GOP rightly blocked Nancy Pelosi’s mail-in-balloting nonsense

by Quin Hillyer

| March 26, 2020

The cause of secure, fraud-free elections got a boost, or at least a reprieve, in the compromise coronavirus-relief stimulus agreement that is wobbling its way to probable passage.

House Democrats, led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, had pushed hard for $4 billion to be made available to states to provide for safe voting amidst a pandemic, but with mail-in balloting to be required as part of that mix. As the bill stands as I write this on the late afternoon of March 25, it provides only one-tenth of the money, $400 million, and does not include mandates for mail-in voting.

The grants would go to states “to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus, domestically or internationally, for the 2020 federal election cycle.” Within those broad guidelines, the states would be free to determine the best way to devise their voting procedures in ways that avoid the spread of the contagion, requiring them merely to file “a report that includes a full accounting of the State’s uses of the payment and an explanation of how such uses allowed the State to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus.”

In other words, the payments would promote federalism by allowing each state to create systems best suited to their own exigencies.

This lack of mandates for mail-in balloting is a key victory for Republicans and for fair and timely elections. To put it bluntly, widespread mail-in balloting is a mess. It often delays final election results for days or even weeks, and it is a system that makes it much, much more difficult to detect and deter vote fraud.

As election-law veterans J. Christian Adams and Hans von Spakovsky recently wrote, “Voting by mail is the single worst form of election possible. It moves the entire election beyond the oversight of election officials and into places where the most vulnerable can be exploited by political operatives.”

Furthermore, they write: “Worse, it sends ballots out to people who no longer are alive or no longer live at the registration address on record. Not every new tenant will toss the ballot into the garbage. Not every relative will resist the temptation to vote in the name of a deceased family member.”

Adams and von Spakovsky are correct. Furthermore, a national requirement for vote-by-mail, at a time when we have no idea what the status of the pandemic will be by the time the November elections roll around, was a particularly misguided attempt to hijack an immediate-response stimulus bill to promote the Democrats’ ideological agenda.

The grants, as they stand, are a wise way of helping states prepare for added difficulties in conducting the elections. The Democrats’ originally, hugely wasteful, ideologically driven proposal would have been just the opposite – like quack medicine that makes a problem worse instead of better. Thank goodness Republicans fought off the quackery.

If Pelosi gets her way trump will lose later this year. If this shit makes it into this bill and trump is pushing so hard to get it passed I have to wonder if he even read it. If not he may be signing his loss of the next election.
Before everyone attacks me on this you have to realize the left is working 24/7/365 to take over this country. They have 1/2 the politicians, most of the media, all of the colleges and schools under their control already. The left could run a dead turtle carcass on the ballot and get 49% of the vote just because they want anyone other than trump. The right just doesn't fight back.

1) Bill now goes to house
2) Pelosi will fook it all up precisely to delay Trump
3) Mitch "the D bitch" McCoddle will do what he can to to let Pelosi's crap ooze through
4) Trump will say "F*** this" and the National Emergency two-step and take all 880 pages and shove 'em up Nancypants' backside sideways and get it done.
5) Bust Nancypants and her little horde of leftist twits on numerous corruption charges so they can spender Easter in jail.

Yeah, yeah, speculation on my part but it would be a grand "easter egg" for Nancypants to open and choke on!

Donald Trump: Throw Thomas Massie out of Republican Party

....The president described the famous Republican libertarian as a “third rate Grandstander” who was obstructing the bill.

“He just wants the publicity. He can’t stop it, only delay, which is both dangerous and costly,” Trump wrote.

Massie is expected to force a roll call vote in Congress on the $2 trillion emergency funding bill, requiring members of Congress to rush back to Washington instead of passing the bill unanimously by a voice vote.

If Massie demands a quorum, 216 members of Congress are needed to return to Washington to pass the bill.

The Kentucky congressman shared an image of text from the Constitution on Thursday, suggesting that he would demand a quorum.

It appears that Massie believes that members of Congress should be required to record a vote on one of the biggest spending bills in the history of the country.

But Trump described him as a “disaster for America” for holding up the vote......

Among the many provisions in the $2.2 trillion coronavirus relief package that appear to have little to do with the immediate crisis at home is a nearly $11 billion pot of money for three international development groups.

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) – which the House of Representatives is expected to vote on Friday – includes the funding for the African Development Fund (ADF), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the International Development Association (IDA).

They're firing up the washing machines to get this $11B laundered and put into the pockets of all those who voted for this disastrous bill. This is just the pork that we know about so far. I can only imagine how much more will be coming to light in the coming days and weeks

Trump is jealous of Massie’s ginormous brass balls.
