Just like the other one folks!

Hopefully this will be a fun thread!
Whenever we are pursuing our favorite hobby we come across great buys we can or cannot take advantage of, and also prices asked or paid that are so high its just plain bizarre. Lets post them here.
If I find a great buy I don't have the powder to get I would rather one of you fine folks got it instead of some....well.... heathen.

I'll start with a snag. I like aussie nuggets and got this one last night on ebay for $261 free shipping! Not Bad!

was surfing on eprey last night and managed to pull a brace o' Five 9s Canadian maples last night for $1113 a piece after some refunds. That double ebay bucks thing helped too! Seller seems legit. :shine:

longtime lurker who finally got to sign up...

glad to see this thread got back up immediately, it was my favorite. i'll be looking to help everyone out soon!

as for my first contribution, i got 5 2010 silver eagles at my local shop wednesday for $17.40 each (kitco spot was 17.32 when i walked in). they were in the random silver bar bag, and i guess some guy carried them around and they got scratched up. his loss, and i get five '10 eagles for .08 over spot!

Picked up these Statue of Liberty Centennial Piedforts from my local coin dealer yesterday for $10 each. Each coin contains .868 ozt of silver so I paid ~$5.50 under melt for each coin.

It looks like Good Friday is a good day for picking up silver on the bay. I'm guessing most people may have the day off because there are deals to be had.

I just picked up an 8-oz. 0.999 silver bar for $16.86 an ounce with shipping after all of my bates.

If I had more funds I would pick these up, but I'll pass it on to you. Nice 10-oz loaf style silver Academy bars for $200.00 with free shipping. If you can apply the 8% bing and 3% mr. rebates, you are looking at $17.80 an ounce shipped. Nice silver bars for spot!!! Even better if you can stack more bates (i.e.credit cards, ebates).

Here they are:

The fact that it is Final Four weekend at the NCAA Big Dance will also keep the "competition" away from ebay. I might have to check out ebay for any silver art bars to see if the prices are decent enough for me to bid on any of them during this weekend.

I stopped by my bullion guy's place today and he said everything bullion is gone. People come in all day long for the last week and buy anything he has.
there was not a scrap of gold to be had, and for silver just a beat up 2007 eagle. He said he would give me spot+ if I would sell him some so he has some invantory at least.
I would like to help the guy out if only I had such stuff he wanted, I am heavily invested in tuna right now.

Here's the tool to check an ebay sellers account for negative feedback that was posted on the old site.
It's fast and easy to get that information without scrolling through all of the sellers feedback ratings.

Wow what's happened to the forum?

I only posted a couple of times on the last snags thread, so here is my latest acquisition.
Item is a pair of 2000 proof sovereigns; one issued by the UK, one by The Bailwick of Jersey (a British Crown Dependency located between the UK and France)

Seller listed them at £300 ($450) on a buy-it-now. Together they weigh 0.47 ounces of gold.
Photo is from the seller's auction:

Most of my snags are done by searching for "gold" in the coins catergory, selecting "buy it now items only" then arranging by newly listed, and setting that as a favourite. I probably check it 10 times plus a day, and it's surprising how often a great snag comes up. Good luck all.

And now for a classic WTF...

$.99 for 10 1 oz bars. Naturally shipping is a bit steep however-

http://cgi.ebay.com/silver-bullion-...ins_Bullion?hash=item4a9ffb1b61#ht_1913wt_937
When I first clicked on that ebay auction and saw the $210.00 shipping charge, I automatically thought that this ebay seller was in China but when I saw the location since the China ebay sellers are known for charging ridiculous shipping fees (and for selling fake coins). This ebay seller is actually in New York.

Wow, I keep having re-occuring dreams of finding caches of coins. The last one I dug up some earth for some reason and exposed what I thought was some small denomination coins, which turned out to be like 50 1oz. rounds.
Last night in some house I discovered paired up ben franklins in mint cases along with some type of third reich papers. WTF !

Sellers do that to avoid paying the rediculous ebay fees. Against ebay policy of course.

I use the search feature pretty much the same way you do except I put in the high and low price ranges to narrow it down a bit further. You are right, you see a lot of great buys by checking a saved search like that often. I figure the best buy it nows on ebay last less than 10 minutes before being snagged.
Great Snag on the sovereigns!!! I'm going to have to get one of them someday but I keep getting distracted by Britannias!!

Just received in the mail a 10 oz silver Pan American bar for around 50 cents per ounce under spot thanks to bing/rebates. Now I am waiting on the 10 SAEs at below spot and need to figure out what to spend my $96 worth of eBay bucks on. :)

I have to applaud all of the GIM2 ebayers of scoring ebay snags. I am terrible when it comes to ebay. Most of the time I get outbid on ebay auctions on the the '70's silver art bars that I am looking to collect. Most of my '70 SAB snags have occurred at coin shows.

This is not bullion related but, a snag none the less. I picked up a brand new Bestler flute, ticket stubs and backstage passes from a 2003 concert. You might ask, WTF? Here's the kicker, the flute was signed by Ian Andersen. Total cost with shipping and eBay bucks, $104.47. Can anyone say, Thick as a Brick, Bungle in the Jungle, Crosstown Mary?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260576281113&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4110.m38.l1313%26_nkw%3D260576281113%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

On the bullion end I sold 2 grams of platinum, 2 1/20th oz Aussy Nuggets, paid $100 on the CC (w/o the 2.3%) and walked away from the local dealer with a 1994 1/4 oz Krug. Also he'll trade me 4 1-oz CGMs for 2 1-oz Krugs and 2 1-oz AGEs plus $30 (no biggie) for the added premium of the AGEs. I'm trying to diversify into gold that I can handle and not have to put on the cotton gloves for. To me it wasn't a bad deal because I took a little hit on buying the Krug. The good deal is the fact that I met the owner of my local coin shop, told him of my future wants, he won't charge me the added 2.3% for using a CC plus, he will allow me to use my CC for bullion buys. The regular store policy is no bullion can be purchased with a CC.

With the ass clowns posting auctions with $200+ shipping fees, simply report them to eBay. After being warned a couple times their accounts will be shutdown.

I sold a $2 1/2 Indian and a $5 Liberty yesterday for $500, not great but local dealer only wanted to pay melt ($4oo) and the person bought them to keep not resell. I'm more into bullion and figure I got $100 premium out of the sale. HH Mark

Surface,
When I load the page it says you will recieve the coin as pictured which is a 2007. The "Item Specifics" is irrelevant. Read 2 lines above this. "Seller assumes all responsibility for this listing"
Mistakes happen but they should not cost the buyer!
He should let you back out of make good on the deal.
First contact the seller! A good seller will make things right.
If seller is unresponsive file a complaint with ebay and paypal.
Item not as described. They will refund your money. (They always do even if its not deserved!)
Let us know how it turn out.
Ebay gets worse all the time!

Personally, I have no problem with auctions like these...I'd rather give me $ to the seller than the auction site..and if I don't want to buy it, then I don't have to.
