"Silver bars" are a niche market on ebay that can net surprising results.
Here's a terrific example. A 3 ounce SILVER bar sold for $138.60 per ounce! Just last week...

Yeah, I like the coolness factor but I'm a practical investor. I'm a bad speculator therefore, not a good judge of how much a piece of silver would increase (or decrease) in value based on its shape and history.

A wise approach.

Minimizing losses is as important as maximizing profits!
Yeah but it's like when I try telling my LCS about semi numis. If you can get it for near spot, be on the lookout for these things cause it can do you well. Right place right time with a little knowledge can reap good bennies. GOod example were the Silver Kangaroos I sold to APMEX for $120 an ounce.

Oh my... $120/once for Kangaroos? How much APMEX they sell them for?

I have no idea. I had to liquidate for a DP on a house. I posted their quoted buy prices from me a long time ago but cared not for what they did with them after that.

That's because it's an Engelhard (highly 'collectible') and a rare weight as well. I have two of those as well as several five ounce (not as rare) ones. I just recently snagged eight 10 toz (even less rare) bars. If you see the poured bars at any premium less that 2 or 3 bucks an ounce grab 'em.

They're a lot more than that based on what I've seen out there.

I only buy PM's off eBay from a short list of bullion dealers. The Chins have pretty much destroyed much of the fun eBay buying used to be by flooding the markets with counterfeits.
In this particular case... my guess is there is no real or counterfeit ASE's behind that listing. Yet another fake account that will eventually will be taken down by eBay. Whoever buys and pays will be extending a short-term loan to the seller. :)

I grabbed this one for $744 and after the Ebay bucks 684.50 and an additional 11.16 in credit card points for a net price of 673.34 or $47 or so dollars under melt. Might not be a "great snag" but I have done worse

Beautiful coin. I always wondered what one would look like in UHR. With the standard LIBERTY face and all.

It will be worth a LOT MORE!

I grabbed another one. I'm not trying to brag on this but am just trying to show there are some decent deals out there on Bucks day. Seems to me like at the moment the Indian Head $10 eagle is where some bargains can be found. We seem to have a lot if new members here and, to them, I hope this is good info.
Cost $802.00 less Bucks of 80.20 less credit card thing of about 12 for a net cost of $709.8 and coinflation more or less had a net of $730,00. Price has gone up since my last buy but so has gold. Regardless to me buying under melt is not, as a general statement, a bad deal. I have done much worse.

You had plenty before that boating accident of yours.
I had 2 mercury dimes in my pocket when they fished me out of the bay that day....so there's that!

Yas, rolls da dice an takes your chances with that seller.
Either WIN biggly or BUST biggly. No middle ground.
There are people on this forum far more familiar with 1 oz gold bars than me... but from what I can see in pics... the bar appears more like a classic Chinese fake than a genuine product. I've seen these below (or WELL below) melt listings w/ fake-looking bars pop up quite often while doing general gold-related searches. I can't imagine how many of them are out there if you start looking for CS bars specifically.

Perhaps I'm just paranoid but more than $400 below spot, .... if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
No thanks.
Given the seller feedback (or rather lack thereof) and the location, it probably doesn't matter what the price is. You will most likely just be extending a loan that eBay will eventually return.

Agreed, not worth my time and trouble. Good luck to the eventual buyer

Yikes, someone bought it! Oh and this is not the first sale this seller has booked. But is there any actual product behind all of the sales? Who knows... but if I were to guess...
