I joined here because I found that there is no one in my life that I could talk about this stuff with. I'm losing sleep trying to figure out how to convince my wife that this is a reality we are very likely to have to face. Mike Maloney's videos helped with that, but she still doesn't get it.

I bought in to Maloney and others but be careful to do your own research. From growing up and living in Scotland, I will say it's very hard to find silver for anywhere lose to spot. With premiums attached and 20% VAT I would stick to gold. I bought mostly Sovereigns as they could be had for very close to spot.

Welcome.
I'm someone who doesn't post much obviously. I basically login about everyday and read the tab "Today's Posts".
Regarding trying to convince your wife or anyone else for that matter, Don't. Your just gonna probably stress her out and piss her off.
This website is a slow process. People come at their own pace. Practically nothing you read here is going to happen tomorrow.
Gold going to the moon, Stock market crash, derivatives blowup, Niburi (Planet X) arriving into the solar system or any other calamity is all going to take awhile.
That's not to say you can't quietly prepare in your own way. Here you'll find a lot of answers and some seriously nice and expert folks.
You can definitely find a home. :s1:

ps How's it going Haystack?

Thanks but from my research there are millions of tons of gold building up around the world but silver is getting very rare. I will not buy gold, I would prefer 75x the ounces of silver bullion.

In the UK the VAT on silver is currently 20%, the even greater thing is though, that if and when you come to sell your silver bullion the going rate is the same as what the dealers sell for with 20% on top, and that 20% portion is of course worth more as the silver price goes up.
