iPhone app for ping test gold/silver coins

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maybe some of you would be interested in my new project of an iPhone (iPad) app for testing gold/silver coins. In this moment my app can test 1oz Krugerrand and 1oz silver Maple Leaf.

I have a few free promo codes to share with you. Let me know on Private Message that you are willing to test the CoinTrust app.

Here is a short tutorial movie how it works:

Before watching the tutorial, I was expecting a picture of each coin with pictures of the actual size and thickness. This would allow you to place the coin on the phone to measure it.

I installed Bullion Test (free version) to an Android cell phone. It worked for a Silver Eagle just right. It also shows the measured frequencies, which may be interesting.

I used this method to ping test the coin: I used a sharp knife to cut a worn end off an eraser. I used that little piece of rubber to support the coin beneath and then I knocked the coin with a wooden pencil.

Clean the coin.....
Fine for bullion.
Looks like too many variables on testing have to be just right.
Table type & thickness, distance & position.
Ok at home after the deal is done, but not so much for a coin buy FTF at McDonalds.

A Silver Eagle vibrates nicely. I have been told that gold-plated tungsten coins do not vibrate. They sound dead in a ping test. I also tested a two Euro coin, which is made of two concentric pieces of different metals and sounds dead as well.

All sound money sounds right. http://www.gold-eagle.com/article/sound-money-and-ring-truth

Having the coin flat on a finger tip works just as flawlessly.

Perhaps a Fisch Ringer tool would be a helpful toy.
