Jarred or canned mushrooms last forever... and bring as much protein as meat into a pasta sauce... and taste good - so if you find a deal, it really improves those sauces you already have...

Just an FYI... yes, not the same amount of protein vs weight, but you can eat 8x as many mushrooms as beef to get the same amount of protein

Since covid ruined the Greek festival 2 years in a row we are doing our own again this year. We got 10 people coming and all dishes have to be greek. I just finished my Baklava and am working on my Spanakopita/spinach pie.

Ill take some pics tomorrow. Lots and lots of greek dishes. I am making something called saganaki. Its flaming greek cheese with pita bread. I was testing out my flammable alcohols and got a little over enthusiastic. I Lost some hair and a bit of eyebrow. Cooking with fire is fun!

My late Uncle was Greek, 1st gen. We were invited to his parent‘s for Sunday dinner once and I will never forget it. His Mother’s sister was visiting from Greece and didn’t speak any English but boy could she cook! I remember her rolling out the dough for the baklava with a broomstick!

Greeks tend to over feed people. Running out of food when giving a party would be a traumatic event for most of us. My Mom used to do all the parties and they are labor intensive. I only make Baklava it is actually fairly easy to make. Most greek restaurants do american version of food. You have to cook ti yourself to get authentic.

Its just one eyebrow. The worst part is there were witnesses telling me not to do it . Now I got to listen to them say "I told you so". But, I think I have it down. Im trying again today with a bit more caution. :)

LOL, Misty... this is the same hospital crew that participated in secret potluck suppers in the middle of strict lockdown. We had clandestine dinners of more than 10 people. All of us worked the covid floor so what the heck, why not? This is also the crew you do not want to set yourself of fire while cooking in front of. They are some sarcastic, smart asses. I'm glad I got the fire stuff over with the day before.
