Isn't this a double header? {Or did Trump tell Jose he couldn't enter the country??}

What is interesting to me {tin hoodie point of view} Irma is headed for the dead center of America {Little Egypt, Ill}. The same exact spot the next total eclipse of America INTERSECTS in 7 years.

X marks Irmas last breath?? :

I ain't superstitious or nothin. But I found my bug out spot and that's NOT IT.

Little Egypt, IL or Western KY? hmmmmm She just waved at Florida as she passesd by.

We had the power flicker a little after my last post and then lost internet and cable tv. We never lost power. Minimal damage to landscaping and new home held up like a champ in 90 mph gusts.

The people around us lost power, but they should all be back up in a couple of days. My mom lost some pool screens and I got them repaired this evening as well as took down the shutters on both homes.

As the aftermath videos come out the damage is pretty bad
video shows a lot of destruction, but I'm wondering where it was taken?

I think some places got hammered and others didn't get it as bad.

Sorry for the delay.
Internet out.
Cell service out in many areas.
Slowly coming back area by area.
Have electricity but only by a thread.
Finally got a few hours sleep. Did not feel safe going out much under the trees until afternoon.
Neighbor to the easts last remaining tree
right on thebproperty line is on my service lateral.
Messenger / traveler is broken at the mast but mast is not bent. Holding on by the splices I guess.
This last June Mr Botee next door took out 4 , 80 year old oaks and I chipped in 1/ 2 on the one on the property that got topped in Charlie and came in the house.
Last year Matthew took out another one in the front that covered the whole street intersection.
So this one....not an oak...went sometime this morning after the bad stuff came through.
Back to post a pic in a minute.

The pics above are the east side where I had just beefed up the fence with 4 x 6s.
Not so good on the west side with 4 x 4s.
Theres about 5 smaller oaks here right on the prop line.
( soon to come out...Im done :) )
A large portion of it is toast.

Back side, behind the big barn is easement under the power line.
Thought I was in the clear...I mean east and west side was trashed....but...noooo.....lol...what a hoot !!!
Luckily the tree is on the neighbors side of the easement and it fell the other way not through the elec lines or on my shed. I am blessed.
It fell into that cats yard and smoked HIS shed like
when you squeeze a coca cola can in half.
Bad part is the root system was big and it thrust the back fence up about a good foot and a half to two feet so its gotta be all redone as well.

Theres a big clear area to the east of here and this is the highest elevation in the county.
That being said....this does not surprise me.
I dismantled the canopy covers I had and dropped everything on plastic shelves in bins go the ground and wrapped with tarps like the Jeep.
Hey Andial....even the little Datsun next project.

Helicopters everywhere this afternoon while I was out there.
Cell towers down, electricity sporadic and traffic signals all over the place.
No idea how many in this area...Duke Energy and not FPl are down but I will find out tomorrow.
Will also call and get myself in the que for a service redo.
Ohhh.....almost forgot.
The first two pics I posted....
Sent those 1st thing to my so called tree guy.
He says...
" well...we are working 24 x 7 / covered up but I can squeeze you in TOMMOROW for 3500.00 PLUS a crane if I need it.
I said I would call him back.
DUH.... as in later...MUCH later...
If I get lucky Duke will get the tree off the service and my insurance company will pay to dispose of tree.
Regardless....hanging by a thread or not ...the air conditioning is running. :) :)
Water is NOT in the house OR the man cave.
ALL the family is safe.
What could be better ????
Couple more pics then I am done.

Safe and sound here. As a matter of fact this 30 yr old wood framed house id so tight, and it was so silent inside (except for the storm panels vibrating now and then) that We had no real idea where the storm was. I had to text hystack, and ask him for a photo of the tv so's I could have a idea where the eye really was.

We have no landscape damage other than a few dead palm-fawns from our native palm trees. Ya see after Wilma we got rid of all decorative trees that are not native to florida. Native florida trees know how to stay up in high winds, What you do need to do is to thin out the inside branches now and then, otherwise your tree becomes one gigantic sail. That's why yankee's always loose trees in high winds, they don't know that you need to thin them out. Old timers knowledge, that these new adults dismiss offhandedly so often because they are so much smarter because they have iGadgets.

By the time I got the gen set up and running (I was running off of the small solar bank for just basic needs like my oxygen machine, fridg and freezer.) the power came back on within a hour. didn't burn a gallon of gas even. Not bragging or complaining, and I sure hope that the Lord built a hedge around other believers like us and spared them also.

Now back to regular GIM programming.

Holy shit, 6 million households without power for a total of about 15 million with no power. They are just getting into the keys and the keys may need to have a total evac. 10,000 still on the keys if they are still alive.
Up to 200,000 may need long term shelter.
So first was Harvey and now Irma but Irma is affecting pretty much all of Florida plus Puerto Rico and the virgin Islands. This is going to keep fema busy for awhile as well as every building contractor, probably in several states.
