This report is seriously troubling. USA adversaries view EMP strikes as easy first attacks that will leave the USA defenseless. Read the full report in the link below, and then double check your preps for an extended USA disaster as many millions of unprepared loot or starve.

No it won't.

Yes, a massive emp over the Continental United States will likely be very bad. However, there are several subs with lots of nuclear strike capacity that would be unaffected by it. Once they know what's up, everything will launch. We might be emp'd, but every city in China over 1000 pop will look like downtown Hiroshima in mid August '45

Same goes for the US. Maybe if the US stopped trying to take over the world we wouldn't be in this mess. How is it we sent sent so many to die in SE Asia in the 60's (To stop the spread of communism) , then in the 90's we send all our manufacturing to China and make the communists rich.

Seems like our government is designed to get everything wrong and never fix a problem and create endless wars.

Yep, that's f'ed up, and I'd never advocate using those weapons first.
....but if they pull a sneak attack that cripples the nation, there'll be no choice but to retaliate. That's what havin' those subs out there, is for. Ie insurance against a sneak attack like that.

For China or Russia to launch a first strike on the US is suicidal. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but if it does, EMP is going to be the last of our worries.

I admire your certainty that we will retaliate against China. Some of us could be a little less sure about who we should turn into an ashtray in reprisal. Imagine an untracked sub surfaces off the USA east coast (or maybe it is just a freighter or fishing trawler or container ship) and fires a dozen missiles that trigger EMP devastation across the USA. Was that sub or ship controlled by China? or maybe Russia? or possibly North Korea? or even Iran? If we cannot quickly sort out all the possibilities, while the USA crashes and burns, maybe we will need to nuke all of them, just to be sure we get the right one. And whatever nations we retaliate against will see that as an attack, and will respond with their contingent of Mutually Assured Destruction weapons. On the plus side, the resulting world wide Nuclear Winter will put an end to global warming talk. Some problems do not have easy solutions.

And its the Dems lately that are crying RUSSIA< RUSSIA < RUSSIA. Hillary sells them the Uranium..... Then they take out all the major US cities that also happen to be democratic strongholds. :secret::2 thumbs up::funky::Helicopter:dduck::dduck:

Don't need an EMP. Hackers are in our grid from both China and Russia and can take it down whenever they like.
Of course, that doesn't take out off grid equipment, but enough to cause a major shock to the economy.

Newsflash, the current crop of nuclear weapons already produce a massive EMP upon detonation. Why would they bother reinventing the wheel...
Why completely destroy an engine when all you have to do leaving it useless to its owner is take away it's spark. Once you have possession of the engine you give it it's spark back

The levels of radiation that such a bomb would create are enough to kill millions. Granted that those with the finger on the button care little for collateral damage, even they will take notice when the casualties run into seven figures. They not only take away the spark, they'll take away the keys and the starter motor at the same time.

Will they? An emp blast happens high in the sky. Like 300 miles high. Is radiation from a blast 300 miles away, enough to kill millions? The really dangerous nuke detonations are those at ground level. Huge amounts of radioactive fallout with those.

If they built a nuke specifically for the purpose of having the maximum EMP blast and launched it over Kansas City high enough in the atmosphere it would cripple the USA and we would resort to cannibalism.

I just finished reading two good stories about life after an emp, they really make you think about how prepared you are and how bad things could get.

lights out: http://sf.arpnic.net/Lights_Out.pdf

one second after: https://epdf.tips/pdfviewer/web/viewer.html?file=https://epdf.tips/download/one-second-afterb57f885b34b4c266285e7e07d035da1197724.html?reader=1#page=5&zoom=auto,-108,223
Even though I am only half way through One Second After, I already recommended it to several friends. Great story, and an unforgettable way to see how bad things can be after an EMP.

A nuclear weapon detonated 300 miles above the surface of the earth will have negligible effect with respect to EMP emissions. Even something like the Tsar Bomba wouldn't have enough kick. The ionosphere and magnetosphere would mitigate most of the pulse, whereas if the EMP was from a coronal mass ejection, that's a different kettle of fish.

In the US, they're called Democrats

Pretty much

Sure about that? High altitudes is where one detonates them to get max emp effect. Starfish prime demonstrated that fact.

Types of military EMP include:

  • Nuclear electromagnetic pulse (NEMP), as a result of a nuclear explosion. A variant of this is the high altitude nuclear EMP (HEMP), which produces a secondary pulse due to particle interactions with the Earth's atmosphere and magnetic field.
That secondary pulse is why a high altitude blast will affect such a large area with its emp.
..,..and that's the kind they are proposing to attack us with.

They are detonated within the earths atmosphere (10-15 miles up), not at 300 miles.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_electromagnetic_pulse#Weapon_altitude

The pulse can easily span continent-sized areas, and this radiation can affect systems on land, sea, and air. ... A large device detonated at 400–500 km (250 to 312 miles) over Kansas would affect all of the continental U.S. The signal from such an event extends to the visual horizon as seen from the burst point.

They all will generate an emp, but if one desires to cripple the nation, a few (one East, one West, one dead center) high altitude bursts of sufficient yield would knock out virtually everything.

The lower altitude ones would be for regional areas.
