QWAK,OK Scorpio --- just get around to it when you can. ;)

the DUCK :)
In the meantime, have you ever thought about doing a google image search for icons of whatever kind of smileys you want and uploading them to your album? That way any type of smiley you can think of can be used whenever you want, and they'll be unique to your posts.

Some forums have tons of smileys and by doing this, you'll have access to all of 'em. Waaay more than scorp will ever have time to get for you.

As an example, lets say you wanted a jousting smiley.
Or a driving smiley.
Or a thumbs up smiley.

Or a fighting smiley.
Or any other kind of smiley you could ever think of, because it's out there somewhere just waiting for you to find it. Go get 'em, Duck!

Show us how creative ducks can be.

QWAK,Joe King, Thanks for your help but with my dyslexia it makes it hard for me to use them. :(

The old drop down page was perfect for me!

FYI ALL,

The main server swap is going to happen tomorrow. I am comfortable enough now where I can go ahead with the move. We are dropping all excess baggage such as the old vb database, etc. and heading for faster pastures.

That is going to take awhile and WE ARE GOING TO LOSE SOME POSTS. Don't know how many because it all depends on how long it takes.

Don't panic, just keep the email handy if you need it

admin@goldismoney2.com

If you encounter any problems or issues, feel free to write in and let me know.

Thanks,
Scorp

I like the makeover, it's nice and fast.

quick question, if you notice that you've posted a dupe, how do you nuke your thread?

I will add I really appreciate the way the new forum allows you to copy and paste an article into a thread. Formatting seems to be spot on and you don't need to go in and hyperlink links or embed images or graphs relating to the article. That alone is worth the upgrade for the forum imo. Saves a lot of time and hassle. Good stuff.

Thanks Scorp, you guys have done an awesome job setting up/running this forum. Maybe, one of these days, a GIM2 bitcoin address, it would be such an easy way to donate a few sheckles.

The software conversion is complete.

The server swap to our new home is in the process of completing.

We are basically done now, and it is just tweaking as we go at this point.

and the thing is bad ass fast, go try to load a random pics or vids and watch how fast this thing loads it out

The JMB ticker and ad is messed up, but will get to that.

Does the new forum software allow a chatroom like the old forum? I know it wasn't used too often, but was nice to have when people felt like using it.

@ Scorp

The new site is significantly faster, and I have a question regarding the Members On-line Now section in the upper right corner of the main page.

This is a copy of bottom line of that section:

Total: 95 (members: 21, guests: 62, robots: 12)

Question: What constitutes a robot, and how do you distinguish a guest from a robot?

Thanks again for all you do for GIM2!

member is logged in
guests is not logged in
robots are the life blood of anything online, the more the better crawling over the place, as it helps in searches, and helps people find us when they go to search

my only focus for the immediate future is getting the members sorted out with their appropriate logs and banners, etc.

a lot of members out there that made it on thru, but picked up some fleas on the way thru the porthole

Please let me know if there are still members out there you know having issues, or others that have made it thru, but their banners aren't working for post levels.

we can go forward after we have picked up our wounded.

My old pms, as far back as 2010 when the last earthquake hit, are in "Conversations".

Guys, as follows:

Your private messages exist as 'Conversations' in your profiles, click on that and they all come up going way back as Argentos states. Mine has too many in it as far as I can tell and no way to clear them out.

You can create your personal News Feeds by subscribing to whatever forums you want, then only those forums will send data your way.

That way, if you don't want anything from ex: the politics or newsfeed forums, they won't come thru

Shawshank Redemption,

One of the best lines in any movie of all time:

'You either got to get busy living, or get busy dying'...............applies here

We need to get busy living

Change isn't bad, it is just change,
If it wasn't for change, we would all be shopping at the company store and beholden to them for our needs.

Same question. RSS feeds are cluttering everything up when I view "new posts".

Guys, just give it some time, PLEASE. Figuring out the new software will take some time. There are things I like about this package and some things I liked better about the old software, - it is what it is, get used to it and figure it out. And for Pete's sake, stop all the whining. I've used XenForo software on other forums, takes a while to get used to going from vBulletin, but just have some patience with it, it works fine.

curious as to what a guest post is and why I do not have enough permission to reply? Then there is the RSS it denotes in the upper right hand corner that I need to log in?

So I replied to a post and din't follow it and now I can't find it......yeahh I was just working off my alerts bad habit I have to change now because this post is supposed to go there.....I am so going to change my avatar pick to a penguin I think.

so I follow or watch this thread? Or will it keep popping back up because it is a sticky?

Let's be clear about what the purpose of the RSS feeds are,

To go backwards and only have the few threads a day by members, and a good portion of those by searcher, isn't really a good position to be in.

They are to bring fresh content, pull from, put the whole article out there and so on.

It is good for all of us that it is in fact there. Do you realize how few members actually bring content here?
Very few in the big picture.

This is to help that along, where people can get content here rather than traveling all over the interwebs looking for it.

So as LtD states, hang in there and give it a bit. It is going to be better for the forum as a whole. New content, new members, more activity.

The web world has changed, in how people get their information, what type, all of that. We are running from behind and it is time we spread the message of metals the best we can, and especially at the current price levels along with the economic situation people find themselves in.

One of our primary focuses should be to help others IMO.

Having said that, I never cruise the forum by new posts, so it is very fair for you guys to bring this up. Now we just have to find ways to tweak it to accomplish what we are all trying to do.

Gracias'

michael, I have no idea what you just stated,

The RSS feed forum has commentary turned off for all of us. It is a place to go read news and to pull as wanted to spread across the forum.

If you guys think I should open up commentary in there, by all means, we can do that.

Also please, refer to post #230

Just went thru and checked iphones, pads, and various browsers, and all appears totally normal on all platforms.

No issues other than the JMB ticker does not 'responsive' fit the windows, kinda stays the same size

You will note on small screens that the menu bar is totally collapsed, and the full menus are not readily accessible until you expand them.
