People have been asking me to show off my vinyl records and how they are displayed and my turntable set-up/gear for a while now. In my old space it wasn't feasible, but I just moved and now I'm excited to do just that! In this video I take you around my room and show you where all the records reside, and also show you how I listen to my records. Included below in the description are links to our gear for shooting, my set-up, record storage, recommendations, and more! Have at it.

Tour the SME Factory With Recently Appointed CEO Stuart McNeilis Analog Planet
Published on Jul 12, 2017
Last year, Cadence Group purchased from the Robertson-Aikman family venerable SME, Ltd., appointing as its new CEO Stuart McNeilis. Mr. McNeilis, a veteran of the the aerospace industry, is attempting to maintain SME's exceptional traditional manufacturing quality while moving the company (gently) into the 21st century. SME has long manufactured turntables and tonearms as well as high-tech parts for the aerospace, automotive and medical industries. McNeilis's goal is a 50/50 mix of hi-fi and high-tech. He's already re-structured the company's worldwide audio distribution and he's busy planning for the company's future. You can read more about that in a future issue of Stereophile. AnalogPlanet toured the factory in 2014 using a GoPro camera. This tour looks and sounds better.
The Media Obsession w/ Tyler, The Creator's Sexuality STINKPIECE theneedledrop
Published on Jul 15, 2017
In the wake of Tyler, the Creator's new album Scum Fuck Flower Boy prematurely finding its way onto the Internet, several popular music/culture websites have seen it fit not only to publicize the leak, but to give early evaluations of the album's revelations about Tyler's sexuality. Today I'm reacting to one of MANY pieces published by Highsnobiety, probably the worst offender in this situation.

It took way longer than expected, but here it is: every one of the Metal-Fingered Villain's main solo releases and collaborations (in an MC role) ranked from worst to best. Enjoy!
Has rap music replaced rock in the cultural zeitgeist? Hip hop is everywhere and it doesn't seem to be slowing down in terms of popularity and influence. A polarizing genre known for it's controversial figures, it's hard to deny the impact hip hop has had in the cultures of the world. How has this happened? Will it continue? In this conversation, Feefo, Beezy, Kinge, and Myke discuss hip hop's rise to replace rock music as the new cultural zeitgeist. They get into some of the reasons why and discuss whether or not hip hop's rise in popularity will continue or fall off. What happened to rock music? Metal? That and much more is discussed in this new Dead End Hip Hop conversation.
Pear Audio Blue Robin Hood SE and Coronet I Tonearm Analog Planet
Published on Jul 23, 2017
Pear Audio Blue turntables are manufactured in Slovenia by Peter Mezek, who in this video I mistakenly refer to as Peter "Marak". Sorry Peter!.
Any resemblance to Tom Fletcher's Nottingham Audio 'tables is not coincidental. Mr. Mezek was a good friend of the late iconoclastic turntable designer and though others have copied Fletcher's designs, unlike Pear Audio Blue 'tables, those are not authorized by Fletcher, who passed away in October of 2010.
The Robin Hood SE sells in America for $1995. The Cornet 1 sells for $1495. You can save $500 by buying the combination, which brings the grand total down to $2990.
The 'table, available in various finishes, is imported to America by Audio Skies (www.audioskies.com). A full review will shortly appear on analogplanet.com
While Lust for Life might be Lana Del Rey's weakest attempt at reconciling her old school and new school influences, it's also the first time I've come away from one of her albums with more highlights than lowlights.

What Hi Fi? Bangkok High Performance Audio-Video Show 2017 Analog Planet
Published on Jul 28, 2017
AnalogPlanet.com editor Michael Fremer is at the 2017 What Hi Fi? Bangkok Show taking place Thursday through Sunday July 27th through Sunday July 30th at the sprawling BiTech convention center.
Though it's a relatively small show—and the first produced by Thailand's What Hi-Fi? magazine— the attendees are true audio enthusiasts and music lovers.
Today's turntable set-up seminar was well-attended. Tomorrow's should be even better. This video was recorded on Thursday, opening day. The promoters didn't expect a large crowd opening day and they were not disappointed. Today's attendance was better and the weekend's is supposed to be even better.
Most of the equipment will be familiar to most viewers but there were a few that were new including VPI's Cliffwood turntable and the new top of the line McIntosh phono preamplifier. Also attending are VPI's Mat Weisfeld, Analogue Productions' Chad Kassem and Rowland Audio's Jeff Rowland.
