Hurricane Hector continues its march south of the state, pushing up surf and contributing to wet weather in some spots.

At 11 a.m. Thursday, the storm was still a major Category 3 storm, packing maximum sustained winds near 120 mph with higher gusts.

It was situated about 385 miles southwest of Honolulu, and was moving west near 16 mph.

On its current track, Hector is churns west and poses no significant threat to the main Hawaiian Islands. It's expected to pass about 100 to 200 miles north of Johnston Island late Friday.

To get better balance, power, agility and overall fitness, kickboxing is king among workouts. Experts who have studied the sport say nearly everyone can benefit from throwing a punch or a kick

Unlike most other types of exercise, kickboxing emphasizes powerful movements. Power is different from strength, where pure strength is what a weightlifter uses, but producing power is about both force and speed.

Cardio Kickboxing training tends to involve shorts bouts of intense, repetitive movement—like hitting a punching bag over and over again and kicking and kneeing.

Research shows that high-intensity interval training (HIIT), where you do these short, intense periods of activity, can have BIG benefits. Some research shows that even just 60 seconds of HIIT can offer the same gains in heart and lung health as 45 minutes of less-intense exercise.

The Mental Health Benefits of Probiotics (How the Gut Affects the Brain) - Thomas DeLauer


We are outnumbered by foreign invaders in our bodies. Alright, they're not really foreign invaders. In fact, they're very welcomed guests. What I'm talking about is our gut bacteria. I'm talking about the bacteria that has a symbiotic relationship with us that lives inside our guts.

In fact, here's what's kind of interesting. It used to be believed that we had approximately 100 trillion bacteria in our bodies versus 10 trillion human cells. If you do the math on that, it's kinda scary. We have more of an external bacteria in our bodies than we do our own intrinsic human cells.

Now, further research has now proven that it's a little bit different than that. We have more like 40 trillion bacteria versus 20-30 trillion human cells. Still, we're outnumbered. Even with modern research, we see that we have more bacteria in our bodies than we do human cells. So why is it that we focus more on what is happening inherently with our bodies and what's happening in this system of cells, but we're not as concerned with what's happening with this wonderful symbiotic relationship of bacteria that's in our guts and in our bodies that dictates a lot of what happens in our bodies?

Well, it probably has something to do with the fact that it's newer science and it's just not out there yet. So the purpose of this video is to help you understand the relationship between the bacteria in your body and how your brain actually functions.

Now, I've done videos on what's called the gut-brain axis in the enteric nervous system before. Those are good videos to talk about how the gut actually affects emotion and things like that. And that's wonderful. But what I want to talk about today is literally more the electrical system.

You see, we found through recent research that literally the individual bacterias within our guts can send specific electrical signals to our brain that tell us to do certain things or tell us to feel a certain way. They're called microbes, okay, and these microbes send electrical signals.

Now, if you've ever seen any of that National Geographic footage or some really cool footage of those blue lights that wash up on shore ... You see a coastal region will have this crazy group of waves that has blue lights in it. Maybe you've seen it, maybe you haven't, but basically what that means is you've got this bacteria that's in the ocean. And this bacteria in the ocean is emitting a blue light. And it's sort of a wonder of the world. Everyone's fascinated by it.

The fact is, bacteria emit energy. It does in the ocean and it does it in our bodies, too. And this energy that it emits can actually send a signal to our brain. And it does it through a central nervous system superhighway known as the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve connects the intestinal tract up to the brain, and without the vagus nerve, we can't have a lot of this process happening. So it all comes down to our central nervous system and the ability for the bacteria to actually produce sort of an electricity.

Now let's talk about some science here so this all makes sense. I'm gonna reference two big studies and I'm gonna break them down in a little bit more detail so it all makes sense.

Jessie Graff kicks butts and takes names for a living. The 34-year-old stuntwoman, who has appeared in movies like Wonder Woman and The Dark Knight and was the first woman to ever complete Stage 1 of American Ninja Warrior, turned her background in martial arts (she’s a black belt in Taekwondo), pole vaulting, and gymnastics into a career she is deeply passionate about.
“It all started when I fell in love with the circus at 4 years old,” Graff tells SELF. “I decided I wanted to climb everything.” And that’s pretty much what she does now for a living. Graff’s days are filled with fight scene training, flipping, jumping, climbing, and falling. On top of her job as a stuntwoman, Graff still competes on American Ninja Warrior.

The poses and postures in this follow along yoga routine will absolutely help you loosen up and unlock your tight shoulders, chest, and back muscles as well as help your hips and legs gain mobility.

Range of motion and increased mobility from head to toe is critical in human performance. That is why top athletes spend so much time on warming up properly and getting their body to move through a FULL range of motion. Zach has tailored his sessions with us based on our personal needs, more mobility and flexibility in our muscles and joints.

We are all built differently, no doubt about that. And due to past injuries or traumas to the body, some of these postures or poses may be harder than others. However, you can't argue the fact that most of us spend too much time in postures that promote poor posture and cause tightness in our shoulders, chest, neck, lower back and especially our hips and groin areas.

Do you sit at work a lot? How about driving, do that much?? For anyone on the computer for hours at a time, these poses are VERY important for you...

Unraveling these areas can take time but if you learn and practice some simple movements like the yoga poses Zach shows you in this video, over time you can undue some of the damage and/or tightness that you're currently dealing with.

NOTE - the key to all of these postures and poses is the breath. If you don't breathe deeply into your belly using your nostrils to help slow your breathing down, your results will not be as noticeable.

The breath is KEY to all poses and postures in yoga and ultimately KEY to all sports performance. Focusing on your breath will always lead to a calming / relaxing effect allowing your body to get into better positions.
