout from the outbreak grow, the government in Shenzen, a city that has been on lockdown for a couple of days, reportedly denied rumors that it would prevent Foxconn from re-opening local factories. In a transparent to boost confidence in China's frozen manufacturing sector, local officials said the factor would reopen asap after inspections had finished.
The local government of the city of Shenzhen in southeastern China said on Sunday it had not blocked plans by Apple supplier Foxconn to resume production, adding that the company would restart once inspections were completed$AAPL

CNBC's Eunice Yoon, a reporter who has doggedly covered the outbreak from Beijing, warned that factories won't go back online across the country tomorrow, as Chinese officials had said. Instead, she expects the switch back to work would be gradual and depend largely on the whims of local officials. Only minutes ago, Chinese state media reported that the first workers would return to factories in 'batches'.

Still, whether the Chinese economy can avoid the crash predicted by JPM remains unclear.

In other news, one reporter from the Epoch Times, a newspaper that has assiduously covered the virus despite threats from the mainland government, said she believed based upon her research that the virus might be artificial, a question that others have raised.

Expanding on the death toll we reported last night, local officials confirmed 89 new deaths from the virus on Saturday, a number that many suspect might be wildly underrated following additional reports of Beijing cremating bodies that haven't yet been counted in the local statistics. Still, 89 is up from 86 fatalities on Friday, according to figures released early on Sunday by the country’s health authority, per the SCMP.

Beijing also touted the fact that the number of new cases dropped on Saturday. Newly confirmed coronavirus cases in the mainland rose by 2,656 on Saturday, down from 3,385 new cases on Friday, according to China’s National Health Commission. The total number of mainland cases now stands at 37,198, plus an additional ~350 confirmed cases outside China. A local party chief in Wuhan has called on local health officials to finish testing all suspected cases in the city (remember, the government rounded them all up a few days ago) within two days, before the people riot and Beijing sends in the tanks.

Britain and Spain on Sunday confirmed a new coronavirus case, bringing the total cases in the UK to four, while Spain now has two. In the UK, the infected person was a "known contact of a previously confirmed U.K. case" (who allegedly contracted the virus in a French ski chateau). The case in Spain is a British man who lives on Majorca. 6 new cases were confirmed on the cruise ship in Japan (we'll get into more on that later), while authorities in Hong Kong ended the four-day quarantine of another ship after finding no evidence of infections among its 3,600 passengers and crew, per NYT.

New cases were also confirmed in Singapore (three new cases), while a new study published by Kyodo News found that half of all new infections occur within the virus's incubation period, bolstering theories that it spreads "silently" - ie before infected patients display symptoms.

At least one of every two instances of human-to-human transmission of the new coronavirus is believed to occur while the first patient is not yet showing symptoms, according to an estimate by a group of Japanese university researchers.
Based on its determination, the team, headed by Hokkaido University professor Hiroshi Nishiura, has called for preventive measures as well as reinforcing the medical care system against a potential sharp rise in coronavirus patients, rather than focusing exclusively on isolation as a way to contain the disease.
According to the estimate based on 26 human-to-human infection cases released by six countries such as China, Thailand and the United States, the timing of the secondary infection was shorter than previously thought.
Elsewhere, the government is fighting back against the torrent of criticism unleashed by the death of Dr. Li by claiming that the disruption is the work of foreign state actors - a classic trope invoked by the Chinese government to whitewash its mistakes. The Global Times, a pro-Communist Party tabloid, accused "Hong Kong secessionists and foreign entities" of trying to provoke public discord in China by sensationalizing Dr. Li Wenliang's death (he succumbed to the virus late last week).

On Sunday morning, the NYT published one of the most extensive looks at life aboard the 'Diamond Princess', where more than 2,600 passengers (minus those who have tested positive and been taken to a hospital) are understandably going stir crazy while simultaneously being consumed by paranoia as they try to avoid a monster that can't be seen or heard.

So far, more than 70 passengers and crew have tested positive for the virus, making the ship host to the largest coronavirus outbreak outside China. Quarantining the ship was a coup for Japanese health authorities:they successfully prevented what probably would have been a brutal outbreak in Japan, a country where more than 20% of the population are elderly and/or ailing.

The NYT reporter makes it seem like she's talking to passengers directly, as if she were aboard the ship. But judging by the Dateline, the piece was reported entirely from Tokyo. Most of these conversations must have occurred via phone.

One passenger described keeping track of the number of cases by counting the ambulances that arrive to cart away the infected.

"Now we will start counting ambulances and know that’s the number being removed," said Sarah Arana, 52, a medical social worker from Paso Robles, Calif.
The same individual discussed strategies for limiting stress, since it weakens the immune system and makes one more vulnerable to infection.
"I know that stress and anxiety compromise my immune system," said Ms. Arana, who is on her first cruise. "My whole thing is just to stay calm, because no matter what, I’m here. But every day it’s anxiety-provoking when we see the ambulances line up on the side of the ship."
The quarantine of the Diamond Princess was imposed by Japanese health officials who learned that a man who had disembarked on Jan. 25 tested positive for the virus in Hong Kong.

Another passenger told the NYT that they didn't understand why authorities were only testing people with symptoms (aka fevers) or who had direct contact with the infected man.

"I do not now believe they are containing this epidemic by keeping us quarantined," said Gay Courter, 75, an American novelist and avid cruisegoer who was isolated in a cabin with her husband, Philip. "Something is wrong with the plan."
Some passengers speculate that the virus might be transmitted through the ship's ventilation system. Others worry it could be spread via the food. This is that kind of all-consuming paranoia, the kind that injects an element of terror into every daily interaction.

"Nobody can tell us for certain," said Ms. Courter. "There’s no scientific evidence this is not being spread through food handlers or the people delivering the food, even in rubber gloves."
Passengers have been speculating that the virus could be transmitted through the ship’s air ventilation system. Some shared their concerns with the United States Embassy in Tokyo.
One rumor that spread like wildfire across the ship claimed the US government was working to evacuate Americans aboard the cruise ship. So far, that has not happened. Some passengers with chronic health issues like diabetes are extremely worried about running out of medicine.

On Wednesday, Carol Montgomery, 67, a retired administrative assistant from San Clemente, Calif., had a low-grade fever. Her husband John, 68, a retired city planning director, was concerned about his diabetes, and about whether he should clean the air ventilator he uses every night for sleep apnea.
"We’re sitting inside this room and the number of cases is slowly rising," Mr. Montgomery said. "It’s just very disconcerting that we can’t get tested to figure out if we have it."
About as interesting as that NYT story is this piece by WSJ. It's a blatant piece of access journalism - the worst kind when you think about it since the reporters clearly got the green light from Communist Party officials - but the reporters found a way to outsmart censors and embed clues and hinted-at criticisms within the text.

The report recounts a cross country journey undertaken by Shen Wufu, a young businessman who was quarantined in the Chinese city of Shantou after picking up the virus during a multi-city journey. Authorities aren't certain where he picked up the virus, but he believes it was during a brief stop in Wuhan on Jan. 18, a time when government officials were still actively suppressing news about the outbreak (or so many suspect).

A map of his journey shows how the government's sluggish initial reaction to the virus placed millions in jeopardy. In reality, Shen isn't so different from the super-spreader we mentioned earlier, though the government might argue that they acted quickly enough to prevent this.

To be sure, the paper noted that Shen is "living proof that some Chinese countermeasures are working," like the fact that he was eventually quarantined thanks to a pair of quick-thinking local officials (who we imagine will be scapegoated for failing to suppress the virus at the orders of the leadership).

As it becomes increasingly clear that the outbreak is getting worse, not better, despite the supposed 'decline' in new cases (which is supposed to show that the state's heavy handed methods are working), the World Health Organization cautioned on Sunday against reading too much into those numbers, saying that Wuhan and Hubei remain in the middle of a "very serious outbreak."

Though we didn't need the New York Times to figure that out.

2 suspects in custody after entering Walmart and spreading 'coronavirus' substance

By Skye Malmberg, The Western Journal
Published February 8, 2020 at 3:38am

Two suspects were taken into custody Thursday after allegedly spraying a substance on thousands of dollars' worth of merchandise and claiming to have the coronavirus in an Illinois Walmart.

At about 4 p.m. on Sunday, the Joliet Police Department responded to a call from Walmart concerning the suspicious incident, according to a Facebook post.

One of the men seen on the store surveillance video was wearing a yellow medical mask and a homemade sign taped to his back that read, "CAUTION I have the CORONA VIRUS."

The suspect with the mask was seen spraying some kind of liquid on beauty products, health products, clothing and produce.

The substance was later identified to be Lysol spray. Walmart told the police that the store had to be professionally cleaned, and that tossing out the damaged produce would cost them about $7,300, while additional cleanup would cost about $2,400.

According to WLS-TV, other customers were told by the suspects that they were trying to help them.

Police told WBBM-TV that they don't believe anyone was actually exposed to the coronavirus.

On Friday, The Joliet Police Department issued a news release identifying Tyler D. Wallace, 19, as the suspect wearing the mask.

After reviewing the case with local detectives, the Will County States Attorney’s Office decided that there was enough probable cause to issue a complaint warrant for Wallace.

He turned himself in on Thursday and was subsequently arrested and booked in the Will County Jail on misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass to real property, disorderly conduct and retail theft. He appeared in court for a hearing Friday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The male accompanying Wallace, 17, was referred to the juvenile justice system on misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.

There have been two cases of coronavirus reported in the state of Illinois, and as of Thursday, 12 cases confirmed in the U.S.
According to The New York Times, over 31,000 people have been infected with the coronavirus worldwide, and 638 people have died from it as of Friday.

This isn't the first case of someone claiming to have the coronavirus in order to "prank" people.

According to Fox News, a passenger on a flight from Toronto to Jamaica was arrested after claiming that he had been infected with the coronavirus after a recent trip to China. The man reportedly said that it was just a prank.

“It’s not really good to be pranking people that way," Prokes said. Because of the severity of the situation, "people will be scared.”

Wallace is scheduled to appear in court for the second time on March 6. The 17-year-old is scheduled to appear in juvenile court on March 5.

“He was telling everyone the same thing, that he was protecting them from the virus,” customer Tony Prokes said.

Everything we know about the pangolin — the scaly mammal that may have spread the coronavirus to humans
Aria Bendix

Feb 9, 2020, 2:57 PM

As a deadly coronavirus spreads across China and ripples through other parts of the world, scientists are trying to pinpoint how humans first got exposed.

So far, they know the virus is zoonotic, meaning it jumps from animals to people. And genetic research has all but confirmed that it originated in bats. But scientists believe that another animal most likely served as the intermediary between bats and humans.

That animal could be the pangolin, a scaly, nocturnal mammal with a tongue longer than its body.

A group of researchers from South China Agricultural University found that samples from coronavirus patients were 99% identical to samples of the virus taken from wild pangolins, according to China's official Xinhua news agency. Their research hasn't been published or confirmed by other experts, but scientists say the results make sense, given what we know about the animals.

Pangolins are often poached for their keratin scales, which are used as ingredients in traditional Chinese medicine. Their meat is also considered a delicacy in China and Vietnam.

If bats drop feces or saliva onto food that's consumed by a pangolin, the animal can become a carrier of the coronavirus. Humans can then be exposed by consuming pangolins, allowing the virus to then be transmitted from person to person.

What we know about pangolins so far
Despite their forced interactions with humans, pangolins are mostly solitary in the wild. With the exception of one species, the long-tailed African pangolin, the animals spend most of the day sleeping in hollow trees or underground holes. At night, they hunt for insects such as ants and termites with their long, sticky tongues, which can stretch up to 16 inches.

Pangolins don't have teeth, but they rely on other features like their sharp claws to dig through insect mounds or strip away the bark from trees. They also have powerful tails that can support them when hanging upside down from branches.

A man with a pangolin at a wild-animal rescue center in Cuc Phuong, outside Hanoi, Vietnam, on September 12, 2016. Kham/Reuters

Pangolins meet up once a year to mate, but mothers abandon their young after about two years. As the animals get older, their soft, white scales begin to harden and grow darker. Scientists believe pangolins are the only scaled mammal.

When a predator approaches, the animals can curl themselves into a ball and tuck their faces underneath their tail to protect themselves. But those defense mechanisms are no match against poachers.

Pangolins are illegally traded for their meat and scales
Though a pangolin resembles an anteater or armadillo on the outside, it's actually more closely related to an order of mammals called "carnivorans," which include the bobcat and the civet. Civets were responsible for passing SARS from bats to people in 2002.

Both civets and pangolins are sold in Chinese wet markets, which put people in close contact with live and dead animals. It's not clear, though, whether pangolins were sold at the seafood market in Wuhan, China, where the new coronavirus most likely originated.

A worker waiting in a seafood stall in the Wanchai wet markets in Hong Kong. Isaac Lawrence/AFP/Getty

Multiple investigations have revealed that pangolins are still traded illegally, despite the practice being banned by the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species in 2016. In fact, they're often considered the world's most trafficked mammal — about 100,000 of them are plucked from the wild each year.

The China Biodiversity and Green Development Foundation, a Beijing-based nonprofit, found that more than 200 pharmaceutical companies still used pangolin products for about 60 commercially produced medicines.

All eight pangolin species are now threatened with extinction, and at least three species — including the Chinese pangolin — are listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

As a result, pangolin scales tend to fetch a high price: about $2,200 a pound in the US. But the animals still aren't widely recognized among the general population.

"That's one of the problems with species like pangolins," Annette Olsson, a technical adviser for Conservation International, told The New York Times in 2016. "It's not huge and not very charismatic. It's small and weird and just disappearing."

If pangolins do turn out to be the intermediary species for the new coronavirus, that could make it tough to determine how the animals passed the virus to humans.

"If the illegal animal trade was at the root of this outbreak, it is going to be really difficult to trace, and I suspect most of the evidence is gone already — destroyed or spread out across the black market," Benjamin Neuman, a virologist at Texas A&M University, told The Washington Post. "People aren't going to want to talk, because of the consequences."

Must be fake news. Coronavirus comes from outer space!

Coronavirus came from meteor which hit China last year, claims scientist

Nathan Rao
Express (UK)
Tue, 11 Feb 2020 09:41 UTC

Coronavirus was carried into the Earth's atmosphere on a fragment of comet which spewed out "hundreds of trillions" of viral particles. Medics fear the disease, which can be spread before victims show any symptoms, could spark a global pandemic. The emergence of the new strain of coronavirus is thought to be the result of panspermia - infective agents in space which eventually reach the Earth's atmosphere.

Scientists have long held that viruses, bacteria and strands of DNA exists in space carried on comets and meteorites.

They can drift into the Earth's stratosphere before falling to the surface of the planet posing a risk to human health, they say.

© Getty
The emergence of the novel coronavirus is thought to be the result of a specific meteorite hit recorded in China last autumn.

Professor Chandra Wickramasinghe, of the Buckingham Centre for Astrobiology, said:

"The sudden outbreak of a new coronavirus is very likely to have a space connection, the strong localisation of the virus within China is the most remarkable aspect of the disease. In October last year a fragment of a comet exploded in a brief flash in North East China. We think it probable that this contained embedded within it a monoculture of infective 2019-nCoV virus particles that survived in the interior of the incandescent meteor. We consider the seemingly outrageous possibility that hundreds of trillions of infective viral particles were then released embedded in the form of fine carbonaceous dust. We believe infectious agents are prevalent in space, carried on comets, and can fall towards Earth through the troposphere. These, we think, can and have in the past gone on to bring about human disease epidemics."

Comment: Wickramasinghe may be referring to this meteor fireball that lit up the sky in China on 11th October 2019.

Professor Wickramasinghe believes panspermia is a common route of viral and bacterial emergence on Earth.

While whole organisms can arrive, another route is via strands of DNA - the building blocks of life - which supercharge bugs already here.

The particles drift to the planet in a similar way before being taken up by often harmless germs turning them into killing machines.

Professor Wickramasinghe said:
"We believe this could have happened with the novel coronavirus. While it is likely it arrived as a new infective agent, there could be an element of mutation triggered by DNA arriving in a similar manner. We have evidence that even in the human genome, 40 per cent of our DNA is viral, and it has been incorporated during our evolution. There is growing evidence that says this DNA comes from space and it is carried into our atmosphere on micro-meteorites before dissipating. It is then taken up by bacteria and viruses. That new insert could have come from space. This disturbing outbreak is due to this, there is no doubt meteorites carry living structures."
The unusually virulent nature of the coronavirus could trigger a global pandemic, he warned.

He said:
"The pattern of further global spread of the new coronavirus is likely to follow a high level of person-to-person infectivity, the virus will then acquire endemic status."
