I wish I could remember where I read or heard it but I distinctly remember there being some talk or a study about incorporating Chinese bullion coins into the modern survival kits for use in areas like South America, the Mideast and Africa; not to mention the more obvious South East Asian theaters.

:bombing aircraft

I guess those gold Pandas will have to go into the survival kits slabbed by PCGS or NGC otherwise the locals will probably think they're fakes. cool:

I lost the stash, the boat, the pier and the lake.

...Better than BOND, James Bond...

He is in the ranks of Stallone and Schwarzenegger. Makes a fortune in GUN MOVIES. Yet he is an Anti-2nd supporter.
I do watch the Bourne movies he is not in.

pilots were sent out with a sealed pack,
that sealed pak had 5 gold coins in it along with some rings,

it was for survival to bribe their way to safety and extraction

fyi, a version of it belongs in any bug out bag

Interesting. I can't make out all the coins but it appears that ones were chosen which would be recognized by the enemy - I guess to make it more likely that they would be useful to the individual holding them.

Hard to tell on that grainy poor pic, but looks like 1-2 British Sovs, 2 Italian 20 Franc Napoleons, a 20 Franc Helvetica and a couple 10k gold rings.

Are current pilots given a comparable survival kit ? For what it’s worth, gold was $34 an ounce in 1942 thanks to tyrant FDR that removed the gold standard.

if i thought i might need something barterable while traveling...i would have a/some gold chains made with each link having a known amount of gold in it and double ended snap clasps so i could remove one link at a time if needed for barter......i can see issues with gold coinage at airports but jewelry would be easier to pass with...even could put small coins in the jewelry

YEP!

prior to NOW on too many foreign cruises - I always carried "20 Gold sovereigns" in a zippered type fiat dollar belt . Especially after 2007. For some reason? Guess I learned from the Vietnamese when they were under pressure from TPTB.

Living in Wisconsin I always felt like it made sense to have some gold MLs.

A Rolex or two might also be quite handy.

WISCONSIN Love the cheese & that Brule River - and those old Indian Canoes down the mild rapids...

And those old 10,000 sq. foot 1900s rich folks cabins like the U.S. Presidents stayed at!
