The cover on the left is fake...it's a doctored cover from 2007. That said there were "scientists" whining about alleged worldwide cooling in the 1970s.

This is from an April 1975 issue of Newsweek:

The narrative did flip flop over the years...though the weather activists are quick to deny it and have been working diligently to eradicate incriminating evidence. It's also why, imo, the mainstream narrative has gone from global cooling to global warming to climate change...as only a fool would deny that weather exists. Thus they cannot now be proven wrong.

I think they were pushing global cooling in the early 1990's too.
I don't recall it from the 90s. Thing is, a lot of graphs used to support human caused climate change stop at 1880. A lot of the graphs refuting human cause climate change stop around 1998. Both sides are cherrypicking information that conforms with their agenda. It shouldn't be that way....but it is.

I agree, except for climate cooling B.S. in the early 1990's. I remember it because it was so out of context to the warming agenda.

Such was the narrative from the painfully stupid movie "the day after tomorrow"(2004). Where allegedly "global warming" actually causes "global cooling". It was all wrong...as usual of course.

1640958592675.png

Here's a Forbes article from 2013 talking about "global cooling" being the alleged threat...not "global warming".

Bottom line is that weather hasn't been banned yet and that so called "scientists" are wrong and/or are just as prone to lying as anyone else. If someone is suggesting you hand over your rights in exchange for alleged security...you should be very skeptical.

The sad part is that today’s “scientists” are living off the enormous amount of respect and good will hard won by yesterday’s scientists, from decades of discipline and adherence to the ethics of science, back in the day. When scientists actually gave a damn about reality, logic, reason and truth in their profession. Now, it’s all about socio-political agendas and who gives them more money.

Well said. That's precisely what pisses me off about so called "science" today. It's often not independently verifiable and/or challenges based on facts are not tolerated. I believe this process of subverting and destroying scientific methodology began roughly a century ago.

At this point, so called "science" is often sourced at captured universities that are bribed with federal funding. The product of said "research" is steered in precisely the direction fed dot gov wishes. The propaganda posing as "science" can then even be "peer reviewed" and still bear no resemblance to fact...due to political pressure that can be brought to bear on dissenting voices to jeopardize careers.

Science was hijacked by politics long ago. It's now a shell of its former self and many people are rejecting 'the science' now more than ever before

The theory is that warming will dump gazillions of cubic miles of fresh water into the oceans and disrupt the thermohaline conveyor belt (gulf stream type currents). If that happens, the earth could plunge into deep freezes closer to the poles...places like N Europe would no longer have the warmer water to keep their climate temperate, and they would become more like Siberia during the Winter season. Seems to be a plausible theory and there is evidence that it has happened in the past.

I mean, it's a pretty plausible theory. Without the Gulf Stream bringing gigatons of warm water to N Europe, their climate will change...especially in the Winter.
Absolutely, the saltier water in the gulf stream is dense and sinks near Eurpoe as it cools, keeping the loop going. A bunch of fresh water from Greenland could slow or stop that.

While not impossible, the theory generally requires the masses to fail to recognize that both ice and water have the same displacement. Just melting ice that was already afloat does not raise ocean levels. Now if ice currently on land got gone quickly without replacing it...then yeah that'd be a problem.

This is why the fear mongers perpetually cherry pick data. "ZOMG there's so much ice melt at xyz cooridinates! We're all going to drown!". ...meanwhile there's new ice being created elsewhere that more than offsets the melting ice they wish everyone to focus upon...yet they somehow fail to mention that.

No, we are talking about ice melting over Greenland.

You're the only one, to my knowledge, that specifically mentioned Greenland in this thread, and I was replying to crensh when you did so. It's not my intent to suggest all this stuff is impossible, but merely to suggest that it's constantly pushed as an "emergency" and often done so with predictions that turn out to be wrong each time. That is, after all, what the "Day after Tomorrow " was...yet another failed prediction.

It also marked the beginning, imo, of the narrative becoming less specific. From "global cooling", to "global warming", to climate change(which means weather). I mean, if you're going to make predictions that are wrong all the time...then for godsake make them unspecific. lol Nobody would be foolish enough to assert that climate change(weather) isn't a thing.

Do green house gas emissions cause weather pattern changes? I dunno, and I haven't seen any science to convince me that it does...or that cow farts are destroying the planet.

Israel has, meanwhile, on Friday, begun delivering a fourth vaccine dose for people most vulnerable to coronavirus, becoming one of the first countries to do so as it prepares for a wave of infections driven by the omicron variant.

Israel, which led a world-beating vaccination program in 2020, will administer a fourth dose of the vaccine to individuals with weakened immune systems along with elderly residents and employees in care homes.

The message is very clear. More "vaccines" = more creepy variants and more illness.

All weather on the planet is caused by differential heating. The land warms (and cools) faster than the oceans, this differential heating sets up convective air currents that then cause the climate. When you trap the "heat" over the planet via greenhouse gasses, it's going to cause changes in the climate. I spent 16 years as a meteorologist for the USAF - I resisted the idea that we were changing the climate, but the level of pollution places like China and India are dumping into the environment IS astounding and DOES have impacts. However, the climate alarmists don't take solar output into consideration because they want to push a political agenda. It's complicated!

Something else the climate alarmists don’t seem to take into consideration is that China and India pump a helluva lot more pollution and greenhouse gasses into the environment than the more advanced Western countries, but they seem to want to punish and tax the Western countries only, because there’s more wealth to suck out of The West. Everybody contributes to all the problems, but we get blamed for all the evil and are singled out to pay for it.

Though I have to say that I also suspect the temperature record has been altered for the past 50 years to ensure a seeming rise in global temps. I do think its warmer in the Winter than it was when I was a kid...but it also has not been as hot in the summer either. I remember months of 100+ temps when I was a kid growing up here in FL...have not seen that in a long time here.

Same here. Winter's in Chicago when I was a kid were really cold. I remember snowfalls where the shoveled snow was piled high between the sidewalk and the street with little paths cut to the street to access the car. 2 ft, maybe 3? Of course I was a wee lad so 2ft may have seemed high?

But all it really says is that "Yes, the climate does change over time!" but it doesn't mean the end of the world is just around the corner either, because 'the climate' changes!

And despite all the fake evidence to the contrary, it's been going on for eons.

This narrative shift in the last couple weeks has been pretty profound...it is like they see 2022 mid-terms as being a bloodbath for the Dems...and are worried about the 2024 POTUS election.
They will be worrying soon about where they can hide. As far as I'm concerned everybody from mini mengele to the script readers on teevee, all equally guilty of mass murder. Prison is too good for these animals.
