I've often wondered...does this round contain one ounce of pure silver or .999 ounces of pure silver?

All the coins Ive weighed are one troy ounce, therefore its one troy ounce of 999 silver, exception being the maple leaf at 9999 silver

so what's the other .001 consist of?
In some cases, copper, it add's strength to the metal, but that's usually .925
Typically with .999, it's just the crud that comes off the crucible, when it's made

The RCM hires a night crew to polish all the crud out of their crucibles, that's how they get their four nines :2 thumbs up:
