There was snow on the ground north of Pensacola FL today. Walnut Hill...covered the ground, probably about 1/2" max.

Sheit, we got a few inches of snow mixed with rain and ice. No where near the forecasted amount last night. Still hadn't seen a plow go around the block.

I'd think they'd make good money working on a holiday. I used to enjoy snow removal. Kept the cash flow going.
That was our generation. The Woketards aren't interested in money...unless it's from an exciting program like UBI or Reparations.

Also, it might be that the managers aren't OFFERING double-time for working the holiday. Never let a crisis go to waste...

I'm in Colorado and it looks like we have a couple of more snows this week. I think that is the third week in a row of snow fall. That's a good thing compared to the lack of snow the last few months.

Son of a [female canine] it was -36F at 6am again and supposed to be near freezing tomorrow. These swings in temp are hard on critters and make my wife a tad grumpy.

Yabbut...don't the long periods with double-digits below zero (C or F) get you down?

MANY have been the cold snaps I've been through...man, I remember my winter in Duluth, 2008-9. Went 45 days with the temperature not getting above 0F. The work was hard; but the enforced confinement inside, beyond work...was worse.

Some break in that would be welcome. I remember when the temperature got UP to the upper 20s F, it was like spring had arrived.

Instead of snow today we got ice rain (mist). Roads are awful and I have to drive home from work.

Yeah.

I've seen more freezing rain this year than in the eight years I've lived in Montana.

Now, in fairness...it's always warmer in the Five Valleys. We're right above the Yellowstone Caldera; and when it blows, we'll be modern Pompeii. A lost city.

But until then...it keeps us much warmer than, say, Libby, or Sweetgrass. Temperatures here are on a level with, say, Buffalo, NY.

But, freezing rain is rare. Often cold fronts go through, dry...and the temperature is cold, with no precipitation. Later, snow...dry snow, either warm fronts or cold, temperature well into the freezing zone.

It's in the spring when we get rain on frozen ground, making driving and walking, rough.

But not this year.

Froze my ass off riding electric scooters with my son around sunset. When the sun goes down even if it's 72* we need jackets @ 20mph.

Seriously, had to turn off the AC and ceiling fans. I am sitting on the leather sofa watching WWII in Color in a long sleeve shirt under a blanket. I can't wait until summer gets here!

Nope.
I'll admit it was easier when my blood actually ran. I grew up with this stuff so it is natural to me.
I'd love to see Nick up here for a visit but I think it might be short as he'd probably jump on the next plane to anywhere.LOL

Anything under 48* F my back hurts and other bones ache. I'll tell you 2 weeks ago I was wading in the ocean and could have went swimming if I was daring. The water is warmer than air temp at night too, but the walk across the sand back to the condo would make my nads crawl up inside my lower GI.

There's a great place in the Duluth area, amazing fried chicken, and back in the day 2 of the most smoking hot FEMALE bartenders in the arrowhead region, T-Bonz bar and grill. 08-09 would have been in the wheel house.

I got force-assigned to Duluth (Canadian National [former Wisconsin Central] railroad, on Halloween, 2008.

I made it through the winter...a cold, MF'in' winter...but it was work. You deal with it.

By the third week of March, I was again force-reassigned...to Trout Lake, Michigan.

Never heard of it? Me, neither. Unless you're on a fishing vacation, you don't want to be there.

Point being...I never really saw Duluth as a town. Only as a crash-pad location.

My daughter asked me to turn the heat on two days ago...thermostat was set to 65F and it was a bit cold so I bumped it up to 67F. Put it back down to 65 later that night and the heat hasn't come on since. I enjoy not paying a heating bill....even when it is 30F outside.

Sometimes I wish I could do that^^^.

Got up close to freezing today and then it figured it wasn't slippery enough out there, she started raining for four hours. Temps going down.

We got a coating of ice earlier this week. The kind with snow mixed in to make a big slush puddle at the bottom of the driveway.

Come get your weather. It got out of the pasture and made it to New England. Sub zero temps at night.

You pass through Trout Lake on your way to Paradise, MI. No reason to stop there unless you need gas and a microwave burrito.

Yep, January in Michigan.

The only month I have not found Gold in Lake Michigan. Because the water is too hard.

1-3 inches forecast for eastern high plains Colorado

we will take any kind of moisture we can get out here….it is dry
So far less than normal snowfall for my neck of the national forest. But of course that could change @ any moment.
It probably won't though, the Great Lakes have had record high water levels for a while now so a dip in precipitation is right on schedule.
