National Space Defense Center Goes Operational, 2066
The Still Report

Published on Feb 19, 2018
Good evening, I’m still reporting on: National Space Defense Center Goes Operational, 2066

Synopsis: Deep within the massive Schriever Air Force Base near Colorado Springs, CO, The National Space Defense Center is finally gone operational. Their mission? To keep American military and spy satellites safe while in orbit.
Vice President Mike Pence was photographed in the ultra-secret center which surveils space around planet Earth 24 hours a day with a staff of 230.
The Center's Director, Col. Todd Brost, told a Colorado Springs newspaper, The Gazette:
"This is not an Air Force unit. It's not really even a Department of Defense unit."
However, he did not say exactly to whom or what the unit belonged. Our best guess is it is a super-secret unit of the US Space Command - and ownership falls somewhere between the intelligence community and DOD.
"Now, you have an intelligence person sitting next to an (satellite) operator. That partnership with the intelligence community is crucial," said Col. Brost.
The center started spinning up in late 2015 as increasing threats arose from China, N. Korea, and Iran against the massive American space presence.
So secretive is the new unit, that airmen have long called it "Area 52".

The Army's Next High-Tech Assault Rifle Will Pack A Punch Like A Tank

by Tyler Durden
Thu, 03/01/2018 - 23:40

The United States Army is planning for decades of hybrid wars across multiple domains — space, cyberspace, air, land, and, maritime.

Back in October, we dissected the Army’s latest Training and Doctrine Command report, which highlights the next round of hybrid wars could start somewhere around 2025 and last through 2040.

Currently, the Army is in a transitional period before the next round of wars begin. In doing so, the Army has made it clear that it will replace its legacy M249 SAW and the M4 Carbine, with a lightweight and higher chamber pressure assault rifle.

It now appears the Army has selected a new high-tech assault rifle that can release a high rate of specialty designed bullets with as much chamber pressure as an M1A2 Abrams tank, to pierce through the world’s most advanced body armor.

The LSAT (Lightweight Small Arms Technologies) light machine gun is a powerful weapon produced by the AAI Corporation, an aerospace and defense development and manufacturing firm, located in Hunt Valley, Maryland. Textron acquired AAI in 2007 and currently operates as a unit of Textron Systems Corporation.

Textron provides more information about the LSAT light machine gun:

Col. Geoffrey A. Norman, force development division chief at Army HQ, told Task & Purpose, “the service plans on fielding a Next Generation Squad Automatic Rifle (NGSAR) — the first version in the Army’s Next-Generation Weapons System that chambers a round between 6.5mm and 6.8mm — as a potential replacement for its 80,000 M249 SAWs starting in fiscal 2022 rather than the original target date of fiscal 2025.”

Norman said the NGSAR will weigh less, shoot farther, and pack more punch than any the military’s existing small arms. More importantly, the colonel harped on the fact the chamber pressure of the weapon is far superior than any other light machine gun in the world, which means, a bullet from the machine gun can penetrate the most advanced body armor from around 600 meters. Norman hopes this high-tech weapon will be integrated into a fire team or squad “that fires a small bullet at the pressure equivalent to what a tank would fire.”

“The chamber pressure for the standard assault rifle is around 45 KSI [kilopound per square inch], but we’re looking for between 60 and 80 KSI … the chamber pressure when an M1 Abrams tank fires is on that order,” Norman told Task & Purpose. “We’re looking to reach out around 600 meters and have lethal effects even if the target is protected by body armor.”

Norman told Task & Purpose that the new lightweight machine gun is in trial tests by the Soldier Lethality Cross-Functional Team at Fort Benning, Georgia. Soldiers are testing the advanced weapon with a 7.62mm XM11158 Advanced Armor Piercing (ADVAP) round. The army is split between the 5.56mm and 7.62mm round but wants to find a happy medium between both.

“The challenge of the 5.56mm is that it doesn’t have enough mass [to defeat enemy body armor],” Norman said, referring to Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley’s April 2017 testimony before lawmakers on the Army’s growing ammo problem.

“But the challenge with 7.62mm ammo is that it has too much mass and not enough propellant. The right solution is somewhere between the two, where you have enough mass to penetrate but you’re still moving fast enough,” he added.

Task & Purpose says the Army has spent a great deal of time searching for the next generation of assault rifles:

But the real heart of the NGSW program is the fire control system, developed independently from the receiver and chamber. While the Army has spent years evaluating off-the-shelf options for soldiers’ next assault rifle — see the Interim Combat Service Rifle program aborted in November due to weight concerns rather than budget jousting — Norman characterized the proprietary fire-control system as a miniaturized version of the systems utilized by ground vehicles and aviation platforms.

“We’re exploring several options to ensure that what the gun aims at, it actually hits,” Norman said. “The system will adjust and potentially only fire when the muzzle will line up with its target. It will take into account atmospheric conditions, even automatically center the weapon using an internal system. We’re looking to get these capabilities ready as soon as possible.”

Task & Purpose further states the hard release of the light machine gun is in 2022:

The Army’s hard target of a 2022 fielding may seem ambitious, especially given the maddeningly batshit nature of defense acquisition. But the service isn’t the only one putting the NGSW in the crosshairs: According to Norman, the Corps is also interested in adopting the NGSAR alongside the M27 and M1101 CSASS sniper rifle the Army has eyed in recent years. And with the campaign against ISIS in close-quarters environs like Iraq and Syria winding down, soldiers and infantry Marines could use the range and the punch of the system sooner rather than later.

“We’ve got support from Congress and the Secretary of Defense as part of our close combat strategic portfolio review,” Norman told Task & Purpose. “We’re not going to replace all 80,000 SAWs right away — but the intent is to get this AR variant out to infantry squads as soon as possible.”

ARMY'S NEXT-GENERATION ASSAULT RIFLE WILL PACK A PUNCH LIKE A TANK'S MAIN GUN || WARTHOG 2018
Warthog Defense

Published on Mar 3, 2018
The Army says its new assault rifle will fire with as much chamber pressure as a tank (60-80 KSI) and be able to tear through even the most advanced body armor.

The Next Generation Squad Automatic Rifle will fire a 6.5mm to 6.8mm round and possibly replace the M249 SAW in 2022, not 2025 as originally expected.

The new weapon will also possibly have a range of 600 yards.

RUSSIA HAS A 2,000 STRONG 'DELTA FORCE' THAT IS READY FOR WAR || WARTHOG 2018
Warthog Defense

Published on Mar 4, 2018
Nonetheless, the 2000-man strong KSSO—which perhaps bears more than a passing resemblance to Delta’s parent command JSOC—is still a work in progress and Russia continues to build up its capabilities. The unit is part of a much larger community of special designation forces in Russia, known as Spetsnaz, and special operations outfits that belong to intelligence agencies like the FSB. According Kofman, Spetsnaz units exist among Russia's land forces, naval infantry, and airborne brigades, with a community that is likely 9,000-10,500 men strong.

SAGE System Training Program ~ 1962 System Development Corp.; Cold War Nuclear Bomber Tracking
Jeff Quitney

Published on Mar 6, 2018
USAF Training Film playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...

more at http://quickfound.net

Training film for the SAGE (Semi-Automatic Ground Environment), a heavily computerized early warning system designed to guard against enemy aircraft.

Originally a public domain film, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and one-pass brightness-contrast-color correction & mild video noise reduction applied.
The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AN/FSQ-...
Wikipedia license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b...

The AN/FSQ-7 Combat Direction Central (colloq. Q7) was a computerized command and control system for Cold War ground-controlled interception used in the USAF Semi-Automatic Ground Environment (SAGE) air defense network. The largest computer system ever built, each of the 24 installed machines weighed 250 tons and had two computers. The AN/FSQ-7 used a total of 60,000 vacuum tubes (49,000 in the computers) and up to 3 megawatts of electricity, performing about 75,000 instructions per second for networking regional radars...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semi-Au...

The Semi-Automatic Ground Environment (SAGE) was a system of large computers and associated networking equipment that coordinated data from many radar sites and processed it to produce a single unified image of the airspace over a wide area. SAGE directed and controlled the NORAD response to a Soviet air attack, operating in this role from the late 1950s into the 1980s. Its enormous computers and huge displays remain a part of cold war lore, and a common prop in movies such as Dr. Strangelove and Colossus.

The processing power behind SAGE was supplied by the largest computer ever built, the AN/FSQ-7. Each SAGE Direction Center (DC) housed an FSQ-7 which occupied an entire floor, approximately 22,000 square feet, of the massive concrete blockhouse, not including supporting equipment. The upper two floors contained offices, operator stations, and a single two-story radar display visible to most of the DC's personnel. Information was fed to the DC's from a network of radar stations as well as readiness information from various defence sites. The computers, based on the raw radar data, developed "tracks" for the reported targets, and automatically calculated which defences were within range. Subsets of the data were then sent to the many operator consoles, where the operators used light guns to select targets onscreen for further information, select one of the available defences, and issue commands to attack. These commands would then be automatically sent to the defence site via teleprinter. Later additions to the system allowed SAGE's tracking data to be sent directly to CIM-10 Bomarc missiles and some of the US Air Force's interceptor aircraft in-flight, directly updating their autopilots to maintain an intercept course without operator intervention. Each SAGE DC also forwarded data to a Combat Center (CC) for "supervision of the several sectors within the division" ("each combat center [had] the capability to coordinate defense for the whole nation"). Connecting the various sites was an enormous network of telephones, modems and teleprinters.

SAGE became operational in the late 1950s and early 1960s at a combined cost of billions of dollars. It was noted that the deployment cost more than the Manhattan Project, which it was, in a way, defending against. Throughout its development there were continual questions about its real ability to deal with large attacks, and several tests by Strategic Air Command bombers suggested the system was "leaky". Nevertheless, SAGE was the backbone of NORAD's air defence system into the 1980s, by which time the tube-based FSQ-7's were increasingly costly to maintain and completely outdated. Today the same command and control task is carried out by microcomputers, based on the same basic underlying data...

Advanced Mortar System (AMOS) - Twin Barrel 120mm Mortar
Matsimus

Published on Mar 8, 2018
AMOS or Advanced Mortar System is a 120 mm automatic twin barreled, breech loaded mortar turret. AMOS has been fitted to a wide range of armoured vehicles, such as the Sisu Pasi, Patria AMV and Combat Vehicle 90. The Swedish Navy originally planned to fit AMOS to the CB90 assault craft, but found that it was too small to carry it. Instead, a project to develop the larger Combat Boat 2010 was launched specifically to carry AMOS.

Hope you enjoy!!

New L85A3 SA80 Rifle - British Army Upgrades
Matsimus

Published on Mar 11, 2018
The L85A3 is a further upgraded variant of the L85A2 assault rifle, which is currently a standard-issue infantry weapon with the British Forces. It looks like it was developed as a part of future soldier program. A prototype of the L85A3 was first publicly revealed in 2016. It is a proposed upgrade for existing L85A2 rifles. The main goal was to extend service life of this weapon until 2025 and beyond. Despite all shortcomings of the L85 design, the British Forces are still using these weapons. The L85A3 is a gas-operated, selective-fire weapon with a bullpup layout. The main advantage of the such layout is the overall compactness of the weapon. This assault rifle is chambered for the standard NATO 5.56x45 mm round. Internally this weapon is generally similar to the US Armalite AR-18. It follows the lines of the L85A2, but has some changes. The L85A3 has got a redesigned upper receiver and some other changes. A fire mode selector is located well behind the magazine, on the left side of the receiver. It has settings for "semi-auto" and "full-auto". A separate safety button is located above the trigger. Though the L85A3 is not ambidextrous. Extraction is only to the right side. This assault rifle is fed from a 30-round capacity magazines. A prototype of the L85A3, that was revealed in 2016, was fitted with a polymer magazine, developed by Magpul. These magazines were purchased as an urgent operational requirement for operations in Afghanistan. The magazine has a clear round counting window. This handy feature allows to see how much rounds are left in the magazine. This assault rifle is also compatible with other magazines, developed for the L85A2, including two types of steel magazines, used by the British Forces. The new upper receiver comes with a full-length Picatinny type scope rail. It comes with new 4x magnification scope. The L85A3 can also mount various red dot or night vision sights. Also there are simple iron sights for emergency use. There is a tendency in with the British Forces, that second-line troops are issued with weapons that have only simple iron sights, without the scope. Range of effective fire is around 500 meters using the scope. Also the L85A3 has got a new foregrip with accessory rails. It can mount various add-ons, such as vertical foregrip, tactical flashlight or laser pointer. The new weapon is compatible with German HK AG36 40 mm underbarrel grenade launcher. It was adopted by the British Forces as the L123A2. The same grenade launcher is used on the L85A2 assault rifle.

The British army Grenadier Guards announced on their Facebook that they have the L85A3 now in service!!!

Hope you enjoy!!

THESE ARE THE WORST PLACES TO BE STATIONED FOR EVERY BRANCH OF THE US MILITARY || WARTHOG 2018
Warthog Defense

Published on Mar 12, 2018
Every branch of the service has that place their soldiers, sailors, airmen, Coast Guardsmen, and Marines just dream of getting orders for.

That place could be anywhere that might appeal to an individual … maybe they love the cultural experience of being in Europe, or they enjoy the sun in Hawaii, or maybe they're just away from their hometown.

These aren't those places.
