I just wish those *+@)^#$&&s would show a little more respect for our first family.

Melania Trump visits Home for Abused Girls in Palm Beach

First lady Melania Trump made an unheralded trip Friday to brighten the lives of girls at a group home for victims of abuse and domestic violence victims.

While President Donald Trump used the first day of his Easter vacation to go to Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, the first lady visited HomeSafe in Palm Beach, which houses girls removed for their safety by the courts.

Some on social media noted that amid calls for the first lady to adopt a cause, she received little media coverage for reaching out to abused children.

Melania Trump arrived at the shelter around 10:15 a.m. and spoke with a group of girls between the ages of 12-17 for 45 minutes.

“This is a day that the girls will never forget,” said Matthew Ladika, HomeSafe’s chief executive officer.

“It was extra special and touching,” Ladika said. “She asked them what their interests are.”

The first lady had gifts for the girls.

She also shared Easter baskets and stuffed bunnies with others living at the shelter.

Trump has, in the past, sought to remind Americans of their blessings.

“There remains far more brutal and terrifying incarnations of actual gender persecution which we must face together, such as forced enslavement, sexual abuse and absolute repression of far too many women and girls around the globe. We must remember these women in our daily prayers and use our combined resources to help free them from such unthinkable and inhumane circumstances,” she said.

In an April ceremony honoring women, the first lady said, “Together, we must declare that the era of allowing the brutality against women and children is over while affirming that the time for empowering women around the world is now.”

The president and first lady are spending the weekend at Mar-A-Lago along with the couple’s son, Barron, and several of Trump’s adult children including Tiffany, Eric and Donald Trump, Jr.

Trump and his family are expected to attend to attend Easter service at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea, where the president and first lady were married in 2005 and where they attended Christmas service.

Not reported on MSM, but found it here:

It is nice that in between the multimillion dollar taxpayer funded trips she finds the time to do lip service for those in need. Truly an inspiration.

I cringe at the thought of her representing us. I'd rather have Amy Schumer lol.

Who gives a rats ass who the first lady is visiting? It's all window dressing, like every other first lady does. Report on something juicy, like when Shillary gets shackled in irons. Now THAT'S a story!

I suppose if she was doing this sort of altruistic work for the past 5 or 10 years one might say "Well done" but the reality she probably hasn't given the girls a though as she lived her life getting preenings at upmarket salons, shopping in expensive stores and hobnobbing at elite parties. The shoes she wore to the shelter were probably worth more than all the gifts she brought. I don't mean to sound like I'm denigrating her efforts... Yes I Do! Screw these rich people who bend over to once in a while to "bless" us with their presence, mingling with the little people to gain political points or assuage their own guilt. Stay in your ivory towers I say, leave us to live our lives in peace.

She grew up in a less fortunate country, so I think that might be a factor in her favor. She must know it sucks to be poor.

Good rant. She won the lottery and got a very easy position in this life. If she uses her luck to do good, is that despicable?

I may be mistaken, but I believe the point of the OP is intended to contrast all of the fawning media coverage provided to her predecessor michelle and her similarly pseudo-altruistic excursions.

The fact that MSM chose not to cover the story; is the story.

Perhaps that's why Donald married her? Not because of her looks, but because she is such a humanitarian.

Ok, ok, now lets just suppose that the hillery had won the election and went on Easter vacation and first lady Bill went to visit a Home for Abused Girls in Palm Beach. What kind of lip service, ass, and altruistic work would we be seeing reported then?

I would not care. We are talking about the publicity of the First Lady. A very big non issue. A sideshow.

And I would say the exact same thing about bill as I do the First Lady.

This IS the point of the OP:

The FACT that MSM only publishes/propagates "news" that suits the agenda of their own handlers.

IMO, it only proves that POTUS Trump and his wife have yet to be accepted by the swamp-masters.

Well he has basically told the mass media to go to hell on several occasions, and she herself chose not to join him in the White house and lead a less public life in NY, so this news story of her being ignored should be of no surprise to anyone?

As to him being accepted by the swamp-masters, well the whole belief structure among most of those that voted for him here, was that he wouldn't, and would in fact drain the swamp and reverse the course America has taken for the past several decades. Many still believe that will be the case, but I can't help noticing from posts down in the politics forum a many are now disenchanted and speaking against him.

OK, so when you start seeing Melania in the headlines for her philanthropic work, you will know that all the cement intended for the wall has instead been diverted to plug the swamp drain hole.

Probably as you say. History never repeats but it rhymes, over and over and over

Any chance Melania prefers a low profile unlike her predecessor who was widely criticized for her very public "get students active" or "change the "lunch program" stuff Michelle was so criticized for? Really got sick of seeing her on "morning shows on MSM" getting "active" with overweight children of color.
