At my favorite LCS it's gold that languishes. The little bit of silver there is overpriced US mint stuff...mostly the same with gold(eagles) that experienced stackers ignore. Silver and platinum will outperform gold in the near and mid term, and will do so handily imo. The same vendors that sell platinum online also buy it back btw...even if you cannot find a local shop that knows what they're doing...not my experience.
Well according to the U.S. Government neither is gold.
Interestingly the same entity also stamps a value on platinum eagles that's twice as high as gold eagles. Rather appropriate given the scarcity of above ground platinum relative to gold.

Central banks and govs around the world still have gold reserves...officially at least.

...and they don't stack silver or platinum. Yet it was silver that was still being stamped out as money "officially", and not gold as recently as 1976. In fact the last gold coins stamped out as money in the US are dated 1933.

Good luck getting more than face value from most peeps for your Ag coins. Even the sheep know AU is money.
Then why does junk silver sell at 15-20x face value? C'mon man!!

Last time I swapped "junk"(Constitutional) silver for fiat I got closer to 34x face. I think I've re-stacked more than I had in 2011 at increasingly favorable exchange rates since. Reloaded and ready for another silver bull...and hopefully...eventually another gold bull too. That yellow crap can't just sit there for ever while all the white metals pull the load.

The yellow crap is there for the apocalypse and has an infinite shelf life. Because of it's high value it's a bit tougher to acquire in any significant quality. The white metals are much more affordable, which makes them available to many more people for buying/selling.

They all have an infinite shelf life. I got no problem with gold, only the notion that it and only it can ever be money. It's really closed end thinking imo.

Technically speaking the best commodity money is actually platinum. It's not squishy like gold, it's non-reactive like gold and while it allegedly exists in the Earth in quantities equal to gold, it's nearly all of it still in the ground and not sitting in bankster ahole's vaults. If one designed a commodity money intended to restrain sovereign monetary expansion, then platinum is perfect. It's nearly indestructible and it's a pain in the ass to work with.

Go poll 20 random peeps and see how many of them think your 1960 quarters are worth more than 25 cents. Probably 1 at most. I bet they ALL know gold has value.

Those random peeps will be in the "starving" category if TSHTF.

Those same "peeps" will still only want to give you the dollar amount stamped on the gold coin.

Given the tremendous disparity between physical gold and physical silver premiums as a percentage of total cost, it makes more sense to use bullion prices for ratio calculations. Best bulk gold premiums are near 1.8% and bulk silver premiums are around 9.67%. This leads to a current GSR of 60.725. A ratio that more accurately represents what one would expect to see quoted if swapping one for the other.

Moving some IRA $. Going to play the ratio game for movement between gold & silver through PSLV and PHYS.
Also might dip my toe into the SPPP.

Thought that would be better than their CEF gold & silver fund.

Metal per Unit

as of 4/23/2021
CEF1 unit = 0.0067 Oz. Gold
1 unit = 0.2724 Oz. Silver

Ya might want to re-think that idea.
Currently each share of CEF is at $18.68. The numbers you supplied at SPOT close made a value of $18.99.
Which make each share holder UP 31 cents over PM values.
Jus' Sayin'
Me. I'm good with my piece of CEF.
Also good with Barrick (GOLD) special dividend coming out this year on top of 9 cents per share / QU.
AND
My spec. play with Pure Gold (LRTNF) which just poured their first gold 1st of the year with pours projected at once a week at this ramp-up time.
I haven't been in the Red Lake district since McEwen left GG . I won then. I think this has potential again. ( So does Rob McEwen and Eric Sprott as both are on board too).

When the shit house goes up in flames, that yellow crap will be what matters IMHO.

Probably closer to 50 to 1 if you compensate the ratio with the high premium of silver.
If you price SAE's @ $35 your ratio is 52.3/1, that's figuring $1830.70 spot Gold.
Colorado Gold has 1 oz Buffalos @ $1986.00, divide that by $35 you get 56.7/1.
